First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

No joke, I keep getting texts from some guy from the UWIC rugby team. No idea how my number ended up on his list, presumably a typo but I haven't the heart to text him back and tell him I don't know what the feck he's on about.

It feels nice to be part of a Uni rugby team again though. I wonder if they're a man down every week because some poor chap isn't getting the texts?

The French response was excellent, even Sean Fitzpatrick said so. The AB's laid downt he challenge, and France accepted it. The IRB are proving themselves to be ridiculous with things like this.

Afternoon all,

Sick house here today. Me and P4 are both a bit poorly.

Who issued the directive to the IRB that they should take every opportunity to make themselves look very silly? Whoever it was must be delightened that it has been upheld so fervently.

Doh

I commented to my mates at the time that the IRB would probably be killjoys and fine them, they (all kiwis) didn't believe me. Sheesh.

I do feel sorry for Julian Bonnaire, apparently Richie McCaw only wore 1 jersey in each of the pool game (Richie's 100th cap) and the final so Richie didn't want to do the jersey swap - surely Adidas could hand over a "spare" one.

On the subject of AB jerseys, did anyone else reckon that all the shirts for replacement OHs (sorry Kiwi, 2nd 17 and a quarters) were made for smaller men than Stephen Donald?

The IRB are so out of touch they make the IFA look professional. I thought France's response was excellent and reminded me of the Willie Anderson led Irish response many years ago.

Frances response was excellent. They fronted up with a few metres of an advance. However they still kept their distance, didn't get overly confrontational nor cause a major scene in doing so.

That's an odd one. I know England had jerseys tailored for each player, and got the numbers attached when the side was named - which didn't work to well in their 1st match. I presume Adidas were doing similar. Though I guess Donald inherited whatever jersey was left in the box by that point in the tournament as maybe Adidas didn't have time to get tailored ones run off?

PS, I loved the French response (after a brief "WTF" when they linked arms before they advanced), I reckon most Kiwis felt the same way. And they barely crossed the line!

IRB idiots.

Poor Mr Donald was trying to haul his far too short jersey down to cover his middle.

Only bettered by the time George North was called up as a very late replacement for Shane Williams and clearly ended up with his training jersey for the warm up!

Actually, maybe they used his old size measures from last year. Donald had been off whitebaiting* for a few weeks after the end of NPC and may have gained a few pounds Wink

NZ can't have it both ways. They want to lay down a blood curdling challenge, throats slit and all, but demand 'respect' for it. In other words "you will be intimidated". I like Rugby's quaint traditions, but the prissyness around the Haka does nothing to dispel the notion that the IRB are in NZ's pocket. And another thing, it's about time the slit throat was done away with.

NZ should go halves

They couldn't afford it.

That is ridiculous on the disrespect for the Haka, It is a known fact that the AB's love a challenge to it. In fact, they respect you more for it. Then, they bate the livin shoite of out you in the match. If yer not France that is...

If the IRB pursue this - they will be, and should be - attacked World Wide for it.

In other news...just got my foot x-rayed and it's ankle ligaments gone that's been my problem.....looks like i'm out for close to 6-8 weeks Sad

However......tomorrow's my Thursday Yahoo and i'm off on-call by tomorrow morning so can drink tomorrow night AND i'm practicing with a new band tomorrow.

It will still defrost the burgers though.

It's the cut backs Prop.

The NHS has been told to ration pain. Each patient is limited to one pain at a time!

How long agao did you injure your ankle?

MrsP - sorry to hear you're not well. I mentioned on the match thread that Douglas' top looked like it had shrunk in the wash....not that it affected his performance anyway.

As for The Haka response I thought it was great, and I don't think the ABs or their fans were bothered by it. Perhaps the IRB are being homophobes objecting to men walking along holding hands... Whistle

Well I may have done it quite a while ago but it's progressively gotten worse so I told a'n'e I did it this morning.......my sis and mum are nurses and were telling me to go but i'm my fathers son so didn't! 'I told you so has been said a few times!'

Worrying thing is that this is what ended my old man's career!
