First topic message reminder :
Now the season is over, the rumours begin!
Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal

A few bookies have stopped betting on Petr Cech to Arsenal. Down to 1/10 elsewhere apparently no swap just £11m + add ons.

I don't rate Cech as much now (feel he's dropped off in the past few years) - but how on earth Liverpool weren't in for him is beyond me.

Why sign Petr Cech when you can sign a Championship backup for free

Great signing. Quality CM, links up with Dorrans, wish we'd kept them both and sacked of Sessegnon and McManaman

What's his best role - more of a DM or box to box guy?

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Sessegnon will be gone this summer anyway. Don't know why you'd want to keep two players who have been good servants but were now at best 5th choice to play in the centre of midfield.
McManaman was injured for the majority of time since joining in January. To say that Pulis doesn't like wingers is ridiculous, his two key players at Stoke were Etherington and Pennant, and then Bolasie and Puncheon at Palace. He didn't play them at Albion cos we've only had one fit wide player for the majority of his time(Brunt) and even then he's had to play left back on occassion.
Olly-Mulumbu was at his best for us as a box to box player alongside a more disciplined defensive midfielder, like Yacob or earlier on, Paul Scharner.

It appears Ospina is being forced out to Fenerbache with Cech heading in. Personally id have packed Chesney out on loan. Ospina is a decent no.2

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Well names bounded everywhere for Newcastle but a couple keep coming back all the time:
Tyrone Mings - Ipswich defender - 22yo (£10m)
Charlie Austin - QPR Striker - £15m
Troy Deeney - Watford Striker - £10m
Will Hughes - Young Derby player - MacLarens old club
Yohan Cabaye - Returning?
And Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal after Sissoko - £17m

Sissoko won't be going anywhere for less than £25m, given Ashley's record
Mings at £10m is so wrong on so many levels
As for Austin, we should of banged a huge deal for him & wages a month ago, can see this slipping through our fingers now
Deeney at £10m is so wrong on so many levels
As for Cabaye, I'd have him back in a heartbeat, one of my favourite players. Highly unlikely to return in my opinion
Will Hughes is massively over-rated, blowing £10m on him is again a bad direction to go down.
Not massively impressed with things so far, you could even throw in Lewis Dunk & Lingard on loan, who have been linked.

Not sure where you get 5th best from. I'd put our central midfield options in the following order: Gardner, Yacob, MULUMBU, Fletcher, Morrison, Dorrans, Baird, my mother, your gran, Brunt.Mat wrote:Sessegnon will be gone this summer anyway. McManaman was fit for the last two months and barely featured. I also know that Jonas doesn't rate him and that he's not the hardest worker on the training ground. Pulis has demonstrated that he likes four CBs at the back, despite those CBs not being cut out for FB duty, and that he has no confidence in his wingers, despite having an abundance of wide players at his disposal. Etherington was only a key player for him because he could put a ball in. Pennant was atrocious for Stoke.
Mulumbu at his best is a dynamic box to box player. He's not a playmaker, he's not a finisher, but he can win a ball, is a walking yellow card, and makes for an effective combatant alongside a warrior-type DM. He does have a good pass on him but don't expect Luka Modric, expect Joe Allen.

Weimann is a funny one, suddenly Villa lost complete interest in him. I'd have liked to pick him up on the cheap.

Weimann is a good signing for Derby.
Sorry to see him go, always liked him, not brilliant, but tried hard.
Be good to see Him and Bent do well in the championship.

Weimann doesn't have the technical ability to be a Prem player - but his physical attributes (speed/quickness) will mean he does well in the Championship.
Sort of like a smaller Cameron Jerome

Himself and Bent would be a good force for Derby.
Interesting to see how they do.
Weimann could still cut it in the prem.

Apparently, Carlos Tevez has agreed to return to Boca Juniors for around £5m
Matt Lowton has signed for Burnley from Aston Villa to replace Kieran Trippier, who has signed for Tottenham
Cameroon captain Stephane Mbia has joined Trabzonspor after two seasons at double Europa League champions Sevilla, the Turkish club have confirmed.

Lowton's similar to Weimann. Was expected to do big things a couple of years ago but stagnated at Villa.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Lowton looked promising alright.
That cracking goal at Stoke, had a good season.
Hutton was preferred.
Different manages see things in different players.
Shame Lowton has gone.
Like Gil. Lambert bought him and played him. Looked a good player.
Sherwood comes in and doesn't play him.
Did read he doesn't he enough in training for him to warrant a plave in the squad.

In fairness on his day Gabby is better than some of the cannon fodder that have played/do play in the prem.
Just a shame he doesn't have to many 'on his day' days.

Van Dijk is a good player, he would fit in nicely at somewhere like Southampton though i'd like him in at Newcastle to get rid of the god awful, Williamson,Taylor and Collocini. Might help with De Jong and Janmaat there too!
Inter Milan are to confirm today they have signed Miranda from Athletico Madrid for 11 million pounds.
