The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
thanks Cari.
it's fine. she is on a temporary contract with them anyway and hadn't really got any expectations of getting a full time contract with them. has worked on and off throughout summers while in college and then started there for the last year now or so..
they aren't doing anything until March 2012 so that gives her a bit of time to try sort something..

There’s a woman in work who’s sister has worked with them for the last 18 years. She’s gutted about the whole thing.
It says something about the state of the country when a company thinks it’s cheaper to work in London than Dublin!

Micky - ah that's good that she has some time to sort out her situation. It sucks all these jobs going. Looks like I'm going to be last woman standing soon. Most of my colleagues are leaving next week

Morning all, 'tis proving a busy week!
I've gotten tickets to go to the Spurs Europa League match tonight (as my Canadian work colleague wants to see a football match before he flies back to Montreal tomorrow night), and now a workmate has bailed out mutter mutter and I'm left with a spare.

Kiwi - Hughie would go if he can get there. He seems to enjoy football when he's been to matches before.

All jokes aside Munsty, I don't think there is anything "normal" for Ireland. Previously we were a country that heavily based on agriculture and we were poor as church mice. We had a few good years and find ourselves poor again for completely different reasons - however we can get ourselves out of it in time.

Rava - there's plenty more where they came from I'm sure. A couple of them will probably have solo careers...a greatest hits album or two....then they'll do a reunion in about five years....
Anyway, I've got to get on with clearing out the office. We've accumilated so much over the years. I don't think we ever threw anything away by the looks.

Ok here's my plan.....travel down on Saturday after my match (if it's on) how are the regs going down after the Munster match...driving or train?
Also, how are people set for places to stay??
Guess I'll be booking off the Monday after....

My girlfriend is also devastated. To be fair they did Ireland as proud in the international arena as any of our rugby boys. They just go about their music, making #1, selling out concerts, not being in drugs and sex scandals in the media. They did a good job.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Good man, prop, depending on Cardiff for concert (see Mick 's post yesterday) and numbers, it'll either be by car or by large (local Devon) taxi. Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
To be honest the country isn't going to the dogs. its media and others that are making things worse and slowing down the recovery. the negativity gets to me.
with Aviva, they made the mistake of outsourcing some of their operation to India. this has backfired something fierce. it's all about their cost base. they haven't reduced it the way other companies have with smaller redundancies etc. and its led to this big bang.
Also they currently occupy the most expensive Lease in Ireland so something had to give.
things are starting to improve week on week. I see it in the confidence businesses are starting to spend again. it's just important that we maintain momenetum where possible and avoid things like what's happening with Aviva.
anyway, we don't need to buzz kill with that today it's my first day in here in ages..
I must send a joke shortly.

Stag are you coming down on the Friday? If so I have room for three others to stay with us now Munsty is not coming. Penfro and Mrs were thinking of staying the Saturday night, but if the plan then is to go back east, will anybody need to stay Saturday with us? I'm thinking of driving up to Barth on the Sunday and will be able to take a couple with me (on the basis that my pass will probably involve dropping Mrs G off in Barth for some shopping) and would be passing through the Diff. Exeter is probably a bridge too far.

Speaking of looking young, I had a wet shave last night. Don’t like it at all, but have to keep clean shaven in case I’ve to do some interviewing next week.

Was up in Molloys on Tuesday, Ken’s missus had her baby (Aisling, lovely thing all healthy and in good form) so we were wetting the baby’s head. Kenny’s beaming!

I heard that Glas.
Bristol were as thick (only they used the Betaabet)
And bath were superstitious as they never played a 13 shirt.

Tigers have (from last season I think) had the alphabetic equivalent on their shirts near the club badge.
And as I've said before, I admire Bath's International full cap honours on their shirts below the neck.

What would be the problem in the league allowing these traditions to continue? Do we have to do everything like football does, just 10 years later?

It’s good that the Tigers keep the letter on the jersey even if it’s in small writing on the front, and I like the flag on the Bath jerseys too. I see no reason that either of them would ever have to get rid of their traditions entirely.

I loved it too.
I'm wondering how far we are from squad numbers instead of 1-15? I'd hate that to happen.
