First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

This is the first Pub of 606v2's second year, here's hoping for another good one.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Augustin Pichot, David Campese, Mal O'Kelly and Jim Williams above the bar!

clap Laugh Ale Yahoo RedWine cider guinness Erm laughing Bubbly mug cuppa Whisky

Nothing Lucky, twas a nickname one of my Uncles gave me when I was about 4. I hated it. I mean well and truly absolutely hated it. My mam still dusts off the name when she wants to annoy me.

Its weird, you guys using it doesn't bother me too much as you've only just started doing it, but some of my family have used it as a means to annoy me for 20 years, so they only have to say it once and I'm mad

Ha! Possibly, but my family didnt start out using it to anoy me, I just really didn't like it. I had big issues with my name growing up (coz no one could say/spell it) Like one of the dad's in the village used to call me Joan (which is my name in English). I never used to like that either.

It’s a fairly common name over here, spoke to a person of that name today in fact.

Hey Glas, remember you saw a pic of my nephew Fionn and thought it was a girls name. What name were you confusing it with? Is Ffion a Welsh name or did I make it up. how do you pronounce it?

There's an easy way of remembering how F and Ff are pronounced in Welsh:

F - as in 'of;'

Ff - as in 'off.'

Had a heart
Would she give it as a gift

How an agnel ought to be
Her dream's to give
Her heart away

Like an orphan on a wave
She cared so much
She offered up
Her body to the grave music

September-November I would have said Keatley but Madigan has been the better player recently thats a given.

I suppose Madigans poor kicking ability and Keatleys greater experience were factors.

Madigan is playing better but not kicking at goal. No sweat if McFadden is playing alongside him. It's why we were saying it would be better for him to take the kicks.

Not so much for Leinster, but for his own benefit.

Yeah true, it never occured to me actually.

From what i've seen he's a good kicker, seems to have an orthodox routine and in practise he strikes them well. I presume his stats just aren't good enough yet. Joe will get him up to speed soon. He's put his trust in Madigan this season, and Madigan is delivering, just not quite there yet.

There’s nothing to suggest that he won’t.

But I’d like to see the kicking percentages for McFadden, Nacewa and Sexton this season. I’d say they’re all 90% plus. Think McFadden has missed 2 all season and he’s taken well over 20.

In fact Madigan has, by all accounts, a bigger range than any of them. nailed one from the half way line against Connacht this season.

But he is stuck behind Nacwa Sexton and McFadden as you say. The more I practice the luckier I get. . .

laughing I know, that's what I was thinking!

Well if we all manage to find it, at least you can guarantee we'll be in very good voice!

From what I can see the flights to Toulouse aren't a problem, it's trying to match them up with cheap train times to get from there to Brive that's the issue.

I don't know anything about French trains. When we go to Italy we use the trains a lot, but book them from a UK website. PM Penfro to ask him which website he uses, they might do French train tickets as well. It might be worth finding out whether the Scarlets themselves are running anything to get out there.
