The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of Maxime Medard* above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
Last Pub: https://www.606v2.com/t21314-the-dew-drop-inn-virtual-rugby-pub
* While the other suggestion of Owens, Thomas and Hughie had merit, I couldn't face having Hughie's mug on the wall

No, they have correctly applied their own rules. The rules are a joke, but the decision is a correct one.

Hi Dreamer. Ah yes...the Heino....that'll be the competition the O's are out of Still, Tommy's playing so that's something I guess. I'm all right. Had a mad day at work today, it went really quickly, I worked really hard but felt like I hadn't achieved anything by the end of the day - and I still hadn't finished everything. Strange! Still, I'm not complaining. Beats sitting at a desk doing naff all, and I only left ten minutes later than I should've. That's an improvement.
Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned.

oo but days like that in work are always good I find, they fly by! Agree with you, much more preferable then just being sat there twiddling your thumbs. You been leaving work a bit late then? do you get paid for that or can you build it in to flexi time?
and argh just been checking the 6N's schedule - Wales ahve 2 home games on a Sunday!! That's utterly awful! How can anyone plan a proper nice rugby weekend when the match is on a Sunday? I am not amused by that at all.

Dreamer - no, I'm on set hours now which is a bit odd to me. My manager's great though. If I'm still sat there at four, she'll ask me what bus I'm getting...otherwise I'd be there all evening! I'm getting used to the commute now. On Monday morning, I made it onto the first bus at twenty past six.

I love that time of the morning Dreamer - Cardiff at it's best. No traffic, and only a few people about. Even better in the summer.
Gibbo - yeah, I think it's been for the best. Starting to get into things now...and there's eye candy in the canteen at lunchtimes too, which is a bonus.

Notch, yes. I'm happy enough. I've always rated him a good player. He has done it at the highest club level and will be an excellent addition to the backrow.

I think thats a given. With the new NIE regime he could only have had a one year contract extension at best. It also confirms that the management see Chris Henry as an openside flanker going forward.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all, don't often visit here so please be gentle
Talking of 13 for Ireland I am starting to think that it is a red herring and the main issue is at 12 as others have spoken about on other threads. I think Earls can do a good job at 13 but previously would have preferred Cave because he is more likely to be a longer term option (at least until Spence or O'Malley come through). However I am less worried about 13 now than I am about 12.
For Ulster, part of me would have liked to see Marshall and Pienar at 9 and 10 respectively but might not be a bad thing with Marshall on the bench as it looks like he is a good option to bring on if things really need shaking up.
As for the drink, I started drinking too much after the Football World Cup (I'd get home in the summer evenings and there'd be a game or 2 on so I'd have a glass(cough) of wine) and I kind of kept it as a habit. I told myself I'd slow down after the RWC but then the games were in the mornings so that didn't work. Then I decided would slow down in new year but have put that off til end of Jan now, but I swear I will slow down then. Just hope my liver isn't feiced Is it obvious I have been drinking wine again this evening?
As for Shingler have to say the rules don't really seem fair to me, do feel for the guy.
But anyway like I say good evening and apologies for barging in like this!

There isn't any restriction on contract extensions. Sure didn't Pienaar sign up to 2014 - a two year extension.
It may well be that Ulster weren't/aren't prepared to offer any more than one year.

Honey monster
Don't mention the Irish centres in here. The argument is so ludicrous it has it's own little article/playpen for us to throw our toys at each other until we get it out of our system. Just relax
And i think rightly so, we have the opportunity to replace him with an Irish player of similar quality. I think NIQs should only be signed if there isn't a better Irish player available in that position- definitely was true for Wannenburg and Danielli when they signed, but isn't any more.
I'm sad he's leaving though, I think he's made a big contribution. I hope he gets a good deal at another club.
