As I said though I hate this debate in truth.. it's been going on for over 10 years and they shouldnt even be playing for England any more
He will dine out on those three games for the rest of his life.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Let's be frank (pun completely intended) Gerrard may have done better in 2006 & 2010, but he hardly put together inspired performances in either. England just suck in general during big tournaments. At least Lamps had a goal disallowed vs Germany, what exactly did Stevie G do in that destruction? More of a Lamps man as well, but I fully appreciate what Stevie brings to the table.
Cant see why either shouldn't be in an England shirt at this very moment - Gerrard was the 2012 England player of the year and Lampard scored 15 goals in 28 appearances last season.

I think Lampard is better than Gerrard certainly at club level. I also don't particularly like Gerrard being an Everton fan. But even I know Gerrard has been miles better than Lampard in an England shirt.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Gerrard has always been the better player, stats can be very misleading especially when Lampard has scored so many penalties. The performance against Milan in 2005 is one of the great individual performances i've ever seen alongside Keane against Juve in 99, it's something Lampard has never been capable of replicating. In my opinion it's only really Chelsea fans who rate Lampard higher and that's down to club bias. He shouldn't have been in the england team to start with, shifting Scholes out wide to accommodate him was one of the single worst decisions i've seen from an england manager.
On current form Gerrard is still capable of dragging his team over the line and using the small pond argument doesn't wash, if anything it highlights his ability.

I think Gerrard has most definitely out-performed Lampard at International level. At club level, Lampard perhaps just edges it, but I'd say in Benitez's reign at Liverpool, Gerrard was nothing short of inspirational. And Gerrard certainly had to compete for his position at Liverpool, he might have played with Biscan and Henderson, but he also had to fight it out with Mascheranho and Xabi Alonso.
Also fair to say Chelsea had their share of poor central midfielders who offered no competition to Lampard, Tiago, Alexei Smertin, Maniche all spring to mind.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
If you take out the penalties, open goal tap-ins, and fluky deflected goals, Lampard has scored about 40 goals for Chelsea. He always looks knackered too, be it in the 4th minute of 94th minute. Gerrard might not have won titles, but he is clearly the supreme player of the two.

No, considerably. I struggle to recall Lampard ever being made MOTM for England, or a game where we haven't bitched about him afterwards. He's been a huge disappointment for England.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I've just read comments from the 'Summer transfer window section' & I enjoyed it thoroughly. Comments like, 'Fellaini is technically superb, will make United's central midfield very strong' & 'Fellaini will be quality signing, much better than Cleverley. I think he will surprise many people with his qualities'.
haha, improved my monday morning slightly, many delusional people out there. Terrible signing. As for the Gerrard & Lampard discussion, it's been discussed before, change the record. Gerrard over Lampard every day of the week for England. Move on.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I think with Fellaini, he needs time to settle in to United's side. He's playing with unfamiliar players, no Baines marauding down the left, and he doesn't need to get forward as much as he did at Everton due to Rooney and RVP being up top. Now that he's stuck in a proper CM role, he needs to adapt. I think he'll turn out just fine, although the way he's playing, even Tom Cleverley would look good by comparison. Who'd have thought
Wonderful goal by Cabaye at the weekend John, you must be chuffed you didn't lose him to L'Arse!

I was raving about fellaini myself. However the quality of everton clearly elevated him , now that he is at a lesser club he needs to dig deep!!
The funniest comments preseason are the arsenal ones though

I have to agree, I made some stupid comments about Wenger, prior to signing Ozil. I'm still not convinced until November 10th @ 6pm. Then we will know where Arsenal stand & what they can achieve. As for Fellaini, I just can't see it. Too slow, predictable, get's pressured in the deeper role & loses it. Just a passenger for most games so far.

Kimberley is frakking disgusting. She's so arrogant, hates criticism, and bitches so much about the other contestants. I'd rather Ruby wins tbh.
But for me, it's Frances FTW. She's more creative than all the other bakers put together!

You heard.
"Kimberley, this week we're making some cake even Paul and Mary have never heard of."
"Oh yeah, I've made that like a million times. I'm so awesome."
"Kimberley, you have a soggy bottom."
[Kimberley stares so hard at Paul that his head explodes]
"I'm looking around the kitchen, Frances is making iced zoo animals, Ruby is crying into an empty bowl, I'm the only one doing any cooking, aren't I great? Yeah? High five!"
She grates on me so much.

She hasn't put in one bad performance this season. I am not bothered about her attitude(which i actually think is nice), just her class, The arsenal of the year!

I am having a pop. Ruby has been Star Baker three times to Kimbo's 2. And she nearly went in week 5, when she finished 7th in the technical. In fact looking at Kimbo's technicals:mystiroakey wrote:Is someone having a pop at the cake queen to be Kimberley!!

10/13
1/12 (Bread, easily done)
6/11
4/9
7/8
3/7
4/6
2/5
1/4 (last week's one)
So apart from bread week, where being a good breadmaker is hardly difficult, she's only had one decent technical. Last week's. She's finished in the bottom half of the technical four times! It's easy to practice a recipe 1,000 times, but doing something under time pressure that requires skill? Not her forte.
Looking at Frances and Ruby's technicals:
7th + 12th / 13
2nd + 3rd /12 in bread week (so just behind Kimbo)
8th + 3rd /11
1st + 6th /9
3rd + 6th / 8
2nd + 1st / 7 (Kimbo just behind)
5th + 2nd / 6
3rd + 1st / 5
2nd + 4th / 4
Frances has performed far more consistently, and Ruby had five top 3 finishes.
