First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

This is the first Pub of 606v2's second year, here's hoping for another good one.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Augustin Pichot, David Campese, Mal O'Kelly and Jim Williams above the bar!

Ah that's not too bad, I think I'm off work the next day (is it a Sunday night?). I'd like to see the entertainment this year, it's supposed to be class. I've no idea about the actual football though...I can probably sit through it despite not having a clue...

It's on a week from tomorrow. It's not an incredibly difficult game to understand. There are less complications tro it then say rugby. Basically it's ten yards for a first down and you have 4 goes to get it. However teams usually punt on 4th down as if it is not converted you lose the ball at that spot. A touchdown is worth 6 and you can go for a one point conversion through the sticks or a two point conversion where you have to get the ball into the endzone from 2 yards out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football

Good afternoon pub, Bath into early ascendency against the Sinners in the Little-Value, but Sinners have come back in the last 10 minutes, 3 Barkley penalties to 2 from Myler at the mo.

Bath really need to put some wins together and the way the AP is at the moment, this might be their best bet for an ERC shot next year.

Seeing as you like Cork for Cads, you might like New York for this guy: http://www.askmen.com/galleries/eli-manning/picture-3.html

7-3 to Tiggers here at the Stoop. Superb running try from inside their 22 by Forsyth.

Quins are playing a very lateral game and giving away penalties

Perenise!!!! Outrageous sidestep, bounce-off, another step, hitch-kick and over the whitewash under the posts leaving 5, yes 5, Sinners in his wake.

A 40 metre prop's try that makes Jenkins' WC try look a bit ordinary to be fair.

Caldwell is doing alright here. Still a good ball carrier. What he really needs to learn is how to run a lineout!

Caldwell has been Bath's best tight five ball carrier by a country mile Notch, he's been a great value signing - so thanks for that.

Hooper is normally the lineout manager but he's not had much gametime this season.

Caldwell has settled in really well with Attwood Notch, I was a bit dubious about that pairing at the start of the season, but they've replaced the dog Bath lost with Grewcock retiring - but without the thuggery.

Without the thuggery is the surprising part Smile

I think not making the grade for Ulster was the wake up call Caldwell needed. I envisioned him as a guy who would be a stalwart for us based on his potential, but he seemed to do everything to sabotage himself. Now he's cut out the indiscipline and stupid mistakes he looks twice the player. Good on him- no doubt we'll come knocking again at the end of his contract, we won't be able to sign a NIQ player top replace Muller when he leaves.

On Saints, it's strange to see a team who are just a good tight five but look poor everywhere else. Headscratch

I'm OK.

I was expecting plenty of fireworks from a combination of Caldwell & Attwood, but they've both been really well disciplined.

If Bath can keep helping him to develop into his full potential Notch, you can have him back in two years time with some sexy hands on him too.

Saints have been a bit hammered by the EPS call-ups to be fair Notch, but it does expose their lack of depth in the squad, something which is common in the AP due to the tight salary cap.

Half time. Saxons just shaded the first half.

Saxons try should have been disallowed. Kearney scored a good try for Wolfhounds. Zebo had a good break and a pass to Kearney would have got a score. Wolfhounds back row doing well. Some good carries by Tuohy. Boss/Keatley not just firing yet.
