The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Shane Williams above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

well that was better!
Much much better, our backrow is really starting to click into gear
Bit of a bummer we didn't get points here though.

It's the spin Bennett puts on it that takes it crooked. It's technique, he uses too much or too little of his weaker hand for propulsion. It either needs to be a two hand throw with both hands responsible for propulsion or a one handed throw with the other just guiding. His is a...mess.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Glas, you're weaker hand is usually for guidance, the stronger one puts the spin on it. That's what I was taught and how I throw it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
that was a slightly forward pass to Shane there, Scott needs to work on his passing!
Guest- Guest
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yes, exactly. Look at his left hand he puts some spin on with that as well. I'm not a fan of the two hand throw, but if you use it, do it right!

priestland and now williams both getting charged down, wake up bechgyn!!
close call on the try there, Australia perhaps unlucky but I did honestly think his bum touched the line first. Could have gone either way though.

Actually Glas, Australia look like a side playing an exhihition match on the other side of the world in their off season so their Union can earn a few extra shekels. Approximately

good kick, but annoyed we gave them points before HT.
To be fair Glas, Rhys doesn't usually do it. He's not playing well at all today.

Mike Phillips is doing Priestland no favours. Taking one or two steps before passing. One is pretty awful!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I agree, both sides a little off form, not much continuity... kicking at the wrong times it seems. One of those games where it looks like slow motion but then then the next play is rushed and an error made. Kaplan controlled it well early, maybe a few iffy calls but scoreline probably a true reflection.

You mean Lloyd Williams?
He's not having a good game either, worst I've seen him play for a while too.

Yes Notch, but I really think Deans will put the fear of whatever into them in the dressing room. It will be like a Beverley Hills girl ticking off the au pair for fading her gold riveted hand stitched jeans.

I'd get that fattie Ma'fu off for starters... he's a lump. The breakdown is fairly even but the more they try and contest things through the forwards... the more it will suit Wales. We need quicker ball and our deep backline is being well contained by the Wales defence. Only in a few instances of broken play has AAC or BB made an inroad... but then it just falls to pieces or another error is made.

not sure you can say they're deliberate ones Willy, not in the obvious truly cynical way anyway
Roughly only 5 Welsh players playing well. Disappointing so far.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Even a catastrophic missed penalty works out better for the Wallabies. A very well constructed try.

Glas, I think Robbie said to them at HT: "Run straight, less kicking, hit the ad-line and look for the support... now go out and do it!"

oh, my, Flip, God.
This is horrible. Wales don't even look interested. This is an embarrassment and a shame for Shane's last match.
Worst we've played in ages.
Ych.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
You can't just take a few players for a week and throw them together and expect them to deliver the same standard of performance as in a World Cup or Six Nations.
I think Wales saw the upside of trusting in youth in the World Cup and it was very successful for them and I've no doubt they should continue in that vein. But, you know when you have a very young team at this level, the players are still learning the game at that level and they will have the odd duff game as well.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ah yeah I know that Notch. Tis just such a pointless match,a nd half the players don't look interested.
We're so far behind now though so what little pressure was on has been removed, so maybe the lads can just go out there and play now.
Credit to Australia though, ruthlessly clinical when they need to be.
Aaaaaaha! Try to Priest. Knew it, pressure is off, we start to play.
