The Culture Cup round 6
First topic message reminder :
Happily, the first Spice Girls Single not to go to Number 1 was Stop, it was kept off top spot by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That.
seanmichaels wrote:Rowley wrote:seanmichaels wrote:Rowley wrote:JuliusHMarx wrote:I think I'll upset Jeff now and say that Blackberry Way is a better song than Waterloo Sunset.
Why would the fact you're a moron upset me?
As an aside though another Move song, Flowers in the Rain was the first song ever played on Radio One.
That could and should have been posted on me remarkably unpopular Music anecdotes thread....
Sean, if the thread had been called useless music trivia it almost certainly would have been. I have any number of such facts I could amaze you good people with.
Hit me.

Only joking Tina, I even checked I had not banned you as part of the search party we did in your absence.

Well actually, I was suffering much anguish myself. Me a couple of mates went over to gay Paree to have our hopes and dreams dashed in the sporting arena. We cried, then we cheered and then cried again as our brave sporting hero's left the French battle field bloodied but unbowed.
Stayed on for Monday and came home yesterday. Had a good time apart from the result.
I did go with a scouser and a Yorkshireman though so spent half my time stopping one from stealing and the other time trying to prize the Yorkshireman's wallet open.
Who are you?
That isn't great is it. I have spent the best part of 3 days drinking though. I am not michaels, it takes me a while to get over these things.

Which reminds me. At the B&B thing I went to they had a good breakfast set up with ceraels, fruit etc and a kitchen menu (eggs benedict, full english etc). However, it was the jug of tomato juice, tobasco sauce and bottle of vodka that caught my eye. Class touch.

Perfect grammar will do. I was on the verge of posting messages on the rugby threads regarding your whereabouts, quite coincidental that your absence was rugby-related (some people would say too coincidental but they're just conspiracy theorists).

I'd suggest going on Welsh match threads and typing out "lol, Wales are rubbish" every time they f*ck up. The amount of bile should be spectacular. I would do it myself but I've developed some close Irish mates on the rugby boards and it might reflect badly on them.

Is short for Quaalude Tina, was a painkiller. I believe that people worked out if you took when you were awake rather than before you went to bed, as you were meant to, it got you off your head. As if you did not know.

Learnt that a few years back. Rousing. Good atmosphere? Sounded like it was.
Do have a soft spot for French rugby so wasn't overly disappointed with the result.

Amazing atmosphere. I have been to that Welsh stadium before and nothing compares to the atmosphere there, but Paris for Le Crunch was fantastic.
Heartbreaking end but a great game. Aside from a couple of random bounces of the ball early on, England were the better team and should have won.
Poor bench from Lancaster though. Farrell could barely run at the end and with no fly-half cover, we ended up with a 12/13 on the wing and 10 who couldn't shift over. Barritt should either start the game or not be in the squad at all. Not the right kind of player to come off the bench.

Re: The Culture Cup round 6
I like Goode and would love him to play more at 10 (I think he was the 'cover') but he's also Farrell's club team mate. Taking Care off was village, and Lawe's enforced departure was crucial.
I would highly recommend a weekend away to watch Toulon at Stade Mayol. Smallish tight stadium officially holding 15k but more like 20k come kick off. Atmosphere is the best I've experienced in any sport. Get to the town centre where the ground is early in the day. Get some food in, get leathered, and go enjoy the Pilou Pilou. Really is something else.

I like Goode as a player, and he can cover FH but he didn't get the chance. With May going off after 5 minutes, Brown goes to wing, Goode to full-back and then straight away you're relying on Farrell to make it through the whole game unscathed. I know you can't legislate for an injury that early on, but the balance of the replacement backs wasn't right. Barritt is Lancasters blue eyed boy and he wants to shoehorn him in the squad however possible.
Yep, I would love to go to Toulon. I will do one day.

Do say it every year but intend to make a more conscious effort to watch more Super League this year. Difficult because whilst TSMR is a woman of almost infinite patience she has a tipping point and suspect league on a Friday night is that point.
