Khan v Mayweather - 5th May 2014 - EDIT: THIS FIGHT IS ON
First topic message reminder :
2014-05-03 Floyd Mayweather Jr 45(26)-0-0
MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA 12
WBC welterweight title
bout subject to change & commission approval
I wonder where Boxrec get their info? They do call some fights that don't get made Anyone think this one is a goer.
I have a feeling Khan is next for Money May. I thought the fight might have been in the UK but I don't know what the BBBofC rules are on injecting pain killers. Floyd talking about fighting in the UK may just have been to stir up interest and gauge the reaction.
Anyway, Khan is often suggested as being the man with the foot speed and fast hands to trouble Mayweather. Can Virgil Hunter be the man to finally put together a plan that Khan is able to understand and stick to?
The first few rounds could be interesting.

Well i'm not going into the ins and outs of the Pacquiao thing, neither party wanted it as far as i'm concerned so wont put the blame on one or the other. Whether he's a big sell or not he sells far better than Lara who only boxing fans know of, casuals know of Khan in this country at least. Ultimately Mayweather will only take a fight if it's financially viable and that's fair enough as far as i'm concerned, he's the one putting his health at risk at the end of the day. Mayweather gets far too much criticism for doing what every other fighter in history has done.

I think Khan has bent over backwards to make this fight. Probably a lot more so than Garcia or Alexander were willing to do right now. takes the pressure of Mayweather needing his usual sales, and gives him time to find a better opponent next time round. Not even Mayweather can find 6 super fights in a row, particularly if hes fighting more often

Maybe cyclists can pick and choose who they race because it in a dangerous sport. And MMA fighters, American footballers and the host of other sports where injury is a distinct possibility.
Honestly boxing fans are to ready to make excuses. Just because fighters in the past take on garbage like Khan, doesn't mean we should accept it now.
Mayweather vs GGG at middleweight with no stipulations in the only viable fight. Sadly that won't happen.

Khan is a poor fight to take at this stage of Mayweathers career. Too many excuses for not taking on a better fight. If Hauser shat all over Mayweather for Alvarez he is going to take a serious dump on him if Khan is up next.

Only viable fight ?? geez.....That big name GGG.!!!.........Let's send him up to middle but It's okay for people to stay at middle to fight Hamsho twice.......Lumbering_Jack wrote:Maybe cyclists can pick and choose who they race because it in a dangerous sport. Amazing double standards...........
Said it before ...Say it again...........Why is it alright for Martinez to fight Barker, Murray and Macklin..........and this guy HAS to fight the best out there everytime ???????
Mayweather should just defend against a top 10 er like Hagler did for most of his reign........because some people will never be happy.
so F**K em.........

Different standards for Floyd it seems. Why wasn't there a clamour for Pernell to go up to MW after he won the LMW title? After all he started of at a higher weight division than Floyd.
Ooops, I forgot who wrote the post.
Carry on.
