First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Lionel Nallet photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I don't know. We've not chipped into the HD services. Looks like SS 1 &2.

I don't rave about HD as much as my kids but that may be that once your eyesight begins to go, that may make a difference.

Doesn't affect my enjoyment though.

Freakin kids don't know how lucky they are. You used to have two channels (max) delivered in grey and greyer in 405 lines. I was nearly 20 when I first saw colour tv.

What's 3D TV like?

This is an example of my first viewing experiences (although (probably) a cleaned up version) :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuPVcxzVD5A

We never had to get up to change the channel knob as there wasn't one.

You did have to wait a couple of minutes to let the telly warm up. And it used to be televised from about noon to about 2pm and then from five til 6 and then it'd shut down again so that the kiddies could be put to bed.

I can't recall anything after that but I guess that it closed down about 10.30.

Even as a post-grad teaching student I remember sitting up all night smoking joints in 1975 and drinking and watching the best telly available - Teletext.

Actually I'm thinking of switching to Fox TV and reading the Daily Mail.

I's so much easier to bump along with the masses.

The way to change is to follow like a sheep so I've been advised.

I'm getting very excited about the O2 for Ire v Aus.

Off to Ulster vs Quins now. Expecting a very tough game against a full strength side bar a few positions- we have quite a second string tight five out and they are very strong there. Hopefully we can play some good rugby and maybe get a wee win to start the season rolling! See yis later Wink

Scrappy T14 game with ST dominating the first 20 but now 9-0 down. Their kicker (Doussain I think) has missed two pots at goal.

Plus the ST right wing, Matanavou, while rapid, looks like he had his hair cut by Stevie Wonder Wink

It won't be live on the BBC Willy because it's on Sky Sports 3 - England Internationals (except the Six Nations and World Cup) belong to Sky. The highlights might be on the BBC later on.

You sure Carrie? I could have sworn I saw a tweet from Andrew Cotter saying he was commentating on it?

Good stuff Notch. Glad IH was playing and then rested. High hopes for the Glasgow match now.

Good luck on the back of that win Ulster fans, especially if it was a better hit out than your average ML/Rabid games.

Only kidding.

Quins probably remembered the last HC game there when a stand was closed because of the high winds Wink.

Ulster should be able to steal a bit of a lead in the Rabid league while the RWC is on I reckon.
