This is why we love Wayne Barnes.
First topic message reminder :
Review of Wayne Barnes v Ireland 2015:
https://youtu.be/IEuXfewLcuY
Ireland lose again with Barnes as ref. Its getting ridiculous now. 3 wins in the last 13 games v Barnes. Really hope we don't get him for any WC games.
Joe Schmidt also has issues with Barnes:

Graham Henry also suspects something isnt quite right about Barnes' lopsided officiating too

If the whole of the Welsh media were not sued after the last world cup when Rolland carded Warburton, they never will be.

The way I see it Heaf, the Englishman Edwards got his team well primed to take down Ireland and give this home team a bit of a boost for the world cup as they are now more than likely going to win the 6Ns with Ireland 2nd and Wales still 3rd!
Interesting also after the weekend Edwards says he is looking for a new job after the world cup. No doubt he will either screw the WRU or the RFU will welcome him with open arms. Hopefully he doesn't want the Ireland defence job, now that Les Kiss will be setting up his stall in Ulster after the world cup.

Well the post of the zero tolerance stance during the tournament seems to have gone. Guess they don't care so much about things. Have you complained about things, or they aren't going to react to things to be fair.

anyway, ireland need an attacking coach not a defensive coach.
they also have no need of a breakdown infringement coach as i would say they are world class in this department. inventive, stylish, ballsy, cheeky, and back it up with chat to the referee. bravo.

A big loud mouth is I think something that Ireland needs. I think we might have too many pen-pushing softies now. I really do.
I think the balance isn't quite right in personality types since we lost Plumtree, who I'd suspect had more bark than any of the current crew. Joe needs a foil for his business suit approach. He needs a wall slammer and a glass door headbutter! I'm joking but I'm not. I'm in Baskerville Poodle form now! I'm serious.

I don't think Edwards would be suitable for Ireland. Wasn't he suspended by the WRU for having a fight with the Irish Sport Psychologist over singing an Irish song. He wouldn't last five minutes in Ireland if he got offended by Irish people singing.

You heard the story wrong, I think, Sin. It was a Welsh bus. The singing was by the Welsh team and staff (whether Edwards was singing or not is not known). But it is that Irish Psychologist that took offence to the Irish song/songs and went to Edwards to complain. Then the hassles started. Edwards said the Psychologist misunderstood the mood and over-reacted (Welsh boys singing Irish songs after a Welsh win?? - I doubt it was an over-reaction when I can imagine how the lyrics changed) But anyway, that's it. The Psychologist was the one offended and Edwards said they were best mates within the team structure normally.

He must have 'reacted' to the protests coming from the Irish guy. But I've only recently read an account of it because someone else brought up an allusion to it a few days ago.

No Great Gats has now invoked his Next Lions Coach Rights and dictated that Sexton must go into hibernation for the more important Lions tour to New Zealand. He wants him fit, not grumpy and in tip top condition so that he can retire him before the first Test.

But sure it was the old Master JD2 replaced, not Sexton. That didn't go too well on the rematch, the next time they shared a field (JD2 BOD). But sure, Gats didn't think BOD would even be around the following year in an Ireland shirt to meet his Lions

Quite a lot wrong with that. I'll assume you're fishing. You can start by looking at the lineups last year, particularly Welsh centres if you're not.

Yea, Gatland sent hard man Scott Williams to try and take BOD out. That worked well for him.

Re: This is why we love Wayne Barnes.
Quite interesting the whole Welsh-Irish rivalry!
Personally I thought Barnes did a solid job. He didn't make any notable howlers and he reffed a very absorbing game for the neutral.
Ireland cannot blame Barnes for their inability to spot an overlap and take it.
With a bit more accuracy in the right areas of the field Ireland could have won the match.

Oh no it's not Griff. It's just 'banter'. Banter always comes with a cut-throat razor - everyone pretends that it doesn't, and shouldn't. But it always does. It's just that the Six Nations makes the metal glint, so people see it more clearly.

To be fair, you can't have come on this thread and anticipated there to be worthwhile discussion. It has been apparent from the final whistle on Sat, that some are only interested in Wayne Barnes bashing instead of looking at the real issue of how their team were initially caught like rabbits in headlights (momentum lost with the Samson Lee injury break) and how they were so blunt despite countless phases and glaringly obvious overlaps. Even Jiffy tried telling them it was on etc.

I hope you're right though even if Nige did let the French SH feed the ball straight to the No.8 (it literally didn't touch any other player) in the scrum before they scored their late try to win last year.
Saw a page on the IRB site on update to 6Ns officials. There was a link on the BBC team of the week page but can't get on at mo.

Oh God. No fun in that, Rev!? Where's the 'banter' fun in regurgitating facts and figures and greyscale analysis, put down on pie charts and projected onto a wall in a powerpoint presentation?
That's 'banter'? Dear God, this place IS dying. Griff might be right .

In fairness, most of us know that Barnes is a terrible ref. How Rolland could have been run out of the game for making the correct call and Barnes get away with being totally incompetent is mind boggling.
The Irish management have requested an explaination of Barnes' refereeing from Joel Jutge of World Rugby and in particular how he awarded the final scrum penalty for Wales which they were unable to figure out (according to Simon Easterby, Ireland's forwards coach).
