The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
First topic message reminder :
Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though

Didn't know that.
Any idea of how many of the teams manage to get it?

Sale was the only one in real danger of missing out. Averaging 15 EQP out of 23 over a season shouldn't be too hard.

Afternoon pub
I appear to have turned procrastination into a fine art The next stage of my proofreading course is a marked assignment and so far I have managed to find reasons (excuses!) to delay doing it for 3 days
I will shortly get peed off with myself and just do the blydi thing!
Not been an entirely wasted few days though as I have been putting in some foundations for going self-employed.
I notice that there's a fair few regs on Linkedin. I've registered but was wondering if people find it helpful/useful? Is it something I should make use of?

Hi Swanny
I've no idea what Linkedin is. I'm not even sure if it's available on my Blackberry so I've never used it. What's App is on there now I've noticed, but I'm not using that. You might find those sorts of things really useful if you're going self employed though. A lot of businesses rely on social networking these days it seems. Best of luck with it all by the way!

Hey Cari
I was kind of aware of Linkedin but never bothered with it as it didn't seem necessary in any way. Now that I've had a proper look at it I can see it might be useful. The only thing I'm not sure is if people actually use it or if loads of people sign up then never go on it. I have found an awful lot of people I know though, some of whom I will not be contacting!
And thanks, I had a bit of moment the other day, they seem to happen regularly, but positive thoughts are winning right now

I use linkedin Swanny but don't really go on it much. Recruitment agents etc. use it a lot so its useful if you want to network or be headhunted.
I'm not sure what industry you are in but it might be worth having an account?
If you want to promote a company or market yourself Fakebook or twitter is probably better for marketing purposes.

Rodders reply sounds useful
Just watching the SWALEC (Welsh premiership) Final on TV. There's a difference a year makes. Last year I needed to use sun block sitting in the middle tier, this year they've got the roof on cause it's peeing down.

Thanks rodders, once I've completed my course I'll be looking at anywhere that needs printed material proofreading so publishing houses, marketing companies, printers, estate agents, students needing dissertations checking etc. Probably be better to be on it than not. And I need to decide whether to have a company name or just use my own name.
Hoog, no hon I don't think you can! There's some big question marks over Sharpey's job at the moment so we can't commit to anything until we know what's happening, hopefully in about 4 weeks. Really hoping to be there though!

Thanks for the correction P. Looks like a good day out again actually, nice to see Bread of Seven there too. I wouldn't mind meeting him. Penallta playing the Gogs at the moment look like a decent side.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
Hugh, posted my reaction on the thread in the football section
But here it is
But here it is
Jon Daly? Why would Ireland pick some fella who plays for a shoite club in the SPL? Stokes isn't good enough either.
None of this is actually surprising. Olly, I told you yesterday Hoolers wouldn't make the squad. Fantastic player but he doesn't fit Trappatoni's style, I don't agree with Trap's style and feel a change in formation and playing style would help Ireland but he was never going to make it. Also, for all the "shoite" players we have, Ireland actually perform pretty well. I know I would have Richard Dunne ahead of JT and/or Cahill any day.
Hoolahan is Norwich's most important player, but Ireland won't play a style that suits him. Or at least Trap won't
Coleman's the most disappointing for me. He is one of the best right sided players in England, capable of playing right back and wing and does a very solid job at both. Versatility is key in a tournament and feel Trap has (once again) missed a step by not including him in the initial panel. I almost hope some fella from Dublin with a crowbar runs onto the training pitch to take out Foley.
James McCarthy would have made the standby at least but asked to be withdrawn due to his father contracting cancer.
Ireland always get one big result in a tournament, Spain better watch out... Italy can be beaten, Croatia would worry me more.

If that lineout before that penalty was straight then I've seen it all. Shocking officiating.

Penalty to Keys, half way in front of the posts, they decide to run it, looks like a error of judgement.
Ponty are not 10 though. Smoothly struck from Gunter

Great run from Keys #17 in at the corner but is he in touch ????
He's key his feet in the air - looks a try and the commentators agree
So does the TMO
24 -19 conversion to come

Sliced clearance, 5 metre lineout to Ponty
That is a great counter drive from Keys, unfortunately they lose it forward
