First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Not particularly pleased with that result, good to see McCaw can still get away with murder at the breakdown, but fair play NZ they ground out a result

I wonder if we might not see Richie McCaw on a rugby field for a bit now. He has clearly been playing through the pain barrier and is carrying some serious knocks. Having lead his side to the top now, I can see him not featuring in Super Rugby this season, and possibly also missing the next Tri Nations as the AB's use the opportunity to get him back to full fitness/health and also blood a long term successor for him.

Certainly hope so Ozzy the man deserves a break. I think a 2 year stint in Ireland where he'll play a max of 10-15 games a year is the only solution.

He realised that he turned the guy and instead of driving him downwards or dropping him, fell backwards pulling the ball carrier with him. The ball carrier landed on top of him but ended up cutting his hand in the process. He did enough to avoid a red.

Strange that you can't lift a player in a maul, but you can in the tackle. The sooner th iRB remove the lifting altogether there won't be any need to judge all the issues in a tip tackle.

0-10 to Scarlets after an early try for Adam Warren (turning out to be a great find!) duly converted and we've just had a penalty too.

Yea its a messy old section Greybeard. I felt sorry for the players in some ways today; it rained the entire game and was so hard to play. There was a provincial scout there checking any late bloomers and it was a day for ducks, not rugby players - loads of knockouts, players off feet, etc.

Do Scarlets A or Scarlets play in it. I know that the B&I Cup with Munster A was instrumental in developing young homegrown players and coaches.

Here's a question, should there be A squads? As in, should you have to make a real distinction between first and second squads? We played Hagan, Sykes, Auva'a and Willis in our A game against ulster. Seeing as they have been heavily involved in the pro12 that doesn't seem fair. Munsters front row against Connacht could have been a first team selection.

I think we need to make a rule to avoid that kind of thing except in the case of players returning from injury

I don't think we have an A side Stag so it's just the Scarlets. We use the LV cup to blood a lot of our academy players and thsoe players that are on the fringes for the Scarlets that have been playing well for the feeder clubs.

There is a certain irony to Man Utd conceding 3 goals in injury time.

Scarlets realistically need a BP win otherwise we could end up third in our group the way this competition is set up, and that'll be after two good wins (as far as I understand it anyway!). Need to press on now in this 2nd half and score some more tries, there's just under 20 mins left.

Try for Delon Armitage on his return to London Irish colours, playing well according to my man at the ground.

24-18 up against Newcastle, 20 odd minutes to go I think.

I'd be surprised if they threw it Stag, but I don't think they were bothered if they won or lost, and once they went behind they completely lost interest in the result.
