Festive boxing trivia quiz.
First topic message reminder :
Let's see if we can revive this old chestnut while we're still enjoying the festive season and, presumably, in light hearted mood. You know the score ; somebody asks a question and the person who provides the correct answer asks the next question, and so on.
I'll get the ball rolling with a fairly easy one :
One of the most controversial title fights in heavyweight history is linked to a true legend of boxing ( not a heavyweight, ) by a major US city and a relative who is not yet famous but will become famous immediately after the fight in question.
Who are the relatives, which is the city and which is the title fight?

Tsk, young uns today. McCain can't lift his arms above shoulder height. Has something to do with his time in a Vietnamese prisoner of war camp.

Sorry chaps, I left the office at 5 and was sidetracked by some lucky thing and never came back online.
Loughran and Ketchel aren't a million miles away but the one I've got is before before them.

Does the lucky thing have a name, Alex? "XBox 360" perhaps?

No #I mean he was more known for his nickname than his real name, ala Sugar Ray Leonard, wasn't his real name, but the name he is famous by.

So it's a boxer that was known by the name that he was known by.

No it's a boxer that was primarily known by the nickname he had rather than his real name. Smartass.

But Ray Leonard's name was (and still, probably, is) Ray Leonard, I don't understand the clue.

I'm going to dispute the answer anyway - given the supposed date of his birth I don't think he could have preceded Joe Gans.

Re: Festive boxing trivia quiz.
His debut was 1900 on the dot. Joe Gans started in 1890's however I'm sure that the guy I am talking about is generally recognised as the first fighter to fight with his hands below his waist.
