First topic message reminder :

Sunderland are apparently on for will Buckley again this weekend. Another one from Brighton.

Also after Nacer Chadli from spurs and Jonas from Valencia - along with still trying to persuade fabio borini.

Grabban, Lafferty, Hooper, Jerome. Four is fairly regulation I'd say.

I'm not pretending he's a world beater, but he should chip in with what 7/8/9 goals and will be a good option off the bench. As I said solid championship player

I went to watch Cardiff vs Wigan on tuesday and Kenwyne Jones was superb. He's found his level and will cause championship defenders nightmares. Which is why I think Jerome will be a good signing for Nowich. He's strong and quick and when he last played at this level for Cardiff and Birmingham he scored allot of goals. Not saying he'll do the same but its a case of, a player looking bang average in the prem but excelling at a lower level in the championship.

I really, really do not want Balotelli signing. I think his wages will be really high, he will disrupt the team and he's not worth the trouble.

Just can't see why Rodgers would want to sign such an inconsistent and disruptive player.

I do worry that he might see himself as some kind of genius who takes players who have struggled elsewhere, who haven't quite fulfilled their reputation and turn them into superstars ala Sturridge and Coutinho but would just rather he signed different players.

Would much rather he signed some young, hungry, less proven forward to be honest.

Rodgers signs Balotelli and everyone will accuse him of arrogance in thinking he can tame football's wild man.

Van Gaal signs him and "Utd's tactical genius does it again!!!!!!!"

I'd rather we kept Borini if no-one else is available instead of needlessly spunking away half the Suarez transfer fee. Sod's law says that Mario goes to Liverpool and is a disaster, but goes anywhere else and he's a Ballon D'or contender...harrumph!!!!!

Marios a top player when hes fit and focussed on football. Sadly thats easier said than done.

Probably the best available without spending a bomb. Falcao isnt really realistic as his Monaco wages are ginormous when you consider UK tax.

Yeah, I don't think Falcao is realistic but I still really don't want Balotelli.

I think Sturridge will be the main striker this year anyway, with the chance that Rodgers will play the diamond again on some occasions allowing for two forwards, Balotelli definitely won't be the player we want him to be if he is second choice forward. Not sure he would fit into the system that well either, he's not got particularly great movement in the same way Sturridge or Suarez has where they create space for others to run into and have pace. He's basically just a good finisher, but considering the money he'll be on and cost and the potential trouble he could cause, it's simply not worth it.

Balo's a top talent and could really establish himself as a WC player at Liverpool but it could go the other way. I can see him clashing with Sturridge during more difficult times.

Surprised Arsenal don't make a move. I think he'd suit their style better and they really need a quality CF.

You still win matches? I know the cliché is that 1-0 is better than 5-3 but it actually isn't. I know some will disagree but I don't think the defence actually let us down last season.

Lord love ya Crimey but some of our defending last season was pitiful. Lovren seems to have made a difference although I'd be happier if Johnson disappeared for a while. He makes me as nervous as Andre Wisdom did at times.

According to the ever reliable Daily Mail, Liverpool have done the deal for Balotelli at £16 million. Be worth it just to see him score the winner against City.....and punch John Terry!

He's confirmed to SkyItalia he's leaving too. United have made no bids for Di Maria & Bayern look favourites for Khedira as he's asking for ridiculous wages that are putting Chelsea/Arsenal off.

So Ancellotti has confirmed Khedira and Di Maria are both free to leave the club. I fancy Khedira to go to bayern and Di Maria to eventually leave for PSG but for me there is no reason why utd can't go in with a large package for both.

Theres more to just building a squad than seeing a big name and paying whatever is asked.

If LVG doesn't want either (Khedira's knee problem and Di Maria form before this season) then why would spend millions on transfer fees, signing fees and wages.

Can't see Johnson starting on Monday if Moreno is fit. Never seen a player drop so dramatically in form. Liked the look of Lovren on Sunday, not just for his defending but organisation aswell. Since Carra has left it was nice to see someone barking out orders again.

Definitely injuries for Johnson. I feel a bit sorry for him as I think he worked really hard to become a good full back and actually managed to do so before injuries over the last two years have just wrecked him. It's a recurring one with his knee, think he's had three of four of the same injury in the past few years.

Yeah expect Manquillo and Moreno will be first choice from here on out.

Criticised him at the start of last season and then it transpired he was nursing an ankle injury....not sure what's wrong THIS season but watching him charge down the wing against Southampton with little thought as to what he was going to do if another player approached him, I was concerned he may be suffering from concussion/cateracts

Can't see him starting too many games and think he'll be used as an "impact" player. It's to be hoped Gerrard puts him in his place before he steps out onto the field and let's him know in no uncertain terms that a proper kicking awaits if he does **** things up.

Crimey reminds of my dad when he found Kenny Jackett was going to be Wolves manager he admitted he was wrong eventually...

At 16m it's a no lose situation for Liverpool he either turns in a major star there and goes for 30/40m a few years down the line or he heads back to Italy again for about 8-12m. Realistically unless he starts battering people at the training ground i don't see an issue with his signing at Liverpool i don't see people like Skrtel getting battered by Balo honestly. Let's face it Balotelli will start 9/10 times for Liverpool him being on the bench was his main issue at Citeh

Also Johnson has regressed and could use a fresh start  angel

Mario to be an impact player, wtf? If he's not starting the only impact that will be happening will be right fist into those shiny new gnashers of Rodgers. If Mario comes, he's starting, otherwise imagine the moaning, disruption & strops upsetting the dressing room. All this Sturridge is a natural scorer rubbish is nonsense, Liverpool need a striker & although he's a risk, it's worthwhile at £16m

There is no way that Balotelli should be starting ahead of Sturridge for me. Sturridge has already outperformed what Balotelli achieved at Manchester City. Not sure why Sturridge isn't rated higher considering he got 21 in 29 games last year. The only way Balotelli starts is with Sturridge for me.

Balotelli is a good finisher and that's it, he's far too inconsistent and has poor movement.

Agree we need a striker.
Agree £16 million isn't bad, especially in the current market.

Just don't want it to be Balotelli. Think it's just going to end in tears, and it would be a mistake to alienate Sturridge for Balotelli. Think Sturridge is much more likely to be stick around. Also thought it was going to be nice when Suarez left for Liverpool to actually be in the news for only good things but can't see that happening with Balotelli.
