The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Belfast, as Red Stag is still struggling to come to terms with Munsters QF loss to Ulster
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Brian McLaughlin, John Hart, Duncan Bell, Michael Lynagh, Mick O'Driscoll, Deiniol Jones and Shane Williams.
Get well "Noddy" Lynagh - our thoughts are with you.

Cheers Dreamer, I may just get over it sitting huddled beneath the picture of Mick O'Driscoll.
Losing is difficult, I'm not used to it. You must let me know after 14 losses to Munster how you handle it so well

ah sure after Saturday, you'll have to learn how to deal with another loss anyways. Careful though, it can become habbit forming....

I certainly hope so Rava!
It's a bit strange this week, realistic thoughts keep overtaking my usual happy Scarlets thinking. I don't like them.

Everyone's a critic eh?
Can't believe it's BM's last home game. Trying to decide if there are few enough extra P runs on Friday night to allow for both the P parents to get to ravenhill to help give him the "SEND OFF" he deserves (even though he's not actually going anywhere!)

No, only pedants like me, Mrs P!
I was thinking the other day that technology has robbed me of an ideal job: scrivener. I'd love doing that. Damn photocopiers.

We still have scriveners. Well not dedicated ones but solicitors do a lot of that.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
Not on the same scale though, Stag. Writing and copying documents would be great for me. John Milton's dad was a scrivener. Worth remembering if you ever find yourself taking part in the most boring pub quiz in history.

Its Pedre, Willie and Whittens last games too right?
Also does anyone know if Danielli will get a send off or have seen the last off him at Ravenhill?

Danielli is injured rodders wasn't in the squad. I guess some mention will be, made in relation to those departing.
Here since the pub's in our hometown does that mean we regs have to pay for drinks? Hmmm...

Nah not yet, only came up yesterday so just waiting to see what happens to it! Only 2 more matches this season to get through.
Rava: I used to wear a scrum cap but I got sin-binned twice because I couldn't hear the ref's call through it. Only protection I wear during a match is a gum shield!

Errr. Well I'd spell it whiskey. I don't normally visit the virtual rugby pub. Do the locals not take kindly to my spelling?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
Oh, there's just some light-hearted leg pulling over the spelling. Whisky is associated with Scotland (and I suppose, is generally the more prevalent spelling in Britian) whereas Whiskey is what we call it in Ireland (more prevalent spelling in Ireland and, I suppose, America.) But the Americans call Whisky Scotch don't they?
I'll stop before I confuse myself. Anyway, have some Bushmills Triple-Distilled Malt WhiskEy sir. You looking forward to the last inter-pro of the regular season Feckless?

Saw that Rava. Very optomistic. I worry the likes of Ennis, Farah and Daley will have far too much pressure on them. Also did you know 50 members of our olympic squad were not british citizens until last year. Legacy my arse.

Really good article from Quinlan this week again:
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0418/1224314874870.html
Sorry to hear MOD is retiring. Really underrated player and Munster will miss him big time.
Any official reports about Lynagh about? I haven't seen it reported yet.

There's still some Laphroaig behind the bar, Feckless. Or there's some Jameson if all you want is something to mix with coke.

I'll have a Bushmills, a Laphroig and a Jameson and Coke please. Need to settle my nerves after reading someone's opinions on South Africans and Ulstermen.
Notch I'm really looking forward to the match. I have to say, without wanting to sound boastful, Leinster have been a joy to watch this year. A pleasure, nearly every single week.
I know our time to decline will come at some stage. Probably sooner than I'd like. But the last two years have been thrilling for us fans.

The British Sports Media is going to go into Olympics hype overdrive isn't it? I can see it. And what a strange study from Sheffield Hallam, and other studies from other institutions and around the world. A tiny, bizarre slice of academia which seems devoted to the prediction of the Olympic medal table using various analyses of figures from previous games...

Hiya all,
Some bad news just in on the wires. Michael "Noddy" Lynagh has suffered a stroke in Brisbane. He is being looked after in hospital. Let's hope he gets better quickly. He is a true champ and I've always greatly admired him as a player... so cool under pressure.
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/former-wallaby-captain-lynagh-suffers-stroke-20120418-1x7jf.html
Also, it looks like I won't be able to make it over for the HC, Hound. Thanks a heap for keeping that ticket for me - it's all Kiwi's now.
They stuck with the originial architect for this project; maybe using me as 'fee leverage'. Oh well, life goes on.
On a more positive note: I've just heard there'll be at least 8 free channels broadcasting the Olympics.

Leinster play a great brand of rugby, Feckless. It's not just Leinster fans who enjoy watching them play.

God, I know that feeling
Yeah they've been ridiculously good. And it looks like they are building it to last. So many young players have not only got gametime this season, but been making massively positive contributions. All sporting dynasties eventually crumble but the signs are Leinster are going to be hard to shift in the short to medium term future! Strong academy, strong coaching staff, strong squad and a big supporter base.
Just hope we can put a dent in your egos before the really big weekend comes around

Apparently we won 5 and drew 1 interpro in 07/08 season, which is our best return since professionalism came in. Has any Irish team done the interpro grand slam in the last 10/15 years?

Hope Lynagh makes a full recovery.
Anyone see that show on BBC last night about the lad who fell down a hill, had a stroke and when he recovered he realized he was gay? It was a very tabloid kind of show, herself loved it though.
