First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of pub regulars. We've got the big group pic from the HEC final in Cardiff, plus insets of ll those who couldn't make it

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine Bubbly Wales

ah I think it's just that I know we should have won yesterday. It's just the whole "what if" feeling. We may never get this good an opportunity again. And I dunno, I just didn't feel like rugby won yesterday, if that makes any sense.

They have all made me very proud, Charteris and Priestland especially. Two local boys from Llandeilo, couldn't be prouder.

I used to be the same Rava, I had a Nokia Brick for years. No t'interweb, no games, no picture messages, was great for calling people on and no dnager fo anybody ever wanting to nick it.

Then I got my HTC, and my world changed. I cannot be without it. The wife puts all of our schedules into google calender and I have it there in the palm of my hand. It even means I can't forget it's my wedding anniversary next week!

Rugby is about taking your chances, when it boils right down to it- at least semi-final rugby is. Keeping your head under pressure and being clinical. I think it was Morgan Parra who won that game, good kicker. That, and the French defence which was excellent at times- especially in the last 10 minutes.

But I know how you feel, I've been left with that feeling watching Ireland many times. Never more so when we lost to the French in 2007. We had that game and it wqas cruelly snatched away, and with it our best ever chance of a Slam. I think I was moping for days and days. When you're still feeling it that long though, you're just taking it too personally. There are other things in life to get miserable about, why let something you care about like rugby get you down?

I'm happy right now. At half time I will probably be disappointed. That's why I like Nfl.

France were awful in attack but their defence was resolute yesterday. Parra at 9 Trinh Duc at 10 is a must.

France were very good for the most part defensively yesterday I will give them that. And Parra kicked well, especially the last penalty, that was a superb kick.

Martin Luther King made his "I have a dream" speech almost 50 years ago. Barack Obama dedicated a monument to Dr King in Washington today.
Apparently blacks in the USA are twenty (20) times worse off than their White counterparts.
Is king's dream still to be realised?

Rava the US governement can take some blame for that. They tried to provide African Americans with social housing which has failed everywhere. This led to the growth of slums where with little to no other facilities available there crime starteed. Also you must consider that after segregation many African Americans were stuck in low paying jobs and couldn't pay for their sons and daughters College education this cycle repeats itself.

Night all...

Gibbo, I really wish you hadn't made that comment... what we find interesting others don't, and what we find boring others don't.... we're all entitled to enjoy what we like and shouldn't be judged for it.

But, it IS... the most boring car race - in the World.

Definitely going down as a huge missed opportunity, we completely outplayed France even a man short and we had so many chances to win it. Harsh lesson, same as against SA really, just so want us to learn from this now.

I hadn't realised yesterday that we played the last 25mins without Lydiate!

Faletau by far our best player, just amazing. I love how he conducts himself on the pitch as well. So laid back and professional, just gets on with it, and doesn't stop for the full 80mins. He's fab.

+1

The vultures will be circling more now. Ospreys have already been trying to tap him up last season. I know I'm biased, but the Dragons guys can all hold their heads up from Sat. I was disappointed to see Lydiate only get a 6 in some papers. Considering our backrow was always one short for the majority of the game, they both did well. But yeah, Toby for 1 cap pre WC and then all the rest during has been unreal. I'm not singling them out, but I am made up how the big 3 Dragons have gone.

Rev,
The Dragons boys (as well as the Scarlets, Blues and Os' boys...) took on the best in the World. And they should have had em. Should be in... and full-on contesting - the Rugby World Cup Final.

Just need to bring that belief home with them. And not let it die, in the moment

And get some more of those sedate, Welsh arm-chair phhkokers, to get up off their fat, moaning - arses, Watch and support their teams live. Week-in. Week-out. Like you do. Feed the coffers. Feed the Dream.

Welsh PRO12 gates - are a running joke.

Help the regions(the inner-problem?) and the Principality, to grow back to what they were 20 years ago. That would be a great legacy from RWC 2011.

Spread the word.

Won't discuss this too much, but I 100% agree with this. I know people don't though. so can't be bothered debating it. I suffer with internet now more than anything, but I will say that Welsh people need to get behind their regions more (even if they aren't local). Buying replica kit means chuff all, as it's a one off thing generally. Being there and shouting for your team is where the difference is. Because they hear it if nothing else. I don't mind North Walians not attending, but otherwise everybody's region is pretty accessible.

Anyway, nos da.

