He's an old old man. his eyes are dim, his ears are grizzled his nose is knackered.1GrumpyGolfer wrote:Can't believe no one told Alliss that Johnson was putting for a five on the 7th. Both him and McIlroy were in trouble off of the tee. Wasn't he watching this.

You think Alliss is bad, ESPN exhumed Tom Weiskopf yesterday.
Not clear whether he was dead or alive.
3 Nor'n Ireland in the Top 20 - impressive. Almost a local course for them really.

They even had a graphic that showed each player's position so someone must have seen it to mark Johnson in the bunker. So no one else could have had a word in his shell like?
Shades of we'll have a playoff at Augusta when Mickelson won his first one.

Rory toying with these boys.
Sergio will go Sergio, Fowler can't rely only on his Putter.

And Tiger's gone Tiger.
Unforced errors on 17 from those three, still a long way to go.

World Rankings don't lie, not this week anyway.
Bubba Watson the only player in the Top 26 to tee it up this week and miss the cut.
Dubuisson, Fowler and Furyk all guarantee themselves a trip to Gleneagles.

Impressive from Coco, think his career could be like this, highs and lows which makes it interesting. Hope he seals the deal tomorrow.

Yes it was correct. But the reshuffling of tee times, sending the last (TW) out last stinks.incontinentia wrote:Looks like the two tee start decision was correct. Lightning at the mo.

Agreed Diggers. I just hope he - and everyone else - just accepts he has an off day once in a while. I think it was Nick Faldo who said when he was playing well he would usually have three good rounds and one off day. He said as long as that one round wasn't too bad he could win it.Diggers wrote:Impressive from Coco, think his career could be like this, highs and lows which makes it interesting. Now if Rory has the same issue, does he play percentage golf, or carry on as usual? I'm for the carrying on, as when you start to protect a lead, it goes.

Re: Open Championship Thread: Tee Times
The media really do Coco no favours. Listening to BBC and Talksport Radio they have him as a guaranteed winner already. Many here know I'm not a coco fan but you can't deny he has been excellent today - but to hear the talking heads give him the claret jug already .. well we all know he still has an 80 in his bag as well as a 62 ..
Strong favourite now but still wouldn't say it was over

Indeed, can he even play percentage golf? I like him, he has his faults for sure but he wears his heart on his sleeve and seems like a nice lad.
I've always thought when players go really low an average round often follows, Rory just goes really low pretty often and on big events as well.
As long as the weather doesn't go nuts I can't se him losing tomorrow. I hope it doesn't because it's just boring lottery golf then.

Re: Open Championship Thread: Tee Times
Aaargh, my TV viewing is being ruined by two things.
1. Peter Allice. The silly old duffer should fall on his sword. He's the same as Murray Walker was at the end of his commentating career.
2. Rolex. Never complain about the uninterrupted coverage of the BBC. I get Fox Sports. Every 5-10 minutes there's an ad break. Everyone has a Rolex ad. It has the opposite effect on me. If I could ever afford a watch that costs that much, Rolex would be the last choice.

Tom Watson must be pleased with his 68. Two strokes better than anyone else so far, or until Todd signs his card.

Re: Open Championship Thread: Tee Times
A very poor Open for three English stalwarts whose games ain't wot they used to be.
Donald, Poulter and Westwood need some good results in the next few weeks otherwise they'll be sitting home in Florida watching the Ryder Cup on TV.
And Casey has done nothing to help himself earn a PGA Tour card for next year. Ridiculous that only Donald (because of his RBC sponsorship) is condescending to fly to Montreal.
These boys will get what they ask for.

Fine round for Chris Wood - hope you saw that Lukey, and don't you just love the way Cabrera's playing right now?
He'd be right in the shake-up behind Rory if it wasn't for going +4 on his first 4 holes on Thursday.

Well done Coco. You'd have to think he'll pass Faldo's 6 majors, probably winning all 4 majors in the process.

I'm glad Rory didn't back off until the 18th tee. Well done Rory. Hope his Dad feels good if the details of the bet are true. (£400 @ 500-1 some years ago that Rory would win The Open).

Hope that's not a local, small time bookie. If so,it would finish him and you'd expect Rory would do the right thing and cover his dad's mates winnings himself and not put some pure unfortunate man on the dole.
