The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Thom - na, I'll keep it to myself
Just been going through the world cup fixtures trying to work out when I need leave. I'll miss a few of the pool matches unfortunately because they're on during the week and I just wouldn't get that much time off, but hopefully I'll see the bulk of them. I notice a couple of Saturdays where I'll be up all night as well

I'm sure you can find a telly with it on in a bar when you're away Lucky.
OH WAIT! We can't discuss rugby in here anymore didn't you know? There's a dictatorship going on apparently...

Hound , spent my weekend days out in the garden (raking in the meadow grass) and garage (new workbench constructed), but treated myself in the evenings to the Blackdown Beer Festival - fantastic, good bands, excellent selection of & - Yellowhammer and Branoc are still personal favourites - don't think we'll ever get Hoogues away from the Butcombe tho, he seems addicted

Just had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon for breakfast, is that pubby enough ?
Went to see my Dad on Friday, he was in an infection isolation room, but came out of that yesterday. First time I've worn latex gloves and a pinny. He had skin from down the right side of his chest grafted over his left shin after they'd grafted some bone taken from his pelvis into his tibia. He's hoping to be out this week. And then back in sometime in September to work on his hip.

There are worse places to rage than the south of France, Rodders! In any case, surely they'll be showing the return match on French TV?

Yeah there are, can't complain I suppose. I'll be away from the beaten track so I'm not sure if I'll get a bar to show it. Fingers crossed I will though because I really don't want to miss it .

Yeah but the Guinness isn't the best there I heard .
There's only a couple of cafe bar places and a few Hotels in the village I'll be in but hopefully somewhere will show it if I ask.

Rodders, if you can't watch the match, get a brush, pretend it's a microphone and imagine you're commentating on it. Everyone's a winner. Er, except you, of course.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I was in an Irish bar in Katmandhu once. It was a strange experience. I remember we tried to blag free drinks because we were Irish. It was called Paddy O'Shea's (or something like that) and we kept winding the Nepalise bar man up by asking him where Paddy was and he kept saying "aw he's in the back" .....
It's not that funny a story I suppose but we were only 18/19 so it seemed hilarious at the time....

Personally, I'm not particularly keen on Irish "theme" pubs" :humbug: When we were driven from KL airport to our hotel, the coach guide pointed out where the Irish pub was for some reason.

Big crowds, lots of smoke, free-flowing beer and loud music set the scene for Ulaanbaatar's most popular night spot.

I'm not either, Nottins. If a pub has developed an 'Irishness' through patronage or through its history, that's great. But otherwise it might as well be a Wetherspoons.

Lucky - the worst "Irish" pub I visited was the Celtic Pride in Pontypridd. No Guinness, no Bulmers/Magners, no Murphy's ...in fact there was no Irish drinks served at all. The only Irish thing about it was the Shamrock on the door really.
Elvis Costello's done some great songs though.

Funnily enough I like them, you jsut take them with a pinch of salt. I tend to avoid the 'Irish' bars where I'm from because theres a fair chance of getting shot in them....
