The Culture Cup round 6
First topic message reminder :
I'm not really a London person. Occasionally Putney or Clapham to see mates or Lords for the cricket.
If Georgian food is anything like Estonian fayre I may give it a miss.
Galted wrote:seanmichaels wrote:Galted wrote:Decided to treat myself to a 3-piece variety meal but the Wrap-It-Up is between work & the KFC so you can probably imagine what happened.
Your Hi-Techs started to squeek?
Probably but I was too hungry to notice. Almost broke into a run as I approached the Wrap-It-Up.
Have you ever been to Tamada by the way? Georgian restaurant off Abbey Road. Went there for my birthday and found no reason to complain.

Yesterday was a funny day.
Had a smoothie this morning. Rather nice, despite all the sugar.

A quarter of a pomegranate, blueberry & acai smoothie for me, it's really kick-started my day.

Decent contributions all round yesterday, a bit disappointed to miss the half-three to half-four slot, some good action there.

Went to a tapas restaurant near Bank yesterday, had prebought the meal from a half-price Amazon offer and the waiters treated us like we were refugees, didn't help that the fleece I selected looks like an old towel with a zip in the middle.
What are you going to see?

12 Years A Slave. Have you seen it? Where does it rate on the GSoE?

I was on a date, she thanked me for a so-so meal. The staff weren't exactly rude, just overly helpful explaining how a restaurant and menu worked, did have to tip them and pay £3,50 for a small bottle of sparkling water.
12 Years A Slave doesn't yet feature on the GSoE as I haven't seen it though this hasn't stopped me forming the opinion that it's politically correct, contrived, sentimental rubbish. This will probably change when I do actually watch it.
Where are you watching it? I might hang around outside and guess which couple is you and your missus.

Stevenage. The place is a complete sh*thole but the complex that the cinema is on is alright. Lots of places to eat and the cinema is ok. Stevenage is the only place dahn sarf that reminds me of Runcorn where I used to live. If you ever listen to me about one thing, don't ever go to Runcorn.
DAVE and Jeff enjoyed it, apparently. Not sure if that is an endorsement of a film or not.
Hope Jeff is feeling better today.

That's the one.
I've been to Stevenage once. It was the debarking point for Oasis at Knebworth. Don't remember much other than the station was a bit characterless - for stations.

You're not wrong there.
I am going to have some nachos with jalapenos and cheese flavoured melted plastic, and quite possible a hot dog as well. Finish off with a drink and some popcorn and I should get all that for under £224.50.

I've started watching Breaking Bad. I'm not into US series as they tend to take up too much time. Other than Walking Dead. This is pretty good though, on episode 6 after 2 nights.

Very funny, I'm going to use the "for under £224,50" bit for my future visits to the motion pictures.
I've been to Stevenage before, it's quite crap. Caught the train back from there after spending the weekend with friends in Biggleswade. I was quite annoyed to discover that I hadn't switched my iPod off when I arrived in Biggleswade and the battery ran down while I was on the platform at Stevenage so I had to listen to the locals.
Why do you call it "cinema" if it's Stevenage, surely "pictures" will do?

Galted, the cinema complex is right next to the station. Next time you have the misfortune to be stuck there, pop down the stairs and nip into the pictures for another film on the GSoE. There is also a pretty good soft play thingy for kids called 360 that has go-karts in it. Right next to the cinema. Not sure if they would let you in without a child though, so either stick to the pictures or just take a toddler from an unsuspecting mother and go into 360.

My natural instinct is to call it the pictures as that is what Men of the North do, but seany was a bit passive aggressive about it when I first aired it so I am just trying to fit in.

I'm sure I could buy a toddler for a couple of cans of Kestrel from one of the teenage ladies that mill about. I have quite long legs though so the go-karts might not be for me.

I only had £1 on me on the way home yesterday. Decided to therefore stop at an independant shop/off licence as you can usually buy one can as opposed to a 4 pack. Decided to go for a can of ACE which was 99p (had the price printed on the can). It was surprisingly ok but a bit abrasive at 7.5%.

That is very impressive Tina, particulalry in light of your raging coke habit. Used to be best at the Home Office, you used to be allowed about 12 days before it triggered any kind of action, folk used to treat them as extra holidays.

I've come into work desperately ill before. I do it as the rest of the office are southerners and they constantly take the p*ss out of me so it is one of my means of giving some back to them. Literally and figuratively.

I once went into work ill. I was a security guard at a bank complex and was scheduled for a 12 hour shift from 7am-7pm on a sunday. Had a massive night on the saturday though. Our hut was at the main gate and 3 times during the day i bugled outside the backdoor. My partner was not happy.

Large chicken burrito from Wrap-It-Up with f*ck your tongue sauce. Sublime.
Not sure if I've mentioned it before but I have aubergines in my wrap instead of salsa. This is how I roll.

Off for a cup of peppermint tea and a bit of a perusal of Confederacy of Dunces. This is another way in which I roll.

Rowley hasn't been ill, he went to the flicks (I believe that's what the youngsters call it) and tried the popcorn trick...unfortunately they didn't have any popcorn so he opted for Nachos and melted cheese instead.
