The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
First topic message reminder :
Talofa*, afio mai** to the Leileifiafiafale*** - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Samoa because Biltongbek fancied cocktails on the beach.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the recently retired Lloyd Burns and Peter Short; Richardt Strauss and Stephen Jones or the posters for "Stamp Out Racism" featuring Pat Lam and "Justice 4 John Afoa".

Same as me earlier today, Glas. With some of yesterday's eel on the side.
Kiwi, they're not protected on our roads it seems... Always a few unlucky ones each week on the approach to the Cahill Expressway.

LB those are what we in NZ call "good" possums*, not unlucky ones
* A good possum is a dead one - in terms of native forest and bird conservation

It got away Glas... a baby budgerigar. It must have been someone's pet.
I didn't actually catch it - it just flew in.

As to tactics - Don't play in your own half unless it's a rolling maul. Get in the scrummaging machine all week.
We did it before the Munster match as well. I fully expect us to name our strongest team. The only guy I think we might rest is Ferris.

ha Rava.. it made a one tiny mess in here; the big mess was downstairs.
The budgie was so small and cute though. It was either half tame or a wild one with absolutley no fear of people?
It jumped on the top of my hand like it had done that before but when I went to move a few metres it flew back up to the top of a bookcase. It seemed quite content there for about 10-15 mins... then it just flew out the window again.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
you know when you are required to give one months notice, does that literally mean from say 16th April to 16th May, or does it mean 30 working days??

Having a nice lunch. Peas, sweetcorn and carrots all diced together, a can of tuna and a strawberry yogurt.
Forgot to buy milk though having black coffee.

No it usually means 1 month dreamer. Sometimes its 4 weeks rather than a month though. What does your contract say?

If it was for work, I'd guess it would be 30 working days; if it was for say a landlord, it would just be 30 days. I think.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
So if you worked 1 day a week you'd have to work for 30 weeks Luckless?.....
Its usually 1 month from when you hand in your notice dreamer, minus any holidays you are entitled to. Your HR will give you a date after you resign.

well my contract it says a months notice.
But on the employee handbook it said if you were paid 4 weekly, you have to give 4 weeks notice, and if you were paid monthly, you had to give a months notice. I'm not really sure on the difference!

Well the difference dreamer is if you have to give a months notice if you resigned on the 1st of feb then you would leave on the 1st March but if its 4 weeks notice you would work 4 full weeks.
There's not much in it either way.
If you have holidays to take they are usually deducted from the notice period.

I suppose if you’re paid 4 weekly then you’re paid every 4th Thursday (for example), then you just give 4 weeks notice. If you’re paid like that you give notice today and finish on May 14th.
I’m paid monthly on the 25th of the month, so some months I wait 5 weekends for wages. If you’re paid like that then you give notice today and finish on May 16th.

The former, a callendar month. If your contract says a working month, then that would be 20 working days.

Obviously I am. Looks like Rhino is too, but he's going down on the fun bus. I am heading down on the train around 14:50 from Cardiff to Swansea for a few on Wind Street and then head out to the Library or near by for 5 or so to sample the build up. The Drags supporters bus isn't leaving Zooport till 16:45 so I didn't want to risk missing anything. Am going back on it though and I imagine we won't be hanging around too long.
The O's are advertising it as Shane's last game.

Glas - nope (which is a pretty big risk I know)
MrsP - not at all, ask away!
and diolch guys
Still unsure as to where exactly I'm going to be in the next few months, been thinking about either still going for the move to London or perhaps be really brave and move out to Holland (Billy has been wonderful in helping with that idea )
What I decided on the weekend was to give it till the end of May to hear back from job apps in London, and if I hear nothing then I'll start the ball rolling on the Holland thing. Am pretty sure that's what I'm going to do.
Either way end of May I'll be heading back to live in West Wales for a bit

exciting or terrifying I'm not sure which MrsP.
Depends on how many times they've mentioned the rates of unemployment on the news I think!
Will be good to make a proper clean break and sort of start again though I think. And I'm really looking forward to having a bit of proper time at home too. It'll be my longest time back there since summer of '06. Might take some getting used to!

REV - if I go I'll be getting either
A) 16:04, gets into Swansea Rail Station at 17:01
B) 16:48 gets in at 17:43
If I get the 16:48, I'll head straight up to get a ticket, if I manage to get the 16:04 may head down into town for a sherbet
GLAS - what time you getting there and will you be imbibing ?
DREAMER - great stuff. You'll never have that "Road not taken" feeling

seriously, thank you all of you for being so supportive, it really does help
With regards to Friday, reckon if I do go I'll get the 17:04 (not sure I'll make it on time for the 16:48 one). Should get into Swansea then just after 6. How easy is it to get to the Library from the station, does anyone know?