Anyway, on another note I am playing a memorial game for my mate on Wednesday. Risca v Gwent Police. Hope it's a great day.

Other than that, I am such a good place right now. Work could be better, but things are so good otherwise. Had a lovely day today out with friends. One of my mates was a decent boxer who in his last fight had his jaw smashed up in the first round, but still went and won the fight. Such a real top man. I am also still on such a high from the Welsh WC campaign and I am having such a lovely time with my lovely wife.

Can't wait to meet Hughie and maybe Ciaran at Wembley in November and I can't wait to celebrate my 30th in two weeks. I am also happy that it is my 3 year anniversary with my wife this week. She is so brilliant and I am so lucky to have her. That's all very gushing and soppy, but it's about time I offered something positive in here Wink

Night night all.

Bore da pawb / good morning all.

I'm proud of my national team. Very proud indeed.

I'm not going to play the blame game. Where do you start? Where do you stop? Do you drop the players who conceded the three penalties France kicked which ultimately won them the game?

I dread to think what the Western Mail's going to be like this morning. I'm pretty sure that Alain Rolland will be on the front cover.

Morning coffee

Lucky - Rolland's not on the front of the WM today, but he was all over the Wales on Sunday yesterday.

Had a great time at the stadium but my weekend was ruined by my anti-social neighbours. Ironically they're supposed to be a professional couple, and yet they're worse than the students I never hear from on the other side of the house. Makes me angry, tired and stressed.

Also realised today I won't see the match on Friday cause I'm at another interview. Rolling Eyes

Ah all joking aside had a lovely day on the heath with them and back for some dinner, his children are a delight and an absolute credit to him and C (even if she is an aul lunt) ;-)

Hughie - sounds like you had a top weekend. OK

Lucky - yeah, am sorting that out with the council. To be fair to them they've been very good handling my complaint so far. They're supposed to be calling around to have a word with them some time this week. Honestly, it's got to the point now where I'm dreading the weekend. I hate being tired and miserable - and ironically it wasn't the rugby that's left me that way!

bore da pawb/good morning all, hope everyone's well.

I'm feeling a bit better after having a good nights kip.

Just reading back a bit about the attendances at Welsh regions. If they want more people to attend, then they're going to have to change kick off times for a lot of the games, or seriously invest in improving public transport. For those who don't drive, it can be a real mission not so much to get to the games, but certainly to try and get home after one! Definitely agree that more fans should make the effort though.

Have had some bad news this morning that has knocked me for six a little. I think the next 7 hours at work are going to be a struggle. Need to get home and get a hug from my girlies.

Hope everyone is ok.

That doesn't sound good Pete Hug hope it's nothing too serious and that you're okay.

Morning all, Jez Pete I hope it’s nothing too bad mate. <tea>

Watched both games this weekend. Felt very sorry for Wales, I won’t get into all the details as I’m sure everyone wants to put it behind them but they were very unlucky to have lost that, and if it’s any consolation France will be destroyed in the final, I’m sure it’s not.

I applied for a new job last week and I’ve gotten a call back about it already, it’s really good but with the talk about emigrating next year I don’t know if it would be good for my career to have 5 years in one job and 9 months in another, maybe I should just stick it out here…? what do ye think?

Pete, hope your day goes as smoothly as it can. Hug

Prop, what does being on call entail? Do you just sit around watching daytime TV until your phone rings?

Mickado, it depends how much better the new job is paywise and the like. I've been looking for a new job but I'm going to wait until the new year now - the only reason is that we get two weeks off for Christmas here and I quite like that!

Mick - hmmm tricky one. Is it a very different job to the one your doing now? A job in a different environment with different responsibilites can be a good thing I reckon, good for your career development so shouldn't matter that you might only be in it for 9 months.

Luck, it would be roughly a 10k increase in pay, which is not to be shniffed at. It’s a new role too, which makes me even more interested, I’d have to figure it out myself like. I’d also get to travel for quite a bit which would be good. The only downside (apart from the emigration thing) is that it’s pretty far away, but for the increase in pay I’d buy a car no problem. The main problem is that my girlfriend now thinks I don’t want to go away and she’s a bit put out by it all.

Pete Hug

Prop - good luck with the first day on call....hopefully you'll be busy, but in a good way.

Mickado - you have nothing to lose in taking the opportunity and trying that job. Who knows what could happen in nine months time? You could still emigrate, but later than planned or things may change where you decide neither of you want to. I'd say give it a go. Smile
