The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I did indeed, chuffed to bits. First semi final in 70 odd years. We were clinical and took our goals, not something we're renound for but it was the winning of the game. I'm afraid of Tipp though...
Ryan O'Dwyer won't be though! Should start a thread on the similarities of England Rugby & Dublin Hurling.
Can't wait for the semi. G'wan Tipp.

Bore da pawb, just reading back a wee bit
- all the best with the ticker-test
HOBO – been there mucker - though it’s darker than December, what’s ahead is a different colour
REV – Calgary ? Jebus, yer can’t even navigate you ar$e around the ‘Diff
RAVA – I’ll be emailing you later with a cunning plan
MUNSTY – you’re right Calgary is out west (Alberta) only 600 miles from Vancouver, which in Canuck terms is next door . I think it was Notch that said Vancouver Island is a a great place. I’d 2nd that. Vancouver itself is pretty too, plus it’s in BC so plenty of rugby

What I find particularly galling about Kerry is their attitude towards playing in Croker, there will be about 15 of them up for this game, the rest will be “waiting until the final”.MBTGOG wrote:That's annoying. Would have liked Mayo. Ah well, we need to finally break this Kerry hoodoo, now is as good a time as there ever was. Maybe a game on neutral ground might work in our favour.
If Limerick pack the stadium out maybe they can have a 16th man effect, but having seen the dubs fall to them so many times, I’m not sure how much good it will do.
We’ve got Rosscommon or Tyrone. Happy with that.

Yeah but I'll be cheering on a Waterford upset just to see how Davy Fitz reacts.

They're a ruthless team alright Mick. I think though they feed on those Dublin show downs when they are massively outnumbered. This might feel like a bit of a non-event so that might be something we can build on.

The Dubs would be unbearable if that happened I'd have to move.
I'd love it if Waterford beat Kilkenny though - fierce rivalry between those two and Kilkenny usually come out on top.

eh, the Dubs were not exactly known for travelling in great numbers anywhere for games. The train to Tullamore was as good as it got occasionally.

Don't bother getting an SSD for the O/S. If you really want to seperate the O/S from your content, then just buy a smaller SATA drive for the O/S. Not that you really need seperate drives. just buy one big, fast one. Take a look at Debian Linux, very easy to install and a smallish foot print. Also ensure the graphics card or integrated can handle full HD (1920 x 1080) output. Try www.ebuyer.co.uk for cheap components, I think they even put some bundles together .

Sin, you know what I mean, Kerry fans usually don’t bother with the championship unless it’s the final.
Dublin football fans have packed out any stadium we’ve travelled to, granted we don’t have to travel often, but Thurles in 01 (I think) and Longford in 07 (again, just guessing) were jammed.

Also, if you want to try out different Linux distributions, download and install VMWare Player onto your laptop. You can then create virtual machines on your laptop and install multiple O/S'es and have them all running at the same time.

Well there you go, first mistake made before I put a foot down! I thought you had to have the os on a separate drive.
I was looking to have about 4TB capacity, so I could even partition off one of the drives and have the OS on there. I’ll take a look into Debian, but I might go with windows just because this is all new to me and I’ll be more comfortable using it (damn you Microsoft!).

Penfro, thanks for the email. Looks like it will be 2012, what with the WC and HC.
I will take a closer look and get back to you.
For the Ireland v Wales 6N game next year I think you would have a much better chance of getting tickets than I would. I am in the Ireland Supporters Club but tickets are scarce and limited to two per person if you do get an opportunity to buy.

I know what you mean about Kerry. I believe a lot of the stadiums are empty when the Dubs play because they usually get lost on the way.
They are better off sticking to a stadium that has a train service. Clones would be a disaster for them to try and get to, though making it to Longford was impressive!

Munsty, you're delusional if you think Limerick can beat Kerry without their best midfielder. Kerry fans will turn up for their semi against either Cork/Mayo. (Cork should win this comfortably but Mayo have some decent forwards)
Let's be honest Cork V Kerry if it happens,is the All Ireland final.

It would, but not at Tipp's expense! Dublin would be my 2nd team though and I have a bit of a soft spot for Waterford (loads of family living down there and they always come up just short even though they have some great hurlers).

As I said earlier, get VMWare Player and try out several Linux distributions with it. You could also try Ubuntu, which is more for people who are used to Windows.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Folks, sorry to be off topic but for Welsh RUGBY fans:
RUGBY UNION - South Africa captain John Smit says that the Springboks will be in top gear when they begin their World Cup defence against Wales in the autumn. An inexperienced Springboks side lost 39-20 to Australia on Saturday, but Smit said: "The one thing I promise is that we will be fully ready and prepared for that first game against Wales. We've got an opportunity to play four games in the Tri-Nations, which in itself are against the best teams in the world, so you'll pretty much know exactly where you are once the Tri-Nations is done."

I'm not surprised. It'll be worse for us if the Saffas have a bad Tri Nations.

Rava, it's no surprise that the Tri Nations is playing second fiddle to the World Cup this year. The Springboks will be a hell of a prospect irrespective of how they fare for the rest of the tournament.

Not if you're a Limerick football fan,no! They actually have a decent team,if they were in a weaker province they would have challenged for the title. They have been hampered by the Cork/Kerry dominance. Galvin is one of the best midfielders in the country and their forward is a great freetaker(can't think of his name)

Morning all,
Tea for me please if we still serve here?
The start of a shocking week is about to start for me now.. I have Band practice every day as well as a competition on Sunday.
Have a project due for Wednesday for College as well as a presentation then on Thursday.
so all go here... I did go for a swim before work this morning which has made me feel very fresh and energetic today..
Munsty, you must be getting worried about that Tennor bet we had on the hurling?
I have 8 more years to get that Tennor

I am far too old for this to be honest. that has hit me now.
I definitely need to hold off doing college qualifications for next year. Going to take a year off and I will restart that chapter next year..
I am enjoying the Tuba playing but forgot how much work it will entail especially the week of the competitons..
But I have a couple of days off next week so I am excited by that at least.
Eyes on the prize.

Thomond,
Ian Ryan it is I think you're talking about. John Galvin is a massive blow and I do agree that I think we would have won a final if we'd been in another province. Wouldn't trade it though.
Micky,
Pretty sure it was 20 and that it was neither team would win an All Ireland.

Mick, you kind of remind me of Smithy’s girlfriend from Gavin and Stacey. You never see her on screen because she’s always got some activities going.
You’ll have to take a break pal, I’d be burned out! Although I am looking for a new job and a new place to stay so that’s keeping me bloody busy!
See you at the quiz this week though yeah?
