Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the David Wallace photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Good that a Shamrock Rovers guy has been signed for Villa eh lads (well more the bandwaggoners )
I wondered when the Welsh squad were leaving for NZ. I bet it all makes it seem real for a lot of them. I'd be buzzing.

I think this is going to be a brilliant Rugby World Cup that I am hoping can revive the romance in my stale relationship with international rugby.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I have had bleached hair/frosted tips a few times during the summer. Looked a bit ridiculous but sure who cares. Good Saturday evening for me anyway,Cork City on at 5 in the Cross and 5 minutes down the road you have Munster at 7.45. Good day out! Rev, Stevens is good was exceptional in Europe, solid in the league, don't know if he is the best left full in the LOI but up there.

I've defended the Six Nations against the World Cup, but I can't wait for the tournament to get started. Should be brilliant!

Really looking forward to the World Cup. Especially looking forward to seeing some of the "minnow" nations playing.

To answer my own question I can't wait to see Pool A - Canada, Tonga, Japan all fighting it out in very even games. Same with Pool D.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah, I'm just disappointed all the minnows are on so, so early!
Really looking forward to the first weekend;
France vs Japan
Argentina vs England
Ireland vs USA
South Africa vs Wales
Sweet!
I wish I could get up in time to see the minnows play, but its just so exhausting. If only I had Sky+ or something. There's probably some way I can record them. Is there an ITV player, like BBC and Channel 4 have?

The BBC has a strange way of wording some of its headlines.
'Joe Cole seals Lille loan switch.' Yeah, like that's his dream move!

I've booked the 17th off work; reckon I'll be up for Argentina vs Romania and just keep on through to the end of the Ireland game. Then back to bed.
There's definitely a lot of games I'd really want to see that I'll miss being in bed. But Tonga vs Japan at 8.30am on the 21st is a game I'm looking forward to a lot.

Afternoon all
Was just planning my annual trip back to the ould sod (which i haven't taken for two years due to particular circumstances last year); really looking forward to breathing some good fresh air.
All cancelled now, have to go to Falun. It's somewhere in Sweden, but haven't got a clue yet how to get there ...

I prepared my boss that I will be late for work for the next month because I am not going to miss any RWC matches, I explained to him that I'll be available for work only in the afternoons. He thought long and hard about it.
And then I said OK

I loved having my haircut. New hairdresser too. Done a tidy job. I've also just realised that I've never had my haircut by a man.
Penfro - you should know by now, the Welsh summer is two boiling hot days in April/May followed by a lot of rain for the next few months. I don't like hot weather so it doesn't bother me.

Just watching Toulon v Biarritz here at work. Anyone else see the try Toulon got where they kicked at goal and the winger caught it. Fair play.

I very rarely have my hair cut by a man. It's better, I don't know why. Less awkward for some reason. Nearest place to me to get my hair cut, and where I go, is very good but is a barbershop staffed exclusively by blonde Eastern European women.
I've actually forgotten why I'm complaining about this even as I type it.

I fail to see problem Notch. A good cut and a whole place of blonde Eastern Europeans
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I don't really mind who cuts my hair as long as they're good at their job and listen to what I ask for. Only once I can honestly say I've been to a crap hairdresser, and I just didn't go there again.

Lucky you, Cari. I seem to have discovered every rubbish hairdresser in Bristol.
Definition of a good haircut - ojne that looks really good when you leave the salon; one that still looks really good when you wash it yourself; one that STILL looks really good when you are on your way BACK to the hairdresser 6 weeks later for your next cut.
Best face I ever saw on a hairdresser:
I was trying out a new hairdresser in Birmingham; explained to him that I couldn't be bothered spending hours blow-drying my hair, so the cut had to cope with my method of hairdrying.
"And how do you dry your hair, Madam?"
"I take the roof off the car and drive from home in Cheltenham to work in Birmingham. It takes me an hour and a good cut will look really good wehn I arrive"
His face was a picture , something between and

I've had loads of bad haircuts. It's not as though I'm asking much - just leave it short and manageable - but so many times I've got home and there are bits longer on one side than the other. The feckers.
I used to cut my own hair. It did not look good.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I hate going to the hairdressers, very rarely do I ever get what I ask for. I've tried loads of different ones in Cardiff, and when I was at Uni in Aberystwyth, but still the best place I've ever had my hair cut was back home in Llandeilo - that's a complete pain to get to though if I want it cut, so I make do with the Cardiff ones.
Just been reading back: I hate spiders and wasps too.
And with regards to the world cup, am really looking forward to seeing Russia and Japan play.

'England' v India 20-20 game just started.
Much more up the Indians' street. Half the crowd are subcontinentals and I'd give England about a 5% chance of winning.
Not my cup of tea though I'm afraid. Not even affected in any way about the Foxes winning the 20-20 tournament last weekend. Just doesn't appeal...

I like 20/20. Nice to see players actually going for it and taking risks.
Isn't it funny how panicky people get on 'Transfer deadline day' even though not all that much is happening. I actually think that it should end before the season starts.

The way people will follow the speculation is a bit nuts. I can see how some managers wouldn't care for it though.

To me, its the only cricket worth watching. Better than a 4-day bore-fest, broken up by, rain, tea and biscuits. It has opened up cricket to millions more non-cricket fans. Like 7's does for rugby. Some move on to the full game. Some dont. My cricket-club mates think Im a phillistine. So be it.

If I was a manager, I'd want my squad finalised way before the season started so I could get them all working together. I'd only bring someone in if they were very special.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I dunno. The top sports have developed over 100-200 years or so and then get dumbed down at the behest of telly.
Most short-form variations of any game leave me a bit frustrated.
7's rugby, twenty20, 6-a-side footy, quick format snooker etc. are all good for entry level interest but not for the seriously interested.
Are there any short-form versions of GAA sports?

Evening all
I know I'm late to the debate, but for what it's worth I would take test cricket over any other form of the game.
Anyway, just back from the dentist, teeth hopefully all fixed now, fingers crossed, although I have one at the back which may not take the filling as the cavity was huge and down to the nerve. If it doesn't settle down properly it will be root canal surgery for me!
In happier news, the season is almost here and I cannot wait. Just working out what Exiles games I can make it to this season!

It's just a marketing/TV invention that ruins it for the hardcore fans. I'm going to pick the side of the hardcore fans. Just don't try and make me watch that shoite either way

I love watching a good test match. 5 days of chess, where momentum swings back and forth until one team really seizes their chance.
Can't stand Sky Sports commentary though and turn the sound on the TV off and listen to TMS on the wireless instead.
Anyone know who the commentary team for the World Cup on ITV are?

I did see a list at some point, but can't remember who they are. I don't think there's much of a Welsh contribution (that I recognised) anyway. One think I do know is that they're bringing Steve Ryder back to do some of the presenting, and I can't stand him! Hopefully they'll have a change of heart and just not use him.
