The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Chris Paterson, Steve Thompson and Jonny Wilkinson above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Yeah we should be putting out a near first team in prep for the HEC the week after (which I am totally taking my best mate to for her birthday present, she can't wait, twill be her first ever trip to Y Parc!). Plus if we beat Glasgow (big if, they are playing well this season), I think we go into the top 4!

Should be a good weekend of rugby so pal. Players jostling for HC spots. And putting their hands up for their country in the 6-N. Always adds an in-built edge.

yeah I know, January is always a pretty good month for rugby, and then - the 6 Nations! Can't wait for it!
Tis a bit like coming home. You have good times, you have bad times, but you know it's something that's always there welcoming you back like a big warm cwtch. Blydi love it.

Plus it's a brilliant 6 Nations schedule for me with 3 games in Cardiff = unbeatable rugby days! Then there's my trip out to Dublin too. Feb and March should be brilliant!

Evening all. It's a wild night out there, which makes being indoors all the better
Dreamer, I hope you realise that if Stag had his way he'd trash that particular home and throw everyone out on the street.

it is pretty dreadful cricket.
To my utter shame my flat mate loves watching it, but think he, ah, prefers it for certain reasons that are not linked to the quality of the show! (if you follow me).
Ooo fingers crossed on the job application Kiwi. I'm building myself up to start doing the same at the end of the month. Time for a change for moi.

Good evening one and all
Tidings of joy from sunny (well it's not really it's dark and cold) Surrey. Is everyone having a fab 2012 so far?
Can't wait for Staurt Lancaster's EPS announcement next week, want to see if it really is a brave new world for England, or another false dawn and 4 years of one dimensional rugby and ultimate disappointment on the biggest stage!

Evening Ozzy,
I'm having a great start to 2012, plus got the prospect of finally getting a new qualification with work at the end of the month. That will hopefully make me feel like I haven't wasted the last 2 and half years!
How're you anyways? still very very busy?? hope all is well with you anyways

On the job/contract front, Ive been looking to get out of Nederland for a while. India is being seriously considered, seeing as that's where all my kind of work has been outsourced to. Really like the people and the idea of somewhere completely different culturally. Id love to go, but its not that easy. Wont stop me trying though.
Guess where the most juicy contracts for Mainframers have been in the last few months?
Bleedin Dublin!
That 100 Bill loan must be filtering through to the banks.
Pete,
We are back in de Dam bud. Nice to be home.

I know what you mean, Gibbo. I've worked with a fair few Indians and without exception they were what's technically known as Good Eggs. Then there's the spiritual side of things, the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads, and the land they came from fascinates me. Plus they love cricket over there.

Always good when you reach and goal dreamer, does make it feel like what you've been doing has been worthwhile.
I am super busy at present, at home and work. Have a job at work that is the sort of job that you become a detective to investigate. It should go to a specialist department, but I convinced the DI there to let my team run the investigation. We rarely get jobs like this, but I have a good team who work hard and will do a good job investigating it so I want them to have the opportunity to show what they can do. The downside is all eyes are on us, so I have to make sure we keep on top of everything, which means I am very very busy indeed.

Thank you. I am also tutoring a new detective, so it's a really good opportunity for her as well.
So do you think that Ben Morgan will stay at the Scarlets if he becomes and England international, or is he likely to head 'home'?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I hope he sees out his contract to the end of 2013 with us Ozzy, would be gutted if we let him get bought out of his contract, he suits our play so well and really fits in at the Scarlets.
Not sure about after that though. Would hate to see him go really, think he's got so much potential, we ahven't seen the best of him and it would be great to see him really flourish with us.
Interesting one, but it's weird, everyone at the Scarlets just really wishes him well whatever he decides to do. He's just one of those guys everyone likes I guess!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I have to say I have been so lucky in my police career to day (he says crossing everything possible in order that the luck doesn't run out.) When I started on response a got put onto a cracking team with brilliant sergeants which helped me to develop so much, and then when I came into the investigation arena I have have worked under 2 very experienced detective sergeants who taught me loads, and now on the team that I am in charge of I have 4 very, very, good officers who make my life a lot easier than some of my peers who have real issues on the teams that they are running in the same office/department.

I thnk the Scarlets are that sort of club as well though aren't they dreamer, by which I mean they will support their players and try to help them progress rather than it just being all about the club.
would love Morgan at London Irish. We have a big ball carrying number 8, but he spends half the season banned, so getting one like Morgan who seems to steer clear of cards and citings would fantastic. Perhaps Ed Siggery and Steve Shingler could convince him of merits of a move down the M4

If Gloucester came in with a bid for him once his contract's up at the Scarlets is up, he might find it difficult to refuse, what with him being from Dursley.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah I can see Gloucester as where he'll probably end up too Lucky. Although LI isn't a bad bet, and the Scarlets have had a fair few dealings with them in the past with things like this. Ya never know I guess....
Pete - ah sure the Scarlets are a side like that, but I think it's really helped that him and his family have really embraced the whole Scarlets experience. His dad has really thrown himself into it and spending time with all the fans etc at all the home and away trips. Guess sometimes we really are just like one big family!
And maybe tis luck with your career, or maybe it's just good old hard work paying off. Sure you might have been fortunate to be placed with the more experienced people etc, but you yourself had to work hard and utilise everything they had to offer. Works both ways. Seems like you're doing really well for yourself at the mo, which is really super Ozzy, seriously is
(and I have just noticed I keep alternating between calling you Pete and Ozzy, sorry, I'm confusing myself let alone you!)

Feel free to call me either, it's not an issue.
On another note, I think I have broken a finger. My middle finger on my right hand is bent slightly to right from the knuckle, which is swollen and slightly purple.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
hmmm, I dunno, am not an expert on this at all. The not being able to bend it thing though makes me think it's broken (a similar thing happened to one of my toes).
I would suggest going to the docs then. Could just be that it needs to be strapped up properly or something.
Although, surely if you broke it, you would really have felt doing it? (personal experience with my toe; I was very, very drunk, still can't recall how I did it, but I do know at one point in the night I was complaining very loudly that my foot hurt, so even through the alcohol I definitely felt something!)
