He was moaning about too many people being on the fairways.....
There was nobody on the green he then 3-putted from 6 feet.......

bogey birdie bogey birdie for lee.
crushing it out there as per usual but it could be so much better.
But if he can get in at 3 or 4 under and conditions reverse tomorrow- he will be relatively close to the top. Much harder out there this afternoon

im fairly sure it isnt even close.
Off 14 i assume you haven't played on decent courses with close/quick greens. It magnifies problems ten fold

Dufner has missed one fairway and no greens in 14 holes....
In the more difficult conditions as well.

I read somewhere that Els hit a very young child with one of his shots on the first hole and couldn't focus after that. No idea if it's true.

Plunky,
He certainly hit someone, blood, emergency services. Think Ernie was quite distracted.
Interesting listening to Duval talking about the effect that can have. Especially so on the first hole I would think.

606 favorite Sandy Lyle with 4 pars only.
Why is Bubba concerned about the fairways? Rarely hits it there anyway.

@BenColeyGolf: They very kindly split the leaderboard in two here in the Media Centre. 14 of the second half are under-par. 35 of the first half were.

you cant get much spin/shape on the ball out of the rough. he needs fairway or he has zero chance.

Re: Open Championship Thread: Tee Times
Some US pundits going for Rafa Cabrera-Bello as an outsider: -2 from him is a very promising start. Good to see.
And agree about Oli Fisher.
If the forecast of showers/wind in the morning, clearing in the Friday p.m. is to be believed, the Thursday morning/Friday afternooners will likely have a significant advantage if it softens the greens, thickens the rough.

Super back nine from Billy Bunter. Well done.
You hope he can keep it up Inco? I doubt he's seen it in about 15 years.

Thanks sirb,
He's used to US tournaments (and Glen Abbey and RSG!) using grandstands as backstops.
Having said which, it certainly doesn't look quite right being so close to the fairway/green.

Ben Coley @BenColeyGolf 2m
Tomorrow's forecast from the Met Office says 35mph gusts in the morning, nothing more than 10-15 in the afternoon. Big draw bias potential.

As a links player who religiously checks every forecast before the weekend I'd say that a 10-15mph wind forecast for the area is always far worse than that on the actual course, usually closer to 20,which is a handful.
Could see some of todays late starters really lose ground on those from the earlier easy conditions.

Lowry said he was inspired by the amount of stick he was getting on social media to lose some weight, obviously he's still got aabout 3st to lose before he's normal but it's a start.
