The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Watching some ITM Cup. Counties Manukau are beating North Harbour 32-27. These are two of the weaker sides in New Zealand yet this game is still drenched with talent. No wonder New Zealand is the strongest rugby nation in the world.

I can't understand how Iestyn Thomas hasn't been called up to the Wales squad yet. Jenks isn't going to be fit for even Wales' first group match, he's had no game time this year...why take him? Baffling.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all, make mine an Asbo special too &
Lost by 3 goals at netball last night (we were 10 down at half-time), and to add insult to injury 3 players on the other team play for my old Thursday team (I've managed to get the old team together to play Thursdays next season at least).
Reading back, LDCP, the NZ Super Rugby franchises were originally set up as regional groupings of NPC provinces. However there was always a provision for a player not wanted by his "home" franchise to be drafted by another one. Later the rules were changed so a player had the choice to stay with his adopted franchise the following season, even if he'd done well enough for the original one to come calling.
More recently, player selection has been disconnected from home province, and the Super XV franchises contract players directly (though they're only allowed to have 28 players contracted at a time). Players not contracted by any Super team can then be contracted to "wider training squads" as injury cover.
The franchises still pay dividends to their constituent provincial unions, proportional to the number of registered players in each province (so for example if the Crusaders had actually made a profit this year Canterbury would have received the lion's share of the payout, with Tasman, South Canterbury and Mid-Canterbury getting smaller dividends and Buller and West Coast getting less again).

Stag I am, think about it right, the French side were playing at home this weekend would not be what you'd call the first team (however full of quality it may be) and from what I read this morning on the papers is that we are going to be naming a full first 15 (which will include 1F on the bench). No if we don't beat them I'm going to get very worried

If he does that it would be a simple case of a worse player being selected over a better one.

Wil you give off Asbo. Barclay, Parks, Morrison, Danielli, Hines, Kellock, Evans - yup 4th choice alright.
Scotland to win by AT LEAST 5 Ireland to beat France too.

That’s class Thomond.
Now give him the big brother talk and the leaving cert night survival pack (5 ciggies, a tenner and a condom – it can get you out of any situation!) and send him on his way with a bag of cans!
I remember getting my results. 260. Pretty shoddy by all accounts, but I only needed 25 to do Engineering, so in a way it was incredible.

Congrats to him from me too Thom
Wiremu, a New Zealander, was on the dole in Australia but about to fly home to watch the Rugby World Cup and was not feeling well,
So he decided to see a doctor.
"Hey doc, I dun't feel so good, ey" said Wiremu.
The doctor gave him a thorough examination and informed Wiremu that he had long existing and advanced prostate problems and that the only cure was testicular removal.
"No way doc" replied Wiremu "I'm gitting a sicond opinion ey!"
The second Aussie doctor gave Wiremu the same diagnosis and also advised him that testicular removal was the only cure. Not
surprisingly, Wiremu refused the treatment.
Wiremu was devastated, but with the Rugby World Cup just around the corner he found an expat Kiwi doctor and decided to get one
last opinion from someone he could trust.
The Kiwi doctor examined him and said: "Wiremu Cuzzy Bro, you huv Prostate suckness ey."
"What's the cure thin doc ?" asked Wiremu hoping for a different answer.
"Wull, Wiremu", said the Kiwi doctor "Wi're gonna huv to cut off your balls."
"Phew, thunk god for thut!" said Wiremu, "those Aussie bar stewards wanted to take my test tuckets off me!"

Ha Kiwi, that’s classic! And as soon as I can do a kiwi accent justice, I’m telling that joke!
MBTGOG – yep, it was on the CAO as “aqa” (all qualified applicants) which meant you just needed to pass your LC (5 d’s in pass subjects = 25 points).
AQA just means that there were enough places for everyone who applied though, it didn’t mean it was easy, 100 people out of 140 didn’t come back for second year.

Morning all.
Bikkies, not wanting to "dis" your course but surely there is a problem somewhere if 70% drop out after a year no?

Dropout rate is high though in some instances. We had almost a 50% drop out rate in my course by graduation.

Bore Da pawb - please
Really enjoyed myself at Dave Parade. Good to spend some time chatting with Lucky as really didn't get much chance at the BIG meet for the HEC Final. Was nice to see the 'Big Lump' too. I'd forgotten how diffucult it is, sometimes, to see all the action from a terrace (as opposed to pitch side at a parks ground that the Sarries play on), good atmosphere though
