The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of pub regulars. We've got the big group pic from the HEC final in Cardiff, plus insets of ll those who couldn't make it
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Morning all.
Mick, the 5 years in the 1st job will look good enough that the short stint in the 2nd won't matter given that the job's been left to emigrate - that's seen as a lifestlye change rather than a mere job change.

Mick, if I were you I wouldn't hesitate in going for it. Just reiterate to your girlfriend that you still intend to go away and there shouldn't be problem. 10k pay increase? You'd have to go for that.

Mick, your one of the lucky one with a good job and now the opportunity of an even better on.
In my eyes you would be mental to emigrate.

That's true. I'm sure there are many Irish youngsters who would've stayed there if they could.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That’s the thing Hughie, emigration is not just to get a job. It’s to have a new experience. The thinking is that if we just let things go the way they are we’ll be too old to have new experiences, get out and do them now. I think I’ll still go for it though.
I’d get a discount on computer games and I’d be able to keep you all abreast of when the new rugby games come out, I fell that it’s my duty to all of you to do it

On emigration its something my girlfirend and me have been talking about recently - not just for work or with money in mind but to see new places when we're young.
Mick - I think the new job is definitly right call.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I’m going to get back to the recruiter and tell her that I’m interested in taking the role, interview next. Nervous, she wrote!

You'll be grand Mick. It sounds like a job right up your alley.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Mickado - If you need any tips, let me know - but I'm sure you'll be grand anyway. Best of luck with it
On the emigration thingy - there was someone who used to work here with me, when she retired, she got a boat and sailed all over the world. Great if you can afford it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Remember George? That fella lived my dream god rest him. If money was no object I’d go to any music or sporting event around the world that tickled my fancy and spend my down time on a boat in the Aegean sea, heaven.
I broke my phone a couple of weeks ago and it’s been in getting repaired. I’ve been using a HTC Mozart since, it’s got windows mobile as the OS, my advice to everyone is do not buy a phone with this OS on it, it’s the worst smartphone I’ve ever seen, from the lock screen that opens 1 out of 5 times to the web access that shuts down when it’s slow, to the battery that gives you 2 hours of listening to FM radio before it crashes. Muck.

Mickado, are you on about Windows Phone 7? I have that on my HTC and I think it's great. Mine's not a Mozart, though.

Jebus Mickado, that second paragraph made little sense to me, other than a particular phone is shoite!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Maybe I’m just too used to my iphone Luck, but stuff like accidentally hitting the home button and shutting down apps happens all too often. As I said the lock screen only unlocks one every 5 or 6 times I try to do it, which means I miss calls all the time. also, if I am reading 606 and someone posts a link, the browser takes me to a new webpage then if I close the app and come back to it the new webpage is still there (nothing wrong with that) but if I press “back” then the app quits and I’m back on the home page, to actually go back in the browser I have to open up the options and find the history.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I've given up bothering with 606v2 until I can post using the mobile version. Other than that I genuinely haven't had any problems with my phone. Actually, that's not entirely true - the battery life isn't great if you're browing the internet for hours at a time, but that doesn't happen very often so it's not really a problem for me.
I had a HTC with Windows Phone 6 (or 6.5) a few years ago. It was the worst phone and OS I've ever had.

I heard that’s pretty poor too. it’s got it’s selling points though, it properly integrates with outlook, MS office and MS 365 so it’s a good work phone.

Right, I just mailed the woman from the recruiter back and told her I’m interested in the role.
I haven’t been out of my comfort zone like this in 5 years, I’m pretty nervous but it’s exciting too.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city and the weather was great which was a spot of luck. If someone offered me a 10k wage increase I can think of worse places to live!
I watched the Wales v France match in a place called Ryan's bar - I was the only Welshman and there was a table of Frenchmen in the corner. Yes, I threw my drink at them at the final whistle, but it was all in good humour

Lucky. I spotted four French flags amongst the crowd on the pitch at the MS. Had to have some representation for them there...
Positive vibes to you too Hughie. Hope the interview goes well. Must be the time of year for it, I have another interview myself on Friday morning - so I'll miss the match, but maybe I won't know the score before I catch it later on.

It's basically a whole speech saying things like I can't stop thinking about those missed kicks, I can't stop thinking about that red card, I can't stop watching the replays, I can't stop thinking how great this weekend could have been etc etc, until it ends with I can't stop thinking about how great this side is and that they've made us all so proud.
Something allong those lines anyway!

That's good, Dreamer. I was worried that the whole paper would be a big Alain Rolland witch-hunt.
That's the major positive to come out of this World Cup for me: how these young players have shown the world that we can play rugby. Most of these players have their best years ahead of them, too.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
There was a story on the front of the metro this morning about Rolland getting death threats.
Emotions run high, and none moreso than with our own regs (who, to be clear wouldn’t threaten anyone) but that’s just ridiculous.
