More the FA don't want to undermine their own officials, especially seeming as the incident happened like 2 yards away from the lino

If the russian mafia/chelsea(by the way I am not linking them !!) had any say what soever over the FA chelsea would have actually received preferential treatment before not just in this case.
And like they would have been utilised in such a minor way.
I understand that torres played much better that game and i think he is coming back into form, but over the last few seasons he has been no better than Wilbraham!

* Everyone would go back to supporting Man Utd or Liverpool
* There would be far far far less local interest in football which means no youngsters coming through
* The Cardiff and Swansea academies would have no money as opposed to now having more than they probably ever have
* No top class football would come to Wales as opposed to it being here every week now
* Cardiff and Swansea work within a much wider area. Not just with the cities. This would all stop
How an earth you can say Cardiff and Swansea would benefit from playing Bangor, TNS and Port Talbot as opposed to Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc is really really really beyond me

Did I mention any teams? I said the welsh LEAGUE is affected negatively due to its best teams not playing in the WELSH league. Celtic and rangers would benefit massively by playing in the EPL but the Scottish LEAGUE would not.Steffan wrote:If Cardiff and Swansea were in the Welsh League:Champagne_Socialist wrote:You seem very proud of Wales yet you fail to understand that cardiff and Swansea being in the English league is a good thing for English football and a bad thing for Welsh football. You seem patriotic about Wales yet you are happy to watch your own domestic welsh league suffer so that the english league can benefit.

The Welsh league isnt suffering it is stronger than ever since they cut down the number of clubs. Not that it really affects the national side as the Welsh league is normally for players who didnt quite make it at English League levelChampagne_Socialist wrote:You seem patriotic about Wales yet you are happy to watch your own domestic welsh league suffer so that the english league can benefit
Cardiff and Swansea are the forefront for the future of Welsh footaball at the moment. If Wales are to ever qualify again for a major tournament it will be because of these two academies bringing through lots of talent that have grown up watching Premiership football in south Wales

I don't see how the welsh league would benefit from having them in it just like the scottish league isn't benefitting overly from having Celtic and Rangers.

The amount of money that the two teams generate for the sfa through european football, sponsorship and fans etc is the main benefit.Hammersmith harrier wrote:I don't see how the welsh league would benefit from having them in it just like the scottish league isn't benefitting overly from having Celtic and Rangers.
You take Rangers and Celtic out of the league and put them in the EPL and what will happen is that the Scottish league would all the money rangers and celtic generate and that money would go into the pockets of the EPL.
All of the money Cardiff and Swansea are making right now is going into the pockets of the EPL and not the Welsh League.

Why are you so obsessed with the Welsh League. The players coming through will play in the English league and then for the WELSH national team which is what we all want in Wales. For some reason Champagne Socialist is obsessed with a semi-professional league in Wales for players that doesnt really have any impact on Welsh football

I couldn't care at all about welsh football, it is non-existant but what strikes me is a welsh man as patriotic as yourself will gladly sit by and watch the English benefit from your best teams playing in the english leagues whilst your very own WELSH LEAGUE is non-existant.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
The Welsh and Scottish leagues aren't going anywhere so the benefits to them are minimal, the standard is so low that it's team can't compete in europe, don't bring in huge sponsorship and can't attract the best players. Rangers and Celtic have shown that the scottish league doesn't overly benefit from their presence and I fail to see how the welsh league would be any different. Swansea and Cardiff wouldn't be the teams we know now if they were in the welsh league, they'd be just another average welsh team.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
us english are not really benefiting from the welsh clubs being in the league.
1. english clubs have less chance getting into europe
2. tax revenue earned from the PL goes to the whole of the UK
3. Wales have more teams per capita in the PL-.
4. pl money goes to welsh clubs who can spend on youth(Should spend on youth!!)
All the same- they are as much a part of the league as any other team.
What should we do kick out all the 100 year old immigrants in this country for working hard and being successful??
They have been part of the league for 100 years!!
It is there league as well. and long may it reign!!

Looking forward to Hull saturday.
Really need to get the win. Got to back up our last 2 wins.
Hull will be tricky.
Aslo there is a 2 week break with internationals.
Then we have Spurs & Everton at home.
Need to get the momentum.

True. Though I was upset with Talksport crowning them as having won 10 straight games since they lost to Villa. Hey Alan Brazil, a 1-1 draw with West Brom in the League Cup is NOT a winChampagne_Socialist wrote:Arsenal are the best team in the UK right now

You can call us truly awful if you want, but we are not . We are just what we are, you won't get many palace fans that have any barmy expectations
The plan is a long term one. Its to get a decent squad together (that we can keep in the championship next season) so we can get better next season and try and get back up within the time frame of the parachute payments.
My target for the season is to get 25-30 pts, I will be happy with that

If Palace get to 20 points it will be a good season for you guys. You have one of the very worst quality sides we've ever seen in the Premier League, and I'm not trying to offend. It's shocking.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Yeah, they know their going down. They didn't invest but financially they are set up now for years. They might turn into a yo-yo club but many teams end up like that. They should also improve the facilities & ground. They should easily beat Derby`s points tally but getting to 30 pts might be difficult.

Worry about your own team,
Palace are an asset to the league- we have a large brit/irish team, we have invested in brit talent, we have produced a lot of talent from our youth. We were almost bust a couple of years ago. We have fighting spirit, we did amazingly to get up and all we hear is the bs negatives from non fans.. (and its also your local team as well azzy!!)

Why do you think we didn't invest John.
We certainly did/have
anyone expecting palace to spend 60 m on players is out of there mind.
We are running a tight ship and have to look at the long game.. jeas imagine paying players 60 k a week .. and what it would do to us when we go down next season.
There is a way of going about this situation and it isn't by being stupid on a whim!!
our last few owners have done that already and we almost paid the ultimate price!

That's essentially what I was saying. You invested in cheaper, young talent for the future, instead of the expensive foreign signings. Nothing wrong with that from Palaces perspective. Your financially secure now & can build a platform going forward, yeah, you might take a step backward in relegation but you will be better off in the long term.

I have to trust the owners tbh.Olly wrote:Personally thought once you get there, you should do your best to stay there. Wouldn't wanna risk the unpredictability of the Championship.
It would be all well and good to give it more of a go if we could have actually got a few signings that were much better than what we have at a half decent price that would actually come to palace.
But the problem is a player coming to palace over say swansea or villa would mean we would have to pay more in fees and wages.
Its just way too much of a risk.
The new owners are just really good fans of the club. They love palace to bits, they wanted a big time owner to buy the club instead of them , but that didn't happen so they saved us.. They can't risk us being in that position we were again.

I can see Palace taking points off ourselves, Norwich, Newcastle, Stoke, Saints(h), Fulham, WBA, S'land(a). Also getting a home win against one of the top 6 sides.
Not saying these will be wins, some I think will be, some draws.
I would be surprised if all those teams do the double over Palace(exception the top 6).

Swansea are the only team to truly outclass us in both halves this season.
We were in every other game.
BUt anyway - I will be happy with 25 plus- realistically I can see 4 wins and 10 draws
