The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of John Hayes, Craig Gilroy,
Niall O'Connor, Ben Skirving and Jonny May above the bar!

If he is falling backwards how does he end up a couple of yards in front of him ?

At the risk of being called stupid again, does he not start out between the camera and the lad, kick the ball while spinning, lands with his back to the lad and then ends up on the other side of him?
3 seconds into the clip he has stood on him for the first time and he is facing the camera. At 8 seconds he is on the other side on the poor guy.

T,
In this Pub, your football knowledge, is 2nd to none. Amongst the U-30's that is.
I'm suprised you are even querying it. He knew what he was doing, while he was doing it. Before, during and after the fact.
He meant it man. He meant it.
Notch compared him to a child who needs a mental cuddle, last night. It was a good analogy he made. BUT.
My personal view is that this is a nasty little human being. Like Diouf. With the inner-issues he brings out on the field.
And he is getting paid 200k - a phhoking WEEK plus, for the pleasure. They civilise these kind of players at AJAX. Or - if they don't work out, they send them to England. For a huge profit. See Suarez.
Soccer sickens me right now. I used love it.

I'm not a football fan but to me that's one of the most obvious cases of stamping I have ever seen and the deliberate dive afterwards just proves it even more..
If there was a slim chance he was falling backwards he must have been aware that there was somebody on the floor.

There seems to be some chat floating around from local journalists on Twitter that Ulster are going to make a big announcement tomorrow. Really hope it's the return of the prodigal son. T.BoweTime.
Probably nothing though.

Dublin. 10 generations. And more. Ye Brits burnt the records on a 700 year Stag night, so I dont know quite how far the Dublin O' Beirne's go back really.

Liek I said Gibbo, my view is probably clouded by liking Balotelli. I think it would be hard to prove even if he did do it intentionally(probably a big possibility knowing Balotelli)

MrsP
I played football to a good semi professional standard, and for me, that is a deliberate stamp. His body weight was taking him to the left. The way his right leg goes back is unnatural. I support neither of the the teams concerned, and I actually rate the player very highly, as he has an abundance of talent, so I am not talking from a position of any bias.
For me it was a disgraceful act and far worse than what his captain Vincent Kompany was sent off for against Manchester United and received a 4 match ban.

If only he had come to Leinster sooner. We could have made a Trimble out of him.

It's great that Zebo will get a chance in the Wolfhounds after all, looking forward to seeing how he goes for them. Unfortunate for Paddy McAllister though, he was doing really well before he picked up that injury.

Notch, he would fit right in with Trimble, they can head off praying together. He would make a good centre his pass would be appaling though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It's hard to say who the better of the two is Gibbo. Came through at the same time, played against each other at schools level. Trimble had a massive drop off in form whilst Bowe was playing brilliantly. Trimble was sitting watching him on the Lions tour- I'd say that was a bit of motivation, seeing his close friend and rival so far ahead of where he was. Since then he's come back strongly
Remember Trimble made himself an Ireland regular long before Bowe did and had some very good games in green as well. As Bowe has struggled this past season Trimble is beginning to really assert himself for Ulster and Ireland.

Loving Zebo. Really. I mean really. He has to leave Munster or they will drill that brilliance out of him.
Feic Bowe. He's the Past.
Jennings is dead. Long Live Zebo!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I personally have my reservations about Zebo in the long run (and for those of you who are wondering its not a wum).
However for this season I am happy enough for Zebo, Hurley and Jones to be the back 3. Mafi and Earls I feel is developing as a centre partnership though I think now is the time to get Keatley in at 12 to see how it works.

I'm reading you, and I accept what you say. That is the History. But. Andrew Trimble is, and always was, a better winger than Bowe.
And he's prettier.

Trimble on current form is right up there with the best wingers in NH. Bowe on current form is reasonably far away from that group.

Trimble. Better defender. More dynamic. Instinctive. Powerful.
Watching him v Tigers was... well, it was de stuff of self-pleasuring to see.
He's BOD-like. The only one in the squad who is.

I'd be pleased to see Bowe back in Ulster though, because I know he's a much better player than we've seen this year. I know what he can do on a rugby pitch and he still has a few great seasons left in him.
You'll recall how Trimble was written off completely a few years ago.

BTW I don't know did anyone watch the full Munster match but did anyone else feel that the 10 minutes Mafi played at #9 he was better than O'Leary normally is?
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
He was solid Stag, some wild passes I actually think TOL has been decent for a lot of his sub appearances. He will get stick no matter what he does though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Haha. He did alright. I'm not a big fan of O'Leary but the bad rep he has is rather exaggerated.
Think in that 10 minutes Munster were at pains to emphasise the clean presentation of the ball over speed. That was just my impression watching in real time.

Did the exodus at the Osprey's demotivate Bowe this season? He has shown in flashes what he can do but hasn't covered himself with any real glory. Of the little I saw of the weekend game, he didn't do well for at least two of the Biarritz tries.

Not from me. I thought he was very good in his cameo against Castres in France. However he has also been dreadful.
Plenty of people exaggerate how bad he is though. Good athlete, decent rugby player, poor scrumhalf.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just talking to my brother there. He won big money over the weekend with a series of bets.
- Connacht to beat Quins
- Munster to beat Saints
- Bath to beat Glasgow
- Ulster to finish within 5 points of Clermont
- Leinster to win by more than 15
He had a few quid on each of these so he is delighted.
