First topic message reminder :

Cari wrote:Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? king

Munsty - that all sounds good thumbsup

I think I liked my SU bar so much because I didn't often go to it, so I never got bored with it. I never lived on campus at Uni so made got myself a local pub in town to go to instead, twas called The Ship and Castle and it's a CAMRA pub, I love, love, love it!

Mick - if that's directed at me, how mean! Crying or Very sad

We have our own local but have gone off it in recent months though that may be down to the increased workload.

The problem I find with our SU is playing music like Drum n'Bass and techno at about half one during the day when there are only about 3-5 people there just looking for a chat.

Ours always showed the music channels unless there was a big sporting event on then they'd show that.

Never have Cari to be honest though at some stage I think I will. I normally stay away because of it. That shouldn't really be the case though considering it's the cheapest place to drink around.

You know what, I think I will do that from now on.

I'm sure if you ask them to turn it down it shouldn't be a problem - given that there's hardly anyone in there as well. if they refuse (which is unlikely) complain to the SU president.

You should be so lucky, Dreamer. Have had Ron the Builder making a new shower room for the last two weeks - control of the personal plumbing is at a premium while the house plumbing is under modification.

Megacities on the BEEB now. Loving it. Mexico City is fast turning into a scene from Blade Runner. 20 million people and growing, in one Metropolis, is asking for it.

It is only going to get worse for all Megacities.

I'm sure there some great things about Mexico City, but there's something fundamentally sad about it for me. It was built on top of the Aztecs' city of Tenochtitlan, which was so beautiful that the first Spanish to see it had to rub their eyes because they'd never seen such a sight.

Mick - that is an option for sure. But I had a long day over there on Saturday, and the journey home is lengthy. I was thinking more of the pub in Marylebone where everyone met up before the Sarries v Leinster game. Marylebone to Harrow in 11 minutes on the train, and one of 5 buses I can get towards home. Job done Very Happy

There are loads of sad episodes of history, but the history of the Conquistadors in the New World is one of the saddest. The Spanish had just finished driving the Moors out of Spain and saw the Native Americans as just another set of heathens.

Dreamer, my locals were the Coops and Yr Hen Llew Du Bach Boi. One night we decided to broaden our horizons a bit. I had always liked the Ship and Castle. We had the best drinking games session ever in there, fantastic place.
