Poor performance all over the pitch, no plus points, hard to see where we will improve and cl qualification looks improbable.
Moyes out, I never wanted him and he's been terrible never mind out of his depth.

I always knew a prolonged period with no trophies was likely post fergie but I thought wed challenge for a few years no matter who was in charge.
With the squad left and the amount of experienced winners in it - is moyes the worst manager in the pl?

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Rio Ferdinand single-handedly brings back Saturday night comedy to the BBC with some very "interesting" (to say the least) defending.
Moyes clearly needs time to build a team, and that takes years, not months. It took Fergie that long anyway. Probably won't cut much ice with the glory-hunting, prawn-sandwich-eating brigade who have jumped on the bandwagon over the past 2 decades, but hey ho. Investment clearly required in the centre of defence, the centre of midfield, and the wings (urgently).
Time. It's a wonderful concept. Give Moyes some, and we'll all watch a couple of seeds blossom into a big bouquet of...trophies. But firstly, Moyes needs to buy some flowers, or perhaps plant some of his own seeds (read youth academy).

I love Jose!!
Anyway
That spat with torres and Jan was a bit childish.
But to torres credit that made him play better- it gave him fire..
That is the secret to his game

Fergie wasnt handed a championship winning side with several players who had won multiple leagues and a cl.
Foolish to compare them.
Moyes should be gone already - he'll be lucky to see out a year.

Love the overreaction from Utd fans.
Sometimes you're gonna lose just the nature of the league. I remember when they lost to Steve Kean's blackburn at home. Things happen.
Judge him after christmas, he's barely into the job yet

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I'm not sure what was expected of Moyes by this point? Personally, I see his first season as a "free hit", time to find his feet and settle in. Finish in the top 3, reach the CL knockout stage, and maybe win one of the domestic cups. Then he'll be properly judged from next season onwards.
Not good enough for the glory-hunting brigade, but actual football fans will realise that teams in transition rarely start smoothly. And so it has proved.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
What did Everton actually achieve under him.
1 fa cup final in 10 years.
In other words nothing.
How this qualifies you for one of the biggest jobs in football I don't know.
Anyway we will continue to play terrible with teams a guy in the street wouldn't pick and be told he's great and we are lucky to have had previous success.
Well be lucky to win a league again before I die - fergie was a genius.

Perhaps because a man going by the name of Sir Alex Ferguson, a man who was possibly the greatest manager of all time and knows a great deal more about football than you or I, recommended him?Ent wrote:What did Everton actually achieve under him.

Aye because fergie never bought a turkey like bebe
, djemba djemba, pruner, Taibi etc - he's backed a donkey, you don't get on him again.
Moyes out, fergie/phelan in for 8 months, try again in the summer. Moyes can retire and enjoy his family now.

cant agree with that, valencia despite being less talented than nani has easily out performed him. nani has no place putting the united top on, where as valencia gives his all every game and has really only had one bad season as opposed to nani every season bar one!J.Benson II wrote:I think Nani is one of United's more better players. He shouldn't be mentioned alongside the likes Young and Valencia.mystiroakey wrote:Players like young, fletcher, nani and valencia have been made to look good by a legendary manager.
THE club needs to understand they aren't that good and start actually playing the talent they have at their disposal and yes they need to buy players in the window.
The problem is that United currently don't have a great deal of talent at the disposal. The majority of their players should be no more than just squad players but are making the starting eleven due to the lack of overall quality of the team.
its Fletcher who doesn't deserve to be in that list, proper club pro who gives his all for the club. something which in the past with the likes of nevilles, o'shea, brown, butt etc we have had plenty of. there is now no leaders with no players willing to give there all for the club (see rooney)

i would also add that we have to give moyes plenty of time because we did fergie is rubbish! fergie took over a team who hadnt won the league for years. moyes has taken over the champions of the league and with transfer dealings, spanking from our rivals, losing at home to wba has made us a laughing stock fairly quickly. we walked the league last season and with the upheavel at other main rivals dont think anybody is that much stronger. city showed that today.

Look moyes hasn't a clue and it has shown scarily early.
People saying he'd be exposed etc meant I the latter stages of the cl and title race - not in the first 2 months of the season.
He won't go back to a mid table club after having the big job so might as well spend some time with his family- it's over for him.

Absolutely p!ssing myself laughing at Ent's comments.
There's a concept Ent, it may be a bit lost on you, but it's where you "support" your team through thick and thin. That's what real football fans do anyway. Not surrender at the first sign of indifference.

Manchester United fans have not had to deal with that for a long time. That's not just the new generation either. There's fans there who have had it all glory glory since they were teenagers.
Moyes' comments about not having the standard of player to win the champions league is interesting. It's true, but it begs the question of his summer signings

Certainly holding there own.
Hull doing well to.
Gonna be an interesting season, top and bottom.
Certainly see both Manchester clubs dropping quite a few more points.

While im a Cardiff fan I am also a football fan and its nice to see the league not dominated all the time by the same old money boys at the moment
Hats off to Arsenal though on spending money wisely and playing very attractive football
