The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Lionel Nallet photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I've been reading the comments on this article:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14659127
and it's been good fun. The only Apple product I own is an iPod Nano and it's great, but for every comment saying that Apple 'invented' the mp3 player, smartphone and tablet, there's another claiming that all they did was to repackage products that already existed and market them better than anyone else. It's interesting stuff.

Thomond it might be cheaper to get an Oyster card for travelling on the underground? This site might help you, it's got route info as well.

Yes, but you can use the Oyster card whenever you visit London in the future.

True. If you don't plan on re-suing the card then for a 3-day visit you're better off buying day travelcards. That'll cost you £1.50 more (50 pence per day) than using Oyster would, but you pay £5 "deposit" for an Oystercard.

I'm more than likely flying into Gatwick and I was looking at options for hotles in Harrow so thanks for the help. Seems I can get a tube from Harrow into London, what time would tube services stop?

Tubes stop generally between midnight and 1am. There's some horribly complicated timetables here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/1129.aspx

From my understanding,I'm going from Wembley so I would need to get on the Metropolitan line if I'm going to Harrow?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That sort of depends.
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf
North Harrow, West Harrow, Harrow on the Hill and Wembley Park are all on the Metropolitan, Wembley Park is also on the Jubilee (but that's a slower line than the Metropolitan in North London).
Harrow & Wealdstone, North Wembley and Wembley Central are all on the Bakerloo line and London Overground. And South Harrow is on the Picadilly line (but that's an awfully slow way into town).

Thomond I'm the go to man for all your travel needs in London, ask me any question and I shall answer.
As for oysters, flock them they are a heap of Poopie, when you get to Gatwick buy a ticket from there with a 1-6 travel card on it as well, it'll will cover you for travel up until 04:30 the following morning and the next day get a paper travel card as well and you'll be fine

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Afternoon all,
Just finished playing squash. Planning to play pretty regularly. Need to boost up my fitness big time.
Going for a drink with a friend that is up for his resits then going to help out at cage football later on. It's a youth event, so will be there just to talk and referee games. The police are helping organise it, so they're giving us lifts.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Rules for 2 on 2 cage football
Cage football is a game designed for Skill not aggression. Anyone can play.
1. Each game last 3minutes. In a result of a draw there will be 30 seconds for sudden death. If there is still no winner both teams will step out of the cage.
2. The winning team stays on for a pre determioned amount of wins. E.g. 5 wins etc.
3. A goal will only count if it is scored in the opponents half and hits the back of the goal. Putting it across the line is not enough.
4. There are 2 ways to win:
a) Score more goals than the other team
b) Nutmeg an opposing player and collect it on the other side without it hitting the side of the cage or another player. This results in an automatic win!
5. If the football is kicked out of the cage then that team automatically loses
6. The referees decision is final
7. Aggressive and/or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in you being banned from using the cage.

Sounds like a good idea we used to do something similar in training with more players. The idea being if you have 4 on 4,you have to work harder to find space and therefore use the old noodle.

Afternoon all
Been a mad busy few weeks for me here, am hoping work slows down a bit before the World Cup starts.
Cageball sounds great Munsty, I love skils based games like that, think the nutmeg wins you the game thing is superb. Used to do games like that when I coached kids football, fantastic way of developing players.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just been for a haircut to sharpen up for tonight and I've got to say I've never been so groomed before a game. Bloke trimmed my eyebrows and everything
Should be a good game tonight. Bit warm out for my liking though. At least I'm over the 5 day bender now.
Two good sides for Ireland and England.
