Anybody see Wilfried Bonys quote after moving to City? "I've dreamt of playing for Manchester City for 15 years."
15 years ago City were a division 3 team.

Those comments only ever hold any truth if they're about United, Liverpool or Arsenal, some of the other London teams too maybe but what is the point of saying that, do fans really care any more if the players care?

It's a funny quote HH, I don't care if the City fans are happy or not, at the end of the day he's made himself look an arse.

It makes me laugh more when French, Spanish, German or Italian players say it, fairly certain they'd have dreamt of playing in the top teams in their own country.

Not sure why you're so bothered about this comment. Have you heard the audio or was it translated from French to English, through media. Probably a translation error, he probably said, 'I've wanted to play in Manchester for 15 years'. He knows it's a footballing City & he knew how successful United have been.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Why do we always blame translation errors for players? Easy way out, I would also say it's a joke Liam, never said I was bothered I said it was funny

It would be a lot worse if he meant Manchester as a whole. Cos that basically means "Ive wanted to play for United for 15 years"

Wasn't it Robinho who thought he'd signed for United when he signed for City?

It must have been seeing City being the beneficiary of corrupt refereeing against Gillingham in the League two play off final that made him love the club.

Did mascherano not say on signing for Liverpool "I've always dreamt of playing for the Red Devils" or something to that effect?

Yes, in 2007 Mascherano put his foot in it before he had even kicked a ball for Liverpool, by insisting he cannot wait to become a Red Devil

West Brom interested in Matt Jarvis. Please take him, I like the guy but he's a busted flush at our place. And the extra wages freed up can get us M'Vila

Why would you want M'Vila, he's got attitude problems, been banned by the French FA previously, think he's had more off the field incidents than Carroll has had & he's only interested in money. He's a defensive minded midfielder, you already have Song. Makes no sense to me.

Konoplyanka might turn up at the Lane, talks have begun apparently in a deal worth £7m with 6 months left on contract. Always liked watching him play, good winger.

He's a good inverted winger, but surely Tottenham have enough wingers at the moment with Chadli, Lamela, Lennon and Townsend. I would be looking to get rid of at least two of those if bringing in Konoplyanka.

Spurs are trying to offload Lennon to Stoke or Hull & Paulinho to possibly Italy, in order to make this Konoplyanka deal happen.

No guarantees that Song stays and we play with three in the middle so would suit us. Sam will always take a punt on quality with an attitude

Why not just wait until the Summer and get him for nothing, they did this with Holtby a couple of years for no real benefit, seems a braindead decision.

Wait until the summer??? He's in demand & need to take him now, otherwise he'll sign elsewhere surely. £7m for him is cheap.
Guest- Guest
Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
I'm pretty sure they can sign him on a pre-contract agreement so it's £7m for 4 months which doesn't seem cheap at all to me.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
£7m this window or lose him to a rival & still have Lennon & have to look for alternatives this summer etc. That kind of player, with his qualities, would cost £15m/£20m in the summer. Definitely say take the offer now.
Guest- Guest
Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Why would they lose him if they simply sign a pre-contract agreement for the Summer, if somebody else wants him it makes no difference anyway.

Unless their offering 70-100k a week I doubt he'd sign a pre-contract honestly. I suspect he'd wait to see if better then Spurs came along...

That begs the question why he would consider signing for them in the first place unless they're offering that sort of money.

The agent would still want a slice for negotiating the contract anyway, I see no real upside to spending £7mil for 4 months worth of playing time.

Was the best I could think of. Unless he just wants out quickly l himself so would jump at the chance to leave for a club he thinks worthy. Shame that Spurs are in, we've been linked but won't have a sniff with the clubs rumoured to be interested

If that's true we'll definitely be buying a defender this january, would rather it was someone top class unlike Otamendi.

He was quoted in the summer as not being interested in joining Utd at the time due to not having CL football, does he know something everyone else doesn't about Spurs?

Doubt the Otamendi offer is true. Been at Valencia barely six months & hearing the buy out clause needs to be matched, which is apparently £40m.

According to Sky, Spanish club Valencia have confirmed to them that they've received a bid of 35million euros (just under £27million) for defender Nicolas Otamendi. The club have rejected the bid and insist they won't sell the player.
Apparently,WBA have bid £5m for Jamie Vardy of Leicester & Lucas Leiva is now to remain at Anfield this window.

Swansea interested in Martin Olsson
Interesting one, last season in the PL he was very consistent, good player. This year he's been the exact opposite, very inconsistent and very shaky, so I think if we can get around £5m for him take it and we've got Garrido in reserve who can step in and then we can spend the money elsewhere (ie. Centre half)

Sky sources are poopie LiamB, just because old Guillem Balague hears something & tweets it, Sky instantly believe it. United still reject they've made a bid, tend to side with the sources in the MEN personally.
Vardy to WBA rejected apparently, but with Kramovic or whatever his name is & Ulloa, you doubt Vardy will stay at Leicester.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
The problem is the Sky report simply says a team have had a bid rejected and knowing we're after a defender our name instantly gets thrown in the hat.
Bit torn on Flecther, he's no longer good enough for us but he's the last of the youth products left so i'd be sad to see him leave, he deserves to end up at a team like West Ham rather than WBA. He'll do a job for your lot, won't complain about minutes and will just quietly get on with things, one of the last true professionals left, cracking lad is Fletch.

Funny you say that, remember at Blackburn he was awesome in the Prem but terrible in the championship.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Sun telling us more sh@t again/ £112m for Marquinhos!! He already cost (an overpriced) £28m from Roma. He has got potential the lad but that figure for a young centre back is ridiculous really. But the Sun just going over the top, as usual. But did read from the Daily Mirror that Palace might be in for Stephane M'bia from Sevilla. Already played for QPR a couple of seasons ago, available on a free transfer, that's a coupe of a signing for them if that's true.
It would also be a really good signing for West Brom if they could get McManaman from Wigan. He's cost between £4-7m I'd say but I'd bet he'd be worth it. Only 23 as well. Potential.
I'm surprised Bolasie hasn't attracted more attention that what he already has done. He's a top player. Great pace, great skill, great crossing ability and can prove an absolute nightmare for any full back.

Varane reportedly available for around 20m due to being pushed out of the first team atm, or spend 6x that for Marquinhos, hmm tough call.

I don't think they'd sell for £20m but I'd sure think PSG would look for around £35m for Marquinhos. Varane is much better and would be available for maybe even less than that amount.

I doubt Varane is available for £20m, he started at the weekend. He's not as good as what people think he is, constantly makes mistakes on the ball & then just uses his pace to get out of the bad situation he's made for himself.

That sounds exactly like Lovren...minus the pace to get himself out of his many mistakes

Newcastle United MD Lee Charnley says the club are unlikely to do any business in the "difficult" January transfer window - and he can't see any of their stars leaving either, writes the Newcastle Chronicle.
Surprise, Surprise. We've got too many points for Ashley to be concerned & for him to get his wallet out.
