Palace are an asset to the league- we have a large brit/irish team, we have invested in brit talent, we have produced a lot of talent from our youth. We were almost bust a couple of years ago. We have fighting spirit, we did amazingly to get up and all we hear is the bs negatives from non fans.. (and its also your local team as well azzy!!)
Campana, Dikgacoi, Chamakh, Guedioura, Grandin, Marange, Kebe, Mariappa...some good British talent you've signed there
I like Palace - I don't like their fans, but that's another issue - but despite buying Gayle for so much, all they really contribute is an easy three points and the occasional prospect for a bigger club (Moses and Zaha being obvious examples). I honestly don't see you guys as an asset to the Premier League, sorry.

and why would anyone hate palace fans. They are chilled in comparison to most others. I feel you have a grudge against a couple of local people and are just branding the whole set!

Pretty sure we have a lot of British players in our squad, up around that figure too.
I'll be ashamed if we dont take 6 points off Palace this season.

Well we seem to have dipped in the last two games, and he started i think in both,(swansea and southampton).
I truly haven't noticed how he has played- but our midfield has been overrun and the only player that shines out is jediniak.
WE need williams, bolaise and murray back sharpish!

Our midfield is just shocking in the PL tbh. Our attacking options aren't to bad when fit(williams, boliase, phillips , murray, gayle)
In the championship with zaha, bolaise/williams and jedanick we bossed the midfield in plenty of games. but we need a solid spine at this level

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
If you have Campana et al, then there is no mathematical way you have 20 British players in your 25 man squad. I count 8 there, and those are just the signings from this summer!mystiroakey wrote:we have 20 brits and irish in our squad- you won't get many comparisons elsewhere in the PL.Azzy Mahmood wrote:Campana, Dikgacoi, Chamakh, Guedioura, Grandin, Marange, Kebe, Mariappa...some good British talent you've signed there

I did say you contribute the occasional prospect, not buy, so yes, two players produced. Neither of whom will ever hit the very top.

As I have stated we have 20 brit and Irish players. 17 brit players in our 30 man squad.
Just look it up ffs. It's not hard.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
But the PL rules state a 25-man squad. Palace's official squad contains Bolasie, Chamakh, Dikgacoi, Grandin, Guedioura, Jedinak, Kebe, Mariappa and Speroni. That's 9 players out of 25, or 36% of the total.
For comparison, Albion (who my wife always blasts for being filled with foreigners, despite being a Spurs fan herself) have Amalfitano, Anelka, Gera, Lugano, Mulumbu, Olsson, Popov, Rosenberg, Yacob, Sessegnon and Anichebe - 11/25, or 44%.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
You were crowing about having so many British players, but that was really the case last season, before you went and signed 8 foreigners for your PL campaign. Now you're one of the sellout clubs, same as the rest of us
U21s are almost exclusively British anyway GSC, Albion have tons of them. Even Chelsea can wheel out 15 English U21s to artifically inflate their numbers.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
We signed 8 Brits and 8 foreigners.
That is 8 Brits. Not one other team signed so many Brits. I don't understand what point you are making dude..
By the way. After some more research.
Palaces 25 man squad has 13 Brits. They also have 4 other under 21 Brits eligable. Total of 17
Both figures are the highest in the league

For accuracy Palace actually signed 9 brits in the transfer not 8!
the 8 foreigners is a lot far play- but to call us a sell out when we signed 9 brit players is ridiculous

Arsenal (spent £42.5million on four players)
Chelsea (spent £65.5million on eight)
Liverpool (spent £23.3million on eight)
Manchester City (spent £94.9million on five)
Manchester United (spent £28.5million on two)
Newcastle (spent £0 on two, although there was a £2m loan fee for Loic Remy)
Southampton (spent £35.5million on three)
Stoke (spent £7million on six)
Tottenham (spent £97.5million on seven)
what is the link above?

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
This all stemmed from this comment, which last season was 100% accurate, but now isn't so much. You may have the largest % of British players in your squad, but it's still not great. More than 1/3 of your players are foreigners.mystiroakey wrote:Palace are an asset to the league- we have a large brit/irish team
I like Palace, believe me, but look at your last game - 6 of the starting XI were foreigners. For comparison:
Newcastle 11
Man City 9
Chelsea 8
Villa 8
Arsenal 8
Stoke 7
Liverpool 7
Swansea 7
Tottenham 7
Palace 6
Fulham 6
Man United 6
West Brom 6
Sunderland 5
West Ham 5
Cardiff 4
Hull 4
Everton 3
Norwich 3
So 6 teams started less foreigners than Palace at the weekend, and three others used the same. That doesn't say a lot for the quality of your largely British squad.

He moved to this country from france at 7 months old.
I have no idea how he isnt home grown.

When? Debuchy has looked dreadful since he arrived, Yanga-Mbiwa too, Yohan Kebab was injured for half the season and inconsistent when he was fit, Gouffran was poor, Marveaux was invisible, Amalfitano was awol, Ben Arfa was good in the 3.4 games he seemed to play. It's a continuation of their problems from last season, from which they haven't learned.

He has no individuality does he.
When you look at top managers they play a specific way. You can't really tell many managers apart and pardew is one of them. However it would be nice to see a manager stick in his role for once, maybe thats all many managers need- 5 or so years and then they may come good.

Pardew probably uses shock 'listen to me' tactics. This will work for so long but after that, the players become immune, unless that certain manager has other credentials.

Hmmm Pardew has always struck me as a good manager, but to be in charge of a side like Newcastle, i think he is a little out of his dept. They need someone like Di Mattieo i think.
