We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

I were joking earlier, but Skybet have made Moyes second favourite (behind MacKay) to be next Palace manager.

Fairplay to Pulis if that's true, a manager should not be undermined in any way when it comes to the running of the team, what happens when he's signed would he then have been pressured into starting a player he doesn't want?

SkyBet can do whatever they want. Owner wants Zaha.....then he'll bring in Moyes, who hates Zaha

The only two managers I would want duty that are in the top of the running.
Sherwood wouldn't have a clue. Completely out of his depth at a club like palace- infact any club. He is too inexperienced. I would rather use millen.
I would bite your hand of for moyes as I said earlier, and Makay is a good manager at this level, I wouldn't want Lennon or Clarke.
Allardyce would be decent. I would take him

What do you think is true?
We wouldn't change our pay structure for new signings.. I am sure that's the major reason. Pulis thinks we didn't get the players he wanted because we didn't offer over the top wages to entice them in..
However what pulis needs to understand is that many players wouldn't even want to play for him anyway.. He is very demanding(which is good in a way) but he really doesn't care about flair in the slightest..
I bet gayle is a happy man at the moment. Pulis wanted him out of the club..

I have no idea what is true Mysti, either side seems plausible and as a Palace fan siding with the chairman is the more desirable option, we'll probably not know either way.

That's what I told you in the first place . But i doubt its the case.. No way parish would have demanded a zaha or pulis scenario, especially when zaha isn't even guaranteed to come..But if it was the case as is said I would have rather have pullis and in that case yes I would respect his decision to leave..
But anyway as it stands. Pulis is gone . So we need to go for zaha.

Whatever the reasons, it's a mess. Nobody has come out of this looking good and why this debate has been left to two days before the first game of the season is anybody's guess.
Crystal Palace need to act quickly in appointing a new manager and try and allow him to have some kind of chance in the last week of the transfer market to bring in a player or two.

Pulis won't be rocking up at Upton Park any time soon. The owners are battling a PR war as it is by keeping Sam, they won't please the fans by bringing in Pulis. Even if it is completely unfair for both managers to be lumped together as a certain style, its just how things are

I know there's rumours about Aaron Lennon leaving Spurs, but...
Don't rate Sherwood and I think Sherwood would rate himself too good for Palace (reckon he's waiting for Real or Bayern...) But if Palace did go that route they'd be ringing Pulis again for another miracle come November. In fact they should probably be ringing Pulis now, I've heard he hasn't got a job and would be free to start this morning.

Nope he had gone. That's it. Ties are cut.. Pulls will be sitting about waiting for that call in November and will go to the highest bidder. But it could be the end of him. As he may not keep that new team with probably less resources than palace up.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Pulis' main gripe was the club failing to sign the players he did want (Caulker, Sigurdsson); and attempting to sign players he didn't (Zaha, the midfielder the Chairman alluded to and Pulis had no knowledge of).
I'd have lumped on Mackay last night, he and Moody are mates from Cardiff.

Tbh and I probably speak for a lot of palace fans here. I just want millen to have a go, at least until before Jan transfer.
Give him the reigns . see what he does. Save any transfer budget for a new manager then.
Macay is decent. But come December there could be plenty of new managers looking for work.
But if millen does the business we can stick.

What annoys me is that this crisis talk did nothing. Pulis had already made the decision to leave before yesterdays talks. He probably told his mates. As the bookies down south a(where he lives,)l lumped on him to leave. So even if parish had given pulis something more to compromise it wasn't going to happen.
I don't think the bookies should pay out...

I read today that Pulis almost left in January, due to the Scott Dann deal being protracted. Seeing as Palace were in administration relatively recently I can understand Steve Parish being careful with the budget.

It looks like zaha is going to be loaned to QPR..
It couldn't get worse for us palace fans at the moment.
So in light of that. I am backing palace to win tomorrow at 14.5.

I've got United, Everton and Liverpool to win & BTTS, plus City and Chelsea to just win. £4 stake for £350.

Shame about the Barkley injury, was looking forward to seeing him really kick on. I guess he won't be a shoe-in for young player of the year after three games.

Relative safety is the spice of life.
Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Citeh, Chelsea, Burton, Luton, Cardiff all to win.
£2.06 returns just over £300.
What can possibly go wrong?

The wait is over, new season is on us.
I fancy United to get off to a feel good start with a 2 goal victory - going to back Rooney to get the first goal of the season.

Manchester United have got a lovely first six fixtures in the league: Swansea home, Sunderland away, Burnley away, QPR home, Leicester away, and West Ham at home.
A perfect opportunity to settle, to make a good start, and to put early pressure on their rivals.

Yep it's going to Malky
Which is great I suppose. Loveable character and a decent manager.. It's definitely a plus.
Not sure if he is a winner though. Time will tell. He has a tough task ahead. But he will certainly get on with parish and moody.

Todays line up just shows how badly we need defensive reinforcements, Lingard and Young at wing back with Blackett on the left hand side of a defensive three.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Swansea might be given hope by the inexperience in the defence of the home team, but I still feel that United will be too fired-up and motivated for this one.
Home game, start of the season, new manager, lots to prove = United by two goals.

Hernandez in the shop window or it means Welbeck could be off. Was the £12m bid for Welbeck from Hull actually confirmed? Lingard & Young wing backs....oh dear. Big step up for Blackett, imagine Bony will on him like a rash to test him out.

No. This was from yesterday on a number of sites, ''Steve Bruce prepares audacious £14m bid for England striker Danny Welbeck, as Shane Long signs for Southampton'. I think Welbeck has rejected the idea of moving to the KC though, I just wasn't sure if the bid had been officially made though, wanted confirmation.
