The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
First topic message reminder :
Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though

Top bloke. Great player. I wish him well, I hope he stays involved with the game. He could teach the kids a lot
Ah man. Wally was one of the true WC players we ever had. 1st Shaggy, now Wally. Two wonderful servants for province and country, gone in the space of weeks. Hope he stays within the game.
Thanks Wally. You were brilliant.
+1
Were going to see at lot of iconic players retire in the next couple if years for Ireland. Our golden generation is reaching its end :-(

Invictus is a good flick, just suspend your logic when you look at the size of Matt Damon. He's actually good in it though, maybe Biltong could tell us if his accent was any use but to my untrained ear he sounded the part. MrsP is right though, don't watch it as a rugby movie, that's only part of it.
Poor ould Wally, one of my favourite players ever. Shame he didn't go out on a high but i'll always remember the classic Wally moments. Against England in 2007, England scrum 5m from their try line, the ball comes out to Harry Ellis who's feicin MONSTERED back over his try line by Wally, scrum to Ireland, Wally picks off the back of the scrum and batters his way to the line. Lovely try.

Never mind England 2007 Mick, that performance he put in against England in 2011 was unbelievable, almost superhuman!
I'd probably just rank him behind O'Driscoll and O'Connell as the best Irish player over the last decade. Amazing player. Totally broke the mould for backrowers.

When's his brother Paddy off then?
David Wallace had a long bedding in period when the Irish selectors were not really spoilt for choice. His class showed through when he kept that berth as the challengers rose and made it his own against very decent opposition. The Ireland he leaves is unrecognisable from the one he debuted for. He's been a beacon through that change.

Gib, that's great news, will add him to the listGibson wrote:The Great Ummm, has only gone and won 2 x tickets, train fares, accomodation, etc - for the Heino Final. Won it in a HC comp.
May see him and his missus for pints in London. I'll send him the details, when ye guys remind me where and when.
So far the arrangements are:
Sat 19th - 12.30-15.00 Buffet lunch in the private room upstairs at the Triple Crown in Richmond, then head off to the Fanzone and the game
19.00 onwards back at the Orange Tree or the Sun Inn both in Richmond
That's it, nothing sorted for the Amlin the night before, possibly meeting for lunch on Friday

Glas he was actually second choice for both Munster and Ireland for a few years after others did well during his injuries.
He was an amazing talent as a young player and toured with the Lions in 2001 and was the first forward to score in an Heineken Cup final at age of 23.
But in his mid 20s he ended up bench warming after getting a series of injury which stalled his progress. I would say that he was nearly 29 before he really got back into the Musnter/Ireland teams.

I'll be honest, as much as I want to attend the Heino, I am tempted to give up my ticket and not travel. If I hadn't booked my train I'd opt out for sure, but meeting my kilted friend is a major plus.

Just been thinking since G & M have been after tickets. I do want to go, but it'll be a bit pricey maybe. It's probably more that I don't want a Leinster fan to miss out.

Myself and the GF will definitely be over at the final, not sure what time we'll arrive it depends on how quick we can get from stansted on Saturday morning.
Not sure what yous have planned but don't feel oblidged to throw a 606 dog a bone here... ...we can always meet up for a pint at some stage if yous are doing a pub thing

Hoogster,
I just phoned George and he had just laid out for 2 x tickets online. Cost him, but because he had already spent 500 on plane tickets(madness) and a few bob on accomodation, he couldnt take the risk of waiting any longer. There are 1000's upon 1000's, from all over the Globe, looking for tickets now. They could have half-filled Twickers again.
Just to let you know, he said Thanks a mill Huggie, you are a star!
And you are.

Why would he do that Gibbo.
I could have got him match tickets and plane tickets for less than €500 together!!!
Still can if he wants it.

Rev, I would gladly give up my ERC Final tickets if Dragons were there. Now, granted I probably will have long departed this world and rugby will be played entirely by cyborgs at that stage but still the gesture remains. I would hate for both the Dragons fans to miss it.

I really like it. I am not sure about Dave Denton at #6 - how much game time has he played there I was sure he was playing at #8.
Also would have included Dan Biggar.
Overall very good team. Minimal complaints.

Feicenshitforbrains manager told us we would have to get the 4pm train back to London. We had to go back to the Exeter office after our conference (off site), which ended at 1:30.
She said it wasn't fair for us to leave at 1:30 as all the Exeter staff had to go back to the office. Ok, says I, but how many of the Exeter staff will get home at 7:30.
That's not the point, was her response.
Right, nearly at Paddington. Laters.

Ok, back on home turf.
Said manager is an 'interim'appointment MrsP. These days in my company you just have to be a 'happy clappy positive' person, toe the party line and deliver good news to your manager. Whether your staff are demotivated by your style doesn't matter, they just plough on.
Safe in the knowledge that, for the vast majority of employees, there are no other jobs out there.
I have likened it to working in the old Soviet Union. It's gone from a great job two years ago to a place ruled by fear, and an ever increasing workload.
I have a pint in front of me, and friends around me
