Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
First topic message reminder :
Now the season is over, the rumours begin!
Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal
What else?

Schneiderlin and Clyne both solid signings, id hesitate to go beyond that though.
QPR paid 5m for Austin when they were a Championship club 2 years ago, he wont be let go on the cheap. Same reason Rhodes is still at Blackburn

Bacca confirms he's off to Milan.
I hope Man United do sign Coleman, cracking player and for me better than Clyne.

£15m is steep, but Ashley probably won't make a move for Austin, until he knows a deal is in place with Besiktas for Cisse. Shame if Cisse went, had impressive stats for us, but given his age & dodgy knee, can see why they are wanting to offload.

Real Madrid make £15m bid for Lazio's Lucas Biglia to bolster their midfield following the departure of Khedira & possibly Illaramendi

Giannelli Imbula of Marseille is set to join Porto for around £15m (€22m). He adds to the long list of players leaving the financially stricken French club, with Gignac & Payet already being sold.
Aston Villa have had a £3.5million transfer bid rejected for Groningen's Tjaronn Chery
AC Milan have confirmed the permanent signing of Italian international midfielder Andrea Bertolacci for a fee of €20m

Not sure he's been the same keeper since the head injury but very solid signing.

Yeah good signing that. Him and Ospina are 2 very good keepers.

Still think Szezesny will be a good keeper. Seeing as he and Cech kept the most clean sheets in 2013/14 he's clearly got the ability. Needs to sort out his attitude though.

Szezesny is a liability, always waiting for the next foul up & gets sent off too many times for keepers standards.

According to the reports United have only offered an extra £300k from their opening bid. Strange.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Probably because it is believed that Ramos has asked to leave and join United
Get it done Ed, if we can get Ramos for 30-35m then I'll be happy with that (better than that ridiculous fee that was touted last week), sure he can be a walking red card but so was Vidic, he isn't afraid of getting stuck in and he can bring the ball out from the back and the most important part of all he'd be a leader at the back, something lacking since the departure of Vidic and Rio

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
I'd take his red card record at Madrid with a pinch of salt, as aggressive play gets punished more harshly than in the Premier League. Ramos is one of those snide players who you love if he's on your side, but despise when he's against you. He'll be a massive upgrade on the centre halves United currently have.

I'll still believe it when I see it, can see Madrid offering him a new contract
if, and its a big if, it does come off though. I can't wait for the Chelsea game and watch him up against Costa

I hope it doesn't happen because a) It'll strengthen your defence, and b) I'm concerned at the rumours they'll look to replace him with Koscielny.

I heard Madrid are lining up Shkodran Mustafi or Otamendi from Valencia to replace Sergio Ramos.

Is that the same Mustafi who started his career at Everton?

Yes it is, hes been impressive since joining Valencia & is heavily linked along with Otamendi. Don't think Koscielny would be an option, Madrid will look to weaken a resurgent Valencia & most likely take one of the two.

Valencia have been spending a fair bit this summer under Lim. Can see them pushing for 3rd this year.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Reports are suggesting that Barca have agreed a fee with Juventus for Paul Pogba rumoured to be £64m, while I'd be happy to see him in La Liga as opposed to ending up at City or Chelsea, it does beg the question - what is the point in Barcas transfer ban if this is indeed true
They've technically not been been punished. The ban was conveniently delayed to help them bring in a number of players, and now they're still allowed to sign players but not register them till January 1st, its so stupid. They shouldn't be allowed to enter in to any transfer activity at all until 2016

Completely agree, already signed Aleix Vidal & now possibly Pogba, during this ban.
Reports that Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has opted to activate the buy back clause they had on Lucas Vázquez for around €1million.

It was also "conveniently delayed" when Chelsea signed Kakuta. Barca are entitled to appeal just like everyone else

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
I actually have no problem with them signing players they cannot register. Its still a disadvantage and its all more transparent than the alternative. We all know players are tapped out all the time. I dont think there has been a transfer in 20 years where it wasnt so. This way they're doing it in public rather than agreeing deals then waiting to talk about it.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Be interesting to see if the terms of the deals mean that Atleti and Juve are allowed to register Vidal and Pogba for the group stages of the Champions League, knowing that they'll be cup-tied for Barca. also will Vidal be allowed to play against Barca in La Liga?

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
You mean Sevilla, not Atletico Madrid. I'd imagine a club like Barcelona, given the size of the deals, would contractually include the removal of those two players from their current teams champions league squad.
As for Sevilla, they are close to agreeing a fee for Leroy Fer.

Doubt they will touch Atletico. Simeone is really going for it this summer with Jackson Martinez, Vietto & apparently having his medical is Konoplyanka.

Destro is one of those players who will waste his talent. Keeps club hopping & he's got temperament issues. Heard he's more likely to go to Monaco for the money.

Pato was completely different, outrageously talented just beset by injuries which robbed him of his explosive pace and eventually his confidence. He was starting at Milan as a teenager when they were still good, Destro has only had two good season's in serie A and one was at Siena. He would do a job at Monaco or even West Ham but Pato had more talent and potential in his pinky toe than Destro.
