We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

awful game. basically we've got nothing up front, for all the signings we've made, we've managed to fail to bring in a top striker. optimism fading for the season. Villa were pretty damn awful too. less said the better, last on MOTD tonight for that one.

Timothy Krul could of taken some sleeping pills before the game, we still would of got a clean sheet.

Would be somewhat amusing if on MOTD's 50th anniversary all the games were absolutely crap.

We passed it round pretty well today.
just no end product. Hope tekkers back soon.
Pleased with the start we have have had. 2 clean sheets in a row., very rare.
Not getting carried away, hope we can get the win against Hull next week.
Decent start to the season. Now off into the second city for some pints.

Chelsea's defence is so good that the attack only has to click for 15 minutes, and it'll be enough. Cue a season of 1-0 2-0s

You look at that arsenal team and think their entire back 5 could be better and they need a striker and some good centre midfielders.
Essentially they are over loaded with neat players who want free attacking roles.

Same old arsenal. Ramsey having a mare, chambers being found out & Sanchez proving that he wasn't really the answer.

Tipped Everton to win and they are looking good value for it.
Same old Arsenal really. I did not think they were realistic title contenders at the start of the season, and they look further away now. It really does say it all when Wenger is bringing on Giroud to try and salvage a 2-0 deficit.
Oh for the days of Henry and Bergkamp!

When will Wenger start buying players that will solve his clubs problems instead of buying more attacking talent that they don't need. Yes United are further away from the top and our dealings haven't been perfect but at least we've purchased three players in positions that needed strengthening.
Sanchez while a wonderful player isn't going to stop Arsenal being very suspect at the back while Debuchy just isn't that good.

Still think Arsenal will go a lot better if they play Sanchez off Giroud in a one big one small tactic. Wilshire is a passenger at the moment...

As much as it pains me to say it and I genuinely thought he'd be a great midfielder for England but Wilshere is going backwards and fast, he could be done if he doesn't sort himself out.

Quite agree. Lots of potential, but not kicking on as he should.
Could be another David Bentley at this rate!

Think this will be the year that Wilshere drops off, can't keep being so subpar. An injury at this rate would save him as he wouldn't be shown up every week in the first team.

Quite funny actually, All this will do is delude arsenal to think Giroud is good enough & they won't sell him. Poor from Everton though.

Formation doesn't work, forcing wilshere into the team when atm he's not good enough to justify it and it's hampering ramsey/ozil impact. Formation worked against man city because they were totally off but hasn't at all since

I wonder how much of a factor Barcelona's success has been in Wenger's refusal to change. Considering pretty much everyone has known exactly what their problem is for the last decade or so, surely there has to be more than just stubbornness behind it?Hammersmith harrier wrote:When will Wenger start buying players that will solve his clubs problems instead of buying more attacking talent that they don't need.

Ramsey is just as bad as Wilshire at the moment.
But once Walcott comes back and Sanchez goes central, arsenal will look Mich better.

It might work in La Liga but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish altogether but there has to be a reason behind it other than stubbornness.

Ramsey isn't firing, but he is scoring... and at the end of the day, that's the aim of the game. Arsenal will improve, Walcott still out, Ramsey not quite on it, Sanchez still acclimatizing, but Wenger seems to have those myopic spells he's prone to re: Wilshere.

Arsenal's MF can be so good and soo bad somehow Everton let them off. Sanchez is a great summer signing but he is playing with guys who don't keep the ball like he's used to.

You will laugh but even I'd bet on that happening, such is the creativity behind him & the chances they will provide him. Simply put though, in the decisive moments of the season, up against the top opposition, he'll fail time & time again. Today, will probably just delude Wenger into thinking he can do the job for Arsenal, however, everyone knows he's not good enough & will be one of the factors in the expected failure of Arsenal in the league again.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Arsenal were quite unlucky, I didn't see the match as the rest of you lot see it. After giving up the second goal we had all of the ball and all of the chances. By the way the second goal while nicely constructed for Everton was clearly offsides, the replay showed that Naismith was a foot or two offsides. We have a lot of new players in the side and I honestly don't think chambers was that bad. Mertesacker had one of his worst matches in years. Ramsey has 3 goals in his last 4 competitive matches dating back to the match winner in the FA cup. We should all be playing so poorly. Wilshere was really poor, I really think we need to get him out of there and get Santi back in the mix. As soon as Santi came on he created a goal for Aaron who made a smart run as usual. Campbell, Debuchy, Chambers, and Sanchez are still working their way into the side and learning how to play on a new team and or a new league.
I am a big supporter of Jack's but he needs to up his level and not waste possession by dribbling it into the teeth of defense as often as he does, I don't want him to lose that desire or willingness to run at defenders but he has to be smarter about it when he loses the ball we open up on the counter way too easily. I think when we get Theo back and if we could get one more good signing we will be in the mix at the top of the table. Chelsea though look way too strong in the league for my money.

I looks like Lennon is coming to palace after Millens performance yesterday.
I cant see what he can do at palace.. Does anyone think Lennon could keep us up?. What has he done to prove he can manage a team like Palace?
