Summer Transfer Window
First topic message reminder :
Sunderland are apparently on for will Buckley again this weekend. Another one from Brighton.
Also after Nacer Chadli from spurs and Jonas from Valencia - along with still trying to persuade fabio borini.

Costa reportedly out for 6 weeks with torn hamstring. We can't let Torres go without bringing someone else in, Destro from Roma seems most likely

Sounds like Willy Carvalho may finally end up at United, the club having accepted that Moyes was their level and his signings should be pushed through

Sorry I can't work out who do do quotes on the phone -if you can.
Dolphin it's pretty much a done deal for rocky Alvarez.£1m loan fee fee for the year with an £11m permenant deal next summer if we avoid relegation.
We have also made a £6m bid for van dijk from Celtic. We desperately need centre backs. I can't see brown and o'shea playing every game. Brown is bound to be suspended at some point and o'shea will have his annual 4weeks off around Christmas.

Welcome to adulthood. It's all downhill from here.

Cleverley would probably do alright in a smaller team. The Old Trafford stage is too big for him.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
My thoughts exactly. He's not utterly, utterly dreadful, he's is just out of his depth at Utd and for England. He did well for Wigan and I think at a team like Villa where he won't be expected to play wonder balls or retain possession against every other team he'll do well.

It doesn't help that he's completely thrown to the wolves and expected to run the show at a young age because SAF and Moyes refused to sign a quality CM.

I wouldn't go that far. I think he was expected to be another Fletcher rather than a Carrick but failed at that. He's Milner but a CM rather than winger.

Borussia Dortmund have agreed a fee with Manchester United for the transfer of Shinji Kagawa.
Whilst Javier Hernandez has agreed personal terms with Juventus, but a fee hasn't been agreed yet.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Cleverley, Hernandez and Kagawa all potentially leaving must surely suggest more players are coming in, we'd be woefully short in midfield if not. I can't see Hernandez and Welbeck both leaving that would leave us with Van Persie and Rooney as our only strikers.

He'll be used as part of a midfield three, breaking forward from deep making space and creating for the three in front of him I imagine, I hate this part of the transfer window.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable commentator mistake, while trying to distinguish between Cambiasso & Konchesky. That's the only slight exciting thing that might happen, as a result of this pointless deal.

As wrong as Khalid Boulahrouz wearing 9, Woodgate 8 and Gallas 10. That was an odd season.
Re: Summer Transfer Window
I'm really fussy about it. One of the most annoying was at Tottenham where Dempsey took 2 because Cudicini had 23 despite 10 being free which Adebayor then ignored, then Cudicini left straight away anyway.
I don't think it has to be exact, but there are some really annoying number choices. Everton now have a #2 and a #5 as their back up forwards.

He's American. He should do what other American sports do. If you're always a single number like 7 and it's taken, be 77. Or if he wants 23, just be 32.
When I was 13 I wore number 8 as a left back.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Seen the Cleverly bid accepted.
Hope he will do well.
Our new guys have settled in well, played ok.
Cleverly could be a decent addition.
Also on a more important matter, isn't he the one with the hot bird, Georgina Dorestt?
Wouldn't mind bumping into her up in the big city.
Also think Carly Cole is pretty hot, saw her and Joe leaving VP saturday.

Valencia looking for Cleverly too.
Think it would be better for him to move there, however we are likely to want to do business with Villa as they'll have the cash to pay upfront.

Looks like we are clearing out the squad/wages.
I mean £9 million for Cleverly and £12m for Kagawa whilst nothing to be sniffed at is barely putting a dent in the £130 million we've spent so far this summer never mind any other deals.

No, no. Ron can stay where he is.
Need to keep him.

I'll be honest Nando. I had my doubts it was ever on.
Alonso to Munchen for £5m. Given the paucity of talent in the Bayern midfield at the moment, with Tiago, Bastian and Schweinsteiger out. £5 million for a faded, but still world class midfielder is brilliant business.

It seems odd with Benzema signing a new deal. I know Morata left but i suspect Karim would want to if Falcao joined. £5m for Alonso you just got royally mugged off especially if Khedira leaves on a free next year.kingraf wrote:I'll be honest Nando. I had my doubts it was ever on.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Yeah, he's been his usual brilliant self when he has played this season. Still, Kroos and Modric - potentially the best centre pairing in Europe, can't complain. He'll also get a few games for Munich given their situation.
As for Khedira - Well, if Alonso and Angel are gone, and Casework is on loan we can't sell him can we? You'd think so.

Not unless you're going to invest that 65m on 2 midfielders Im expecting Gustavo + 1 to join Madrid. Can't see Kroos/Modric doing well defensivelykingraf wrote:Yeah, he's been his usual brilliant self when he has played this season. Re: Summer Transfer Window
Modric will always put in a shift in defence, and Kroos is normally rather deep. It's obviously not ideal, but you have to find space for James, Benzene, Bale and Ronaldo. As for the £65m... I'm going out on a limb and saying that was purely a book balancing exercise. We aren't buying anybody with that money

I dunno, as much criticism as Torres gets, hes still got a better goal scoring record than Carroll had, scored an important goal or two and put in some decent shifts.
Carroll is just fairly pants.
