The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

I've done a little match thread about it if anyone's interested. I found the Irish squad playing tonight, but not the blinking Welsh one

Billy - that is a perfectly legit cocktail! don't know what you're thinking...
PJ - sometimes they do Red Button though for the rugby with (rubbish) English commentary. And Pobl Y Cwm Omnibws has English subtitles on Sunday nights

I prefer to just watch anyway Cari, most commentators/pundits are full of shoite - they get in the way of the game half the time.

Anyone else feeling underwhelmed by the 6N this year?...this is the least excited Ive been since 2008 despite feeling pretty confident about Irelands chances....
Think the HEC has been so good its hard to switch off from that and stop thinking about the QF.

Nonsense Rodders.
The Six Nations is what Rugby is all about. I remember when it was the ONLY real rugby competition.
Bring it on tomorrow. Calcutta Cup! Probably one of THE greatest sporting contests

Rava the 6N is my favourite sporting event in the world. I'm just saying I don't feel as excited as usual.
The butterflies in the stomach haven't started yet for me....Yeah Calcutta should be a cracker but flip me England look poor this year and it doesn't give me pleasure to say that.

Poor Rodders? I'm not so sure. They have picked some seriously talented players but they are massively inexperienced.
If they click then they could be the team of the season.
I do think they will struggle in the forwards though and that might be their downfall but I wouldn't say they are poor!

Ugh, I don't even know if I'll bother watching that game to be honest lads. It's been such a shocking match in recent years.
All the passion in the world can't cover up the rugby if it's a bad, by the numbers slog. England naming a midfield of two 10s and a crash ball merchant up against the creative dynamism of Dan Parks doesn't fill me with confidence that this year will be any different

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Prop, WG, Rodders, Rava, .
May you all be in heaven...
Like Rava, the days when the 5N was the only proper international rugby competition don't seem like more than a year or two ago for me.
Even back in the days where Bath were super succesful in domestic league and cup terms, the 5N used to stir my blood like nothing else, and it still does.
I just love the ceremonial theatre of it all, the conviviality and pomp are second to none in terms of international sport, I know I'm biased, but the West car park at the cabbage patch takes some beating for the sheer craic of it, the banter and beans are nothing but joy.
Call me a weirdo if you like, but the match I'm looking forward to most over the weekend is Ireland v Wales.
Don't get me wrong, I'm right up for Scotland v England, but I may be watching most of it from behind the sofa.
Good luck, play well and be safe I say, let the feckin games begin.

If you don't want to watch it that's your decision Notch. Whether you get excited by it is no ones business but your own.
Write off England at your peril. We have to go to Twickenham to face them this year and I think they are only a couple of wins away from being a team that will be difficult to beat.

Every team is difficult to beat Rava.
Ireland need to perform. If they do that the results will take of themselves.
Not convinced by Lancaster and Farrell at all. Thats why I think England are in disarray.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Oh I think they are well capable of winning games and I agree they will be difficult to beat. Just for some reason, maybe because of the hype and the pressure, those games at Murrayfield has been incredibly dire to watch in recent years. Both sides playing lowest common denominator rugby in the cold with scorelines in multiples of three and precious little invention or quality.
