Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
The quite brilliant defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has made his loan move to Serie A giants Roma permanent following a loan spell, Newcastle have confirmed.
There was a clause in Yanga-Mbiwa's loan agreement, which meant that if the French international played twenty times during his loan spell then Roma are obliged to make the deal permanent with a reported £5.5m transfer fee.
Will we see that money again OR will Ashley do the right thing & spend it on a talent such as Dele Alli.

Further news tonight, some even saying it's been agreed, that Dele Alli will join Newcastle United for around £4m, with him returning on loan to MK Dons for the remainder of the season. Great news, if true.

Comical. Cavani might be terrible on the left hand side of a three, however, I'd like to see the faces of those Parisian fans, when they see the donkey that is Adebayor replacing Edinson & attempting to do the same job.

Palace look close to three deals: Mutch, Zaha and Lille's defender Pape Souaré. Also:
Guardian article wrote:The former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi, a free agent, has been at Palace’s Beckenham training ground this week hoping to earn a contract back in the top flight, though there remains interest from West Bromwich Albion and QPR in his availability.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Zaha could turn out to be one of the worst signings we've ever made, no doubt under Ferguson he'd have been given a run in the team and developed properly but the Moyes situation ruined it for him which is a shame.
Arsenal sign Paulista, never seen him play but being uncapped for Brazil could be a sign of his level, a lot of the defenders being touted about have no international experience which is odd.

To be fair, he's only 24 & Brazil under Scolari, was just a 'matey' team of who Scolari knew & trusted leading upto the tournament & during it. Never really gave the opportunity to bring in new, fresher faces. Only seen him a few times on Sky watching La Liga & he's looked decent & physically strong, which suits PL demands. £10m rising to £14m is not too steep really.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Signed Callum McManaman for around 4 million. Not sure what to make of it. Looked good initially, with the cup final performance the obvious stand-out, but hasn't really kicked on since then. Still, he's the "type" of player we needed in the squad.
Supposedly still in the market for a left back(Neil Taylor been heavily linked), Central Midfielder(Fletcher, though looks West Ham are favourities for him), Another winger(Any of Sako, Jarvis or Matt Phillips by the looks of it) and a striker(Maybe Gestede from Blackburn). Gonna be a busy few days!

Hasn't started many games this season for Roma, career stalled after being hyped & linked with big moves. Roma looking to bring in Shakhtar forward Luiz Adriano as his replacement.

Be a good capture would Luiz Adriano for Roma, always produced on champs Lge stage, whenever I've seen him. As for Destro, typical Italian, in deciding to stay in that B rate league.

Lassana Diarra is also training at the club

Fletcher is way past it now, awful signing, but it's only a free, so it won't hurt.
As for Ings, is he heading to Liverpool. Rodgers having another mare, never good enough for Liverpool.

Reckon one of your midfielders will become available Dolph? Pretty stacked in the centre of the park now.
Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Nolan, although some quiet words around Nobes. I'd rather Jarvis. But we've lost Morrison and then no idea if Song will stay after the seasons end, but I don't expect him to. Fletcher I like, experienced and good on the ball. We've been forced to play Nolan deep in midfield with Kouyate away, that's one man out and we're stuck with Kev starting. So a couple wouldn't be too bad

Not entirely convinced by Cuadrado. But considering the bit part role that Schurrle has been playing this year, and it's effectively a swap, it's probably worth a punt. Despite there being pretty much no chance I still harboured forlorn hopes we might have been able to snag Reus in the summer, this pretty much puts the final nail in my dreams!

Pretty much goes in the territory of free transfers. Hes not getting a fee to leave so basically we cover a small transfer fee to get him now which is built into his wage. Id also imagine a lot of it will handle appearances considering his illness. I also am not sure its entirely true being as it was lead by TalkSport

Rumour is that Fletcher may have failed the medical. Would be a massive shame for the guy, and annoying for us. Id imagine it may throw us at Lassana Diarra

Depends what you class as a "big move" to move to one of the biggest clubs in the world in a mess or a team that will never win anything looking to secure another season of Thursday night football.

Spurs after Dele Alli now, guess the kid will end up going to the Lane, which would be disappointing. Rumour Davide Santon will rejoin Inter on loan tomorrow.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Strong rumours that we're in for Demarai Gray at Birmingham. Can't see it personally, not a Pulis-type signing. Think someone like Jarvis is more likely personally.
Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
I hope so. I want him gone, it just hasn't worked out. We desperately need to do something tomorrow with Reid, Collins and Tomkins all off injured. Our two reserve youth defenders are also injured so our only centre back that has had any involvement in the senior squad would be 16 year old Reece Oxford.
We could do with more in midfield too, whilst an extra attacking option wouldn't be awful

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Santon has already left for Inter, doubt anyone else will leave. As much as I love Sissoko, he ain't good enough for Arsenal, just as Cabaye couldn't make an impact at PSG. He's better off staying, than sitting on a bench 18 months before a home European championships. Players like Cabaye & Remy will be demanding moves at some point for first team football, so they get in that French squad.

Re: January Transfer Window Thread 14-15 season
Given Newcastle are happy to sell on, you would have thought they would have been a good option for him.
Likely first team pl football and opportunity to move to a bigger club if he excels (if fee is decent) vs struggling to get into a side that will float around Europa league.

Can't get my head round it either, it would of been a typical Ashley signing, with great sell on fee potential. Disappointed.

West Ham are today linked to everyone. David Sullivan is in France. But at home we've also been linked to Gomis, Adebayor, Kaboul, Distin, Boyata and although I haven't seen it yet I expect a link to Lambert and/or Shelvey at some point cos that usually happens
