The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
First topic message reminder :
Talofa*, afio mai** to the Leileifiafiafale*** - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Samoa because Biltongbek fancied cocktails on the beach.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the recently retired Lloyd Burns and Peter Short; Richardt Strauss and Stephen Jones or the posters for "Stamp Out Racism" featuring Pat Lam and "Justice 4 John Afoa".

Hopefully London Irish will announcing our new out half signing today (which will be good as it will mean I don't have to keep mum about it anymore!)

lazy git
And morning all, hope everyone's well?
Had a brilliant weekend in London. We all decided to be cultured and go and see an art exhibition, not quite sure I'm the right sort of person to go to those! But I mean seriously, how is a glass bowl, filled at the bottom with toe nail clippings art?! Ych.
Still, enjoyed it and then had a brilliant night out with the girls. My feet did not love me by the end of the night though! heels = evil.

Ha, aye! I still think that's just so silly though.
Also, why do people always refer to scrums as "scrum time". We don't rever to anything else as "maul time" or "lineout time".
It's a bit strange, and it bothers me.

It was as close as he gets to a compliment.
I hate "scrum time" as well. 'The scrum' is perfectly sufficient. Approbation is the only way to sort it out...

Maybe 'scrum time' doesn't refer to the scrums themselves but to the amount of time wasted resetting them.

no lucky, sometimes they are talking about the time taken, but usually it's just things like
"why are so many penalties called at scrum time"
"the problem at scrum time is that the props can't get a bind"
etc etc.
just say "the scrum"!

There are loads of idiosyncratic terms in rugby, I say the more the merrier.
I love the term “socks down winger” myself…

Don't they say 'ruck' time occaisionally too?
Ruck, maul and scrum are all verbs, as well as nouns, whereas lineout is a noun only. Therefore you can't have lineout time.

That would be "wasted time at scrum time" though.

Agree
Sure everyone knows a good backrow is made up of a tweener and a jackler instead of having a six point five stuck in there. They are good around the paddock but are unskilled in the dark arts.

I just tip-tackled an intruder in the Garbage Room. I was thinking of an ankle-tap but she wasn't running in a straight line and there wasn't enough room for it. (low ceilings)
You should have seen the mess she left in there!
