The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing pictures of Shane Williams above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

You'd love to see a wee try for Williams in this game at the end.

I think Brian Moore definitely would Notch, he got well overexcited a couple of mins ago when there was a half chance on the blind side.

I know! Normally I'm resolutely opposed to things which bring Brian Moore joy, but I'll just have to take the bullet on this one

And there it is; the fairytale finish. Touches down in the corner, exits stage left with only the roars and roses of the crowd to remember his glittering career. Nice.

Thompson has to retire again:

fair play to him, he made an amazing comeback first time around. He's been a great player for England.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We lacked a decent outside half today and were torn apart when down to 14. I am elated after the match as the only improvement to that try would have been if it was the winner. One of my non rugby mates called round just before he scored. His take "they'll be playing that clip for 30 years".
Australia are a class act on and off the field. They used the occasion to motivate themselves, contributed fully and paid their own tribute to Shane, which reminds us of the decent nature which still pervades this game.
Caplan was wor...
Only joking!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
have a nice time in the pub Kenny!
I am trying to resist going myself for two reasons;
1. got loads to do tomorrow and don't want a hangover to ruin it.
2. I really can't afford it what with the big rugby meet next weekend!
As - nice one on Exeter's win. I had you guys down to win by 8, so that result is almost spot on for me

Just watching the 2nd half of the help for heroes match. Eli Walker and Pete Edwards are both having good games.

Watched a bit of that Dreamer. Great occasion and some good rugby.
Great night with the Dublin lads, Gibbo and Stag. Some great laughs. Poor Mickado, he won't want anyone mentioning Mars Bars for a long time.
I do fear for Gibbo next weekend. Not sure he has the stamina for a three nighter

Pist off that another ex deprived us of the bonus, but at least it was a good warm up for the tiger skinning fortnight.

Am trying to get the time to print out some song sheets for the Scarlets match. a poster on the Scarlets forum has put up words to all the songs we sing, so twill be nice to bring it along if I can. You might not be able to pronounce the Welsh ones very well, but it might be easier with a guide!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Two big transfer stories;
1) Aironi have signed Mauro Bergamasco. He'll bring a lot to the table for them even if this is getting to the end of his career- they need his experience to learn from and they need his profile to grow the game.
2) Saracens have indeed signed Peter Stringer on a short term loan deal. They have a few injury problems at 9 and Murray and O'Leary mean he's no longer needed. Bear in mind this is a loan deal; Stringer will surely retire in Ireland as if he doesn't he won't be eligible for a quite sizeable tax break.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That'll be sung a lot next Saturday, Mick, you can be sure of that!
Airnoi signing Maura is absolutely massive for them. A great signing for them, and can't wait to see him in action in the Pro12!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Bergamasco is eligible to play for Aironi against Ulster in the next two weeks by the way; he's going to take the place of the injured Nick Williams in their ERC squad. Not sure if Stringer is eligible for Saracens in the HEC. I think if he's played for munster this season he isn't, but I don't think he has. Anyone know?

Given its a Saturday night, and I'm about to start reading a paper on residue pitch and pitch perception of complex tones (jeeesus...) I feel the need to share with you all this surprising not awful common version.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ainyK6fXku0
It's really, really somehow not awful.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I just checked and I don't think Stringer has been in either match day squad this season so he should be eligible for Sarries.
I have to say that will take some getting used to!

We watched the Wales game earlier and I was so pleased that Shane got that try at the very end.
Fantastic!
Lovely to see the Aussies all coming over to shake his hand after the presentation too. And the jersey thing too.
