The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
FYI, the last pub was :

I think this article is especially relevant to 606 and there are a lot of people who would do well to read it:

Yea the DUP is a political party in Northern Ireland. Basically this guy wrote on facebook that this particular politician should get a bullet in the head. He got a court appearance and a 5 month suspended sentence for doing so.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Not surprised!! Quite idiotic to do that. Onto the speedway now, I love the flag girls Gibbo would enjoy them

Course he wouldn't. Not enough leather, whips or chains for his liking.

His comments were very insensitive (typical DUP bore) but there was a valid point there, and the response was completely and utterly unacceptable. The courts are right on this one.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hi peeps. Reading back, Ireland will probably put out their 2nd XV against France and their 1st XV against England. I believe Johnson probably has 25 of his 30 pencilled in, and will chuck the 5-10 players vying for a place in the squad in against Ireland to see who can hack it.
We are likely to field our 1st XV against Wales at Twickenham and switch round for Cardiff. Wales will probably mirror that. Two reasons for that view. 1. Losing away with a 2nd team is no big deal. 2. Winning your home games generates replica shirt sales.
I won't be fretting if England lose 2 of the 3. All 3 and I would be mildly concerned.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning.
First time I've had an early night all week. Still 11pm here though. 5/6 days boozing/working is enough now. Might be delayed though. As much as I love Canada, if I don't sleep properly soon, I'll burn out. Had an amazing meal tonight though. Chicken strips and chips as an appetiser (so it should have been small) and Salmon with rice for main (nothing short of sensational.
Anybody get close to the NZ score? I think I went by 16-18 points or something.
Anyway, good night.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I know I'm not in rugby mode, but I have a confession to make. I don't care about the warm up matches or in fact the World Cup itself. There was a time I started to look forward to it all, but the other parts of my life have preoccupied me since. I couldn't even bebothered to read the Irish chat in here last night, I really don't care. Time will tell if once the cup itself starts (I still can't see me taking much interest in the warm ups) something clicks. Whether the consistency of conversations on the topic and Wales winning (or even playing like Wales) will wake me up. I noticed on my posts that I have only posted in here and the random factor, I havn't even read any proper articles and my posts have been largely about non rugby matters. Do any other Welsh fans feel the same way?
P.S. Have you seen those terrible posters: "we play with pride. For you. Our fans."

Interesting confession glas... it must be a huge weight off your mind. (Not really.)
Time will tell - if Wales do well, it might rekindle some interest.
I don't buy into all the hype either. I've seen many a sporting bubble burst in my time too... only to be re-inflated soon after.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all
Just making myself a brew in Tallafornia. I've had a great weekend so far. Went to the Guinness Storehouse yesterday with Mickado. The place is blydi huge. Took us a couple of hours to go around it all then we enjoyed a drink in the Gravity Bar. I even tried a mouthful of Guinness myself which wasn't as yuck as I feared. Just been in a couple of nice pubs and back here then really. Oh and I had a go on the Luas. Watching the Tri Nations and yesterdays GAA was a novelty for me as well.
Hope everyone is well. I've read back a bit on my Blackberry. Gibbo

Time will tell Glas. I was in off season mode and not bothered about rugby at all since mid May. All the chat about rugby on here especially from the Irish lads and how in depth they go completely overwhelmed me! Talk about comitted. Fair play Getting a tad excited now with the warm ups and new kits coming out. I'm sure you'll raise an interested eye when the first try is bundled over!

Very happy with England's draw, but the one that really annoys me is Greece. They won Euro 2004 (and were hideously boring in doing so) and therefore got a good seeding, and EVERY draw since they seem to get a load of "nothing" teams in their group and maintain their seeding. It's so frustrating!
Ukraine, Turkey, Denmark, Albania, Georgia and Kazakhstan in 2006 Qualifying (finished 4th)
Turkey, Norway, Bosnia, Moldova, Hungary and Malta in 2008 Qualifying (finished 1st)
Switzerland, Latvia, Israel, Luxembourg and Moldova in 2010 Qualifying (finished 2nd, won play-off against Ukraine)
Croatia, Israel, Georgia, Latvia and Malta in 2012 Qualifying (currently 1st)
and now they've been drawn Slovakia, Bosnia, Lithuania, Latvia and Liechtenstein.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Agree Robbo. Feckin Greeks. Dey invented seeding...
Bad news for Darcy... Good news for McFadden. He's near nailed-on to play - if this is true.
Also looks like Murphy and De Fla are doing their bit and coming along. Positive vibes man.
Deccie has already laid his cards on the table. He says NO one will play 4 games and very few, if any - will play 3.
Good man Deccie. 30 match-fit players raring and ready to go.

Ireland could well get out of that group,2nd is acheivable with Trap without him I think we could certainly do it. 6points against Kazakstan and the Faroes(Brian Kerr manages them) 4 against Austria and Sweden and maybe 1 against Germany doesn't sound impossible.

I know they're doing nothing wrong, but they're so boring to watch and not even that good, so it's annoying to see them get an easy ride every time!
Seedings should be based on my subjective and biased opinion.

Morning all, having a small fry-up sandwich and then decided to destroy myself this afternoon with a 12mile run so if i'm not online later you know i can't run as well as i used to!!
Oh and anyone any good with google maps' directions thingy. The run I want to do says it's 6 miles walking to get there but driving is 9.2 miles and it's the same route?!

Try the 'Ruler' on google earth, then select 'path'. Then just pick the points manually... you can zoom in if you want. That's pretty accurate I find.
If it's also 6 miles...then as Gibbo says...

Poor crowd at this. This double header should really have been in Thurles. People say the Kerry supporters don't travel well outside of finals but to be fair, no on else has a longer journey than they do to get to Dublin.
