A few of us are being TUPE'd along with a bunch of customers/contracts being novated to another company. Unfortunately the other company wants the customers but not us.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Jules,
Had many great conversations with my brother driving down to Albury on the weekend. We all know the world is changing rapidly; ruthless things happening. Purpose of our journey was to meet a senior government guy. Two steps down from Deputy PM (Nat Leader) He was told to "Get things cracking! ... We have all this money to spend on regional development (inland rail) now the Election is over."
Therefore we are targeting new businesses (spin-off ancillary industries) that will (but have already started big time!) begin investing along the town and land all the way along the corridor from Albury-Wodonga to Goondiwindi on the Qld border (1030km/640 miles) It went very well. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.
Guess the point I'm making is there must be some types of opportunities still; given your skills & knowledge. We all have to continually reinvent ourselves. Stand still; and you get swamped by Millennials, new immigrants, etc. But you have something they don't have - local knowledge... other contacts, people in the industry.
You need to maybe get a good bunch of like-minded people together... with a fresh (yet simple) idea... and just go for it. Take your time. Think about today. What is needed? Map it all out in your head and on paper. I'm sort of doing the same - things can take off again in a new direction more quickly than you'd have thought. You'll be right!
Tedesco scores! @ 79:57.... NSW 24-20.. kick to come. This is all too much...

Recently I did set up a new company - Sharper Productions Ltd - to make films. But it was never intended to make money - not a living wage anyway - more a way of make a hobby more official.

Added a bit more.
Great name Sharper Productions.
Think of the abundance of things... the people, the networks, the dreams... don't be afraid.
Do the sort of thing you enjoy doing... but in your own creative way. You pick and choose.
You are in a good position really if you think about it. Kids grown(ing?) up... they are (or will be) robust and independent soon.
So don't freak out about the money too much. It's important now of course, yes, but you'll make more money in more enjoyable ways later.
A successful mate of mine makes many little deals. Things he can control. Some fail but others take off. But it all adds up over time.

How goes it, Rick?
I had a good rant yesterday. I sensed Jules was a bit distressed so I tried to give him some positive thoughts, that's all.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Positive thoughts, that's the key PJ.
I'm not panicking just yet. TUPE is set for 1st Aug, then I get one month plus 3 weeks notice pay, plus 8 weeks redundancy pay - which actually becomes 12 weeks, as all 8 years I worked there, I was over 41 (redundancy = £6300 according to online government calculator).
So as long as I get a job by end of November, I shouldn't lose out any, unless I end up on less salary.

Not a bad cushion, yeah? But money tends to burn quickly these days.
The key is to spend frugally and shop around for the best deals.
Whats the weather like over to the west of you... no chance of rain?

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Sorry to hear about your redundancy Jules going through a similar thing myself. Can you let me know what area you live in, how long you're willing to travel and what sort of skills you have? A friend and I have privately been gathering information and contacts, and arranging some of my fellow guards into jobs inside and outside of security. If you could pm me some details I could ask around.
No personal details or pictures of genitals please, just age, qualifications, skills, experience, ideal work schedule and general location. Whether or not you drive and if you dont find it too vulgar, your current salary or ballpark figure if you're not comfortable with that.
Not promising anything but always nice to have people around to do these things.
Congratulations Rick, and condolences to PJ, I'm sorry the wonderful sight of the Indians being sent packing was followed by your team taking the next flight home.

Made the mistake once of assuming some airbnb guests from Melbourne were frenzied AFL fans and asked "So who do you follow?"
I'll never forget the empty stares and dumbfounded looks I got.
I've had others from there who were frenzied fans though... almost didn't talk to one another.

Cool... at night. Quite nice during the day. It'll be 23 degrees Sunday-Tuesday... that's very odd for mid-winter!
Stayed over at Mum's the other night. It was like sleeping in a forest. So good for sleeping... and very easy on the eye under the half moonlight.
I was half-woken at about 4am by some very unusual bird noises. It's easy to sleep through but it certainly startled me during my deep slumber.
One sounds like a high-pitched version of The Joker on acid (the 60s cartoon version one) .. a maniacal series of perfect notes... and clicking sounds getting more 'angrier' towards the end. Like a series of gaming chips hitting the table at a casino in quick succession. (I'd imagine because I don't go to casinos)
Not sure what the heck it was. (nothing like a kookaburra... although they were there too)
I've been searching for the noise on the net but I can't find anything like it on a sound bite.

It always amuses me that people like to chill out with the noise of birds asking for a f**k or a fight...
I live in a loft apartment and the velux windows in the bedroom are nice to go to sleep to when it is raining on them.

Yes, a lot of territory marking going on out there in the forest. Spoof, shredded skin, blood and rotting carcasses everywhere.
This place is actually a tributary of Sydney Harbour. It's where it all starts.
The bedroom window overlooks this area... about 3 football fields in size. I've seen wallabies congregate there... they seem disorganised.
It starts as a small bowl of earth which creates the primary area to collect rainwater. It is prehistoric there with massive ferns and other huge trees.
It has a really nice clean organic smell too! This creek then flows into Middle Harbour and out through The Heads into the South Pacific / Tasman Sea.
