First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

This is the first Pub of 606v2's second year, here's hoping for another good one.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Augustin Pichot, David Campese, Mal O'Kelly and Jim Williams above the bar!

very true, but Scarlets sometimes can take a while to get things sorted, and I'd rather book hotels etc before the prices start to hike up. Will keep searching Smile

I'll ask Penfro for that website too.

Dreamer, you can book tickets for French trains quite easily; try www.raileurope.co.uk/sncf (I think) or just Google. I booked tickets through this site a couple of years ago and it works fine

More advice re french train travel! When I booked via this site, there was an option, for a few quid more, to extend the time window for catching a train to your destination, in case you hit a delay and couldn't make the booked trip. Depends on your level of 'risk aversion', but I took up this option and was very very glad I did! (long story, won't bore you). Depends on the the costs involved too - not worth the extra if the tickets are peanuts in the first place I suppose.

Not sure whether Rainbow is going but I'm sure she can put you in touch with a couple of people who'll be out there. Many of them are 'experienced campaigners'.

Ladies, SNCF run all French trains. They are really good.

Here is the site, in English, to look at bookings and times. OK

Haha, yeah Munsty. It is a deeply ironic card to play. It's perhaps reflective of the difference in how the British Empire is perceived in Britain compared to some other countries that he can pull that line out and not be called on it.

But it's not really news, more like Cameron grandstanding in the press over this issue. Hard to see Falklands War Mk. 2 breaking out anytime soon surely?

Cymro,

I know that not everyone holds this view, and I apologise if I caused any insult by labelling you with this statement but it's hard to be PC about everything you say and write.

Notch,

I very much doubt there would be a Falklands War MK2 but it's just the hypocrisy that gets to me.

There is a fair bit of oil in the Falklands, the drilling of which is disputed, so it probably will continue to be a bit of a flashpoint.

choose first train at 15 yoyos, then look for the return next morning.Thrilling night in Brive in perspective.

I love Regina Spektor but I don't really like the more commercial production- it sounds worse for being so polished. I love the rawness of her earlier work.

I think she's got an amazing talent, one of the most talented and versatile songwriters around.

Who else could pull something like this off?

Puma- Braveheart

Dreamer- I thought her last album may be her best. Songs like Man of a Thousand Faces marry that early sensibility to high-end production. I think it's a very well put together collection of songs. I love it.
