Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
First topic message reminder :
Now the season is over, the rumours begin!
Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal
What else?

The Palace Cabaye link is from the Mirror so im not sure I trust it
The Guardian are also running it, which suggests it has legs.
They're also saying that West Brom are interested in both Charlie Austin and Rickie Lambert.

No, we can't afford Austin, so our main striker target is now Rickie Lambert. It was Demba Ba, but he's a mercenary, who was only interested in money. Not exactly delighted with the potential signing of Lambert.

It's better than Peter Crouch! And he'd be a good foil for Berahino, if he stays.LiamB wrote:No, we can't afford Austin, so our main striker target is now Rickie Lambert. So far I am very happy with the signings this window.
Likely Outgoings- Sterling, Lambert, Ballotelli (if someone is stupid enough to sign him), Borini.
Looking at that we will definately need at least 1 new striker, a proven one at that.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Remember when £11 million was an insulting bid for Clyne?
It's great to see so much early dealings from Liverpool, history has shown that making signings early can often help. Really happy with the level of signings as well.
Nathaniel Clyne could be the first choice right back for the next 10 years, so £12.5 million should be a steal. James Milner is a really solid, dependable experienced Premier League midfielder. He's great depth and can cover a number of positions as well slotting in well with the philosophy. Danny Ings is a decent striker for £6 million, still only young and plenty of time to develop, definitely an improvement on Borini and Balotelli. Robert Firminio is obviously a bit of a wild-card, could go any way really, hoping it's a Suarez type situation. He's done well in Germany who arguably have a similar style of league to the Premier League so hopefully he'll adapt quickly. Joe Gomez is a good young signing. Adam Bogdan is definitely an improvement on Brad Jones.

Lovren and Balotelli weren't exactly amazing before they joined us were they? Lorven will likely remain at the club and could find some form, not that I hold any hope, Lallana was injured early on in the season and is hardly a "wrecked" player is he

Lovren did well at Southampton but had already flopped at Lyon.
Lallana has been doing fine at Liverpool, injuries aside he had a pretty decent season and is now an England regular.
Mario Balotelli is a waste of space as a footballer, puts in no effort and would routinely miss training, feign illness and generally be a nuisance. There's a reason he was described as unmanageable by Mourinho and a reason why every team sells him at a loss.

Agree 100% with Crimey here. Lovren had one good season with Southampton and they mugged Liverpool off on that deal.Crimey wrote:NickisBHAFC wrote:Lovren, Lallana, Ballotelli, 3 of many wrecked by Liverpool

Lallana has not only been okay at Liverpool but he's been excellent recently, including for England.
Balotelli has been a failure at every single club he's ever been at. I'd not sign him if Liverpool paid West Brom £10m a season for 10 years.

Liverpool are really doing nothing that suggests they'll worry the top four. Yet. If we get Remy and a top drawer centre back id fancy us to finally win at Anfield.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been backed into odds-on to join Liverpool following a surge of betting activity.
Sky Bet reported a run of bets on Wednesday morning on the Belgian striker becoming Brendan Rodgers' latest signing at Anfield.
Liverpool set to continue their Europa League Standard spending spree.

Considering Liverpool challenged for top four last year when playing badly and after a dreadful summer transfer window, it's not at all out of the question that should the new signings start well that top four is achievable.

Shaqiri to Stoke is a good signing. Inter aren't who they once were, and I'd imagine the ninth best team in England pays better than the eightth best team in Italy. An attacking triumvirate of Crouch-Shaqiri-Bojan make for an intriguing challenge. While, if he re-signs, Shaqiri-bojan-Moses looks like MSN on a (incredibly small scale) budget.

Benteke is a good signing. But they are not signing players that will match the buys from those above them.

Shaqiri was supposedly only on 2 millions euros a year when he signed for Bayern, and Stoke can easily afford that. Doesn't look like Moses will go back to the Britannia. He seems to think he's got better options.

Not convinced Turan is Barcelona quality. So they're banned & have signed Vidal, Pogba & Turan.

Doesn't really work like that though, Inter are still one of the richest teams in Italy despite being 8th in the league. He was on 2.5 million pa after tax at Inter. It would be a good signing for Stoke but being an Inter fan it's an incredible act of stupidity from Mancini who wanted him so badly 6 months ago, granted he was poor but he should be given more time. Having said that i'd rather he leave than Kovacic, if Shaqiri went from Bayern to Inter to Stoke, in a year he'll be in the SPL at this rate.

I've heard he's going to Chelsea with Filipe Luis going the other way plus cash and Cuadrado going to Inter. Don't think he's quite good enough for Barca or really fit's in with their style of play.

Not very well, but he's hardly alone after finishing 8th and he was really only starting every second game. Mancini took a while to really integrate him to the team, close to two months, and then after a couple of mediocre games he was out the team again. Plus Inter weren't playing as a winger more a second striker, as the team played with no width. But you could see his potential so it would be stupid to let him go after so few games, reminds me of Coutinho a lot. Player with a lot of potential but not given a run in the team often and sold way under his market value.
