The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
FYI, the last pub was :

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
When I coached in Germany there was a great system where each captain would nominate a man of the match from the other team after the game. He would have to choose one player and make a little speech about how the other guy played.
It was seen as a real honour and players were trying things even in defeat.

Same in football. In the Netherlands, France, Spain, the emphasis is on developing skills. Over here you still get professional footballers who are useless with their 'other' foot.

Happened in Scotland too for me. But it tended to go to who was known by the opposition often.

I can imagine yea that mates picking mates. There were few local games in Germany - we did a lot of travelling to matches so didn't know all the players at all.

Should never ever be the case. Being a professional footballer and not being able to use both feet should be a sin.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
BTW my smartphone queries I had yesterday this was the best deal I could find. I'm quite happy with it:
- Samsung S II
- Unlimited free calls to any Irish mobile
- Unlimited free calls to any Irish landline
- Unlimited text messages to any Irish mobile
- 15 GB of Internet
- 12 month contract
- €65 per month
Its only about €6 a week more than I pay and I like how little the contract is and how much I get out of it.

My previous phone was a Samsung and it was such a user-friendly phone.
Second Test starts in half an hour. Sorry, Ken Bruce, but I'll be switching over.

seems very expensive Stag.. you would be worth ringing your current network. find out roughly how many texts you send a month and how many minutes you spend calling. and the same of the internet.. because if you spend say 500 texts, 500 minutes, 1gb of internet and get free activity to any body on the same network, you could get a bill for around 45 a month.
65 is a bit expensive I would have thought

Mick - I saw those. I don't like the idea of a being tied into a contract for 2 years. €20 a month is only working out at a difference of about 60 cents a day. I haven't bought it yet of course - not that silly. I'm back researching tomorrow but right now thats the offer most tempting.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It is expensive yes. There is one package for 45 a month but internet is only 1 GB and its 2 years and you have to pay 120 for the phone itself.
Glas I chose the other one as it was rated higher and I have heard good things about Android.
I'm on Meteor. So is my girlfriend and most of my pals and my family they all have free calls to me and that.
I would be paying more but I like not having to change network, not being tied into the long term contracts and having the freedom to use the product so much.

My buddy has a Galaxy S and swears by it.
He left iphone after 4(yes 4) repairs (all software issues) and says the Galaxy S is a more complete package.
Plus he has a Samsung TV and the 2 are inter-connectable over wifi.

Good news about the GF Ona
Kado,if you're around would you ever convince Cari to go one of the days. She is over there anyway like! The second day would be the better option what with the magnificent Kerry playing followed by the equally marvellous Mayo.

I have the leaflet in my hand Mick. Its because I have an Eircom landline and a Metoer mobile phone. Its a promotion they are running together.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Is the 1GB of data just for the phone or internet? If it's for the phone can you not just get a memory card for 4GB or 5GB?

What does it say verbatim? It sounds like it could be a bundle of phone and broadband and mobile, with 15gb being the broadband download limit. I think anyone would struggle to use 15gb of mobile data a month if they were watching youtube 24 hours a day everyday. If it was acually 15gb then it's usually advertised as "unlimited".

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It is advertisied as unlimited but capped at 15GB.
It says that its 12 month contract. Umlimited minutes to all mobiles and landlines (not including foreign ones or 1890 numbers etc). unlimited text messages (not multimedia messages or to foreign numbers). it says unlimited interent (capped at 15GB). This relates to Samsung S II and is an August bank holiday promotion ending Monday 1st August. I have to have a landline connection to Eircom at my address and be a current meteor customer. If I terminate my Eircom landline connection at any stage my bill increases by €10 per month.

€65 is an awful lot of money, works out at £57, which equals nearly £700 a year. Not sure how you would or want to use 15GB of data a month on a phone. I had to use a 3G dongle for a month and only managed to use 3GB and I was using it all day, every day. If all you friends and family are on the same network then you don't need unlimited minutes.
Why do people think you're envious over Apple products ? They are always overpriced products that aren't as good as their owners claim them to be.

and making jokes about them.
In reality, I am not that bothered. It's just good fun seeing people who are jealous saying they are not jealous, have nothing to be jealous about and anyway their product is superior, so there.

Who's jealous of a Flip phone for christs sake ? I think it's sad that people think other people are jealous, when they're not. You do know Apple stole most of the technology in the iPhone ? So much for being innovative hey ? They had to pay a lump sum to Nokia for infringing its patents and a continuing royalty on every iPhone sold. Not quite sure why anyone wants to pay over the top for a phone that has an apple badge on it, when there are far superior products out there for less money, Samsung Galxy SII, HTC Desire, Sony Xperia, Nokia N8, etc, etc.
