First topic message reminder :

Let's see if we can revive this old chestnut while we're still enjoying the festive season and, presumably, in light hearted mood. You know the score ; somebody asks a question and the person who provides the correct answer asks the next question, and so on.

I'll get the ball rolling with a fairly easy one :

One of the most controversial title fights in heavyweight history is linked to a true legend of boxing ( not a heavyweight, ) by a major US city and a relative who is not yet famous but will become famous immediately after the fight in question.

Who are the relatives, which is the city and which is the title fight?

Whenever I hear 'half brother' I always think of Robbie Sims, half brother to Hagler. So Hagler is my answer.

Surely Sims should be your answer Chris?

John Collins, of course, had a thing for "brothers" - also stopping Larry Holmes' then undefeated brother in 2 rounds. Mark Holmes' career never really got back on track after the heavy defeat.

Ok, a three-parter....

Three men who challenged for / won world titles as Brits have been involved in a Ring Magazine Fight of the Year. Can anyone name the three?

Believe Mcguigan Cruz was fight of the year, sure it is in Barry's autobiography but am not sure you will be including Barry and have no desire to revisit that debate.

McGuigan wasn't included in my answers as you suspected, Rowley. I just thank the good Lord that the careers of Fitzsimmons and McLarnin had ended by the time the 'Ring' created their Fight of the Year award.

Am I right in thinking Charnley Brown was a fight of the year Chris, as for the other two, god only knows took me all this time to come up with one and am still not convinced on that one.

Just a quick one have you read cruz's autbiography and was it any good? I listened to the Talksport when I had a day off and in the lunchtime I think it was Keys & Gray (Would you smash it?) interviewing Barry and he was talking about his biography.

Alex, assume you mean Barry's autobiography if so I have read it and it is OK, as you'd imagine he comes across as a nice guy but he is a bit reluctant to dish the dirt, when he comes to talk about his split with Eastwood he simply says enough has been said about that already, which is a bit of a cop out for a biography to my mind. Is Ok but would probably wait for the paperback as it doesn't really justify paying hardback price.

Yeah, sorry I meant McGuigans, just read the name Cruz and had it in my head. Cheers, was thinking about giving it a read, but as you say, may just wait for the paperback.

Rowley and Union are both right with their shouts of Brown and Finnegan respectively. One more to go.

Am going to have to admit defeat on this one Chris the only one I can even guess at is Robinson Turpin and am nigh on sure that is wrong.

Unless...

Is it something to do with the crafty wording of the question?

And Ghosty completes the set! Bit of a tricky one but, ultimately, Boza was representing Britain in his world title days.
